Once again, totally enjoying my favorite-ever gym, re-established now as Genesis of Lexington, KY, Wellington Way. Well equipped and well managed, including by a new Lady-In-Charge, Gretchen, who is gracious, innovative, and highly efficient, Genesis is a real pleasure to visit each day and I join many others in finding the best possible workout. Many Thanks to all at Genesis and my highest recommendation: 5 Stars-Two Thumbs Up -Times 10!!
I came to Genesis for the first time with a friend. Didn't know much about them, really. Upon entering the facility they wanted me to sign a "waiver" with ALL my personal information: name, phone, email, address, sex, and signature just to enter and begin a tour. I told them "absolutely not". So the guy gave me a tour without it. Interesting.It was a nice gym. Not the best I've seen, but it was okay. So they sat down with me a went over pricing. They cut me a deal. I told them I was of interest. He handed me an ipad with their portal for entry pulled up. He had me sign the waiver and at that point I was willing to give my information. But it was the waiver. Okay, done. Then they wanted me to fill out a hard copy paper sheet with my friends and families names and numbers. I said, "No, I can't. That's highly private/secure information I am not at liberty to share." This is when I FULLY regretted filling out their waiver. (Is everyone reading catching onto their order of business here?) Okay, more red flags kept appearing. In anticipation of my signing up, they wanted me to then give them a PHOTO COPY OF MY DEBIT CARD and my DL. No paperwork. Nothing. Just hand them my cards. They guy stood up and said, "I'll go make a copy." I said, "absolutely not". I was thinking, "what world do you live in??" I told him I'd done business my whole life and I've never been asked to do that with anyone. I told them that is a totally corrupt business model and that they need to offer me a completely encrypted private and secured portal -- or no deal. So the guy went into the office, left me with his ipad which had their portal pulled up (with my information preloaded in it) reportedly spoke with his regional manager or officer, and they said he'd let me just fill it out online and that he'd "push it through without the photo of your card". So then he wanted me to write my card number down on paper so he could hand it to a woman behind the reception desk, copy it, and then shred it in front of me. He said, "I'll do it all in front of you." I said, "absolutely not". I told him everything should be encrypted on their portal. He admitted it was a shady practice but had no control over it. I also asked them about cancellation policies. They said they required 30 days. I had to come in person and sign at the desk. Interesting.So he went back into the office and left me standing there for a good 10 minutes. He came back and said, "The offers on the table just for today. Will you come back?" I handed the ipad back to him after having closed out all their browsers. No deal. And I replied, "If you see me, then I'm back." And I walked out. Long story short, I never signed up or gave them my money. It was clearly a fraudulent business. I would not trust them or even go near them. I went home, did some research on the owners. All it took was 5 minutes for me to discover how wicked, crooked, and disgusting these people are. The Stevens family in Wichita, KS is corrupt to the core - and so is Genesis. There is a truckload of information on law suits, corrupt practices, all the way to the top of the legislature in Kansas. These are sick people. Stay away from this place. The Red Flags were glaring. And they were everywhere.I feel sorry for the people who fall for this -- even wealthy people. There's a lot of sheep out there. When it comes to Genesis -- Don't follow the herd.
I worked for Genesis and was extremely disappointed by how I was treated.During my time there, I experienced unprofessional behavior from management and a toxic work culture that does not reflect the values they claim to uphold.When I raised concerns about unprofessional conduct, instead of taking it seriously, I was let go shortly afterward.I believe this was retaliation for speaking up, and it left me feeling disrespected and unsupported.If you’re considering working with or for this company, I’d urge you to pay close attention to how they treat their employees and handle internal issues. My experience was very negative, and I wouldn’t recommend Genesis based on how they handled my situation.
The Genesis Gym, on Harry Street in Wichita, Kansas is being sued by me. I will in fact sue them for deceptive trade practices. These people, need to be exposed for who they really are and not who they try to portray themselves to be. This is wrong. The Manager is being sued directly. Julian, Macy will have a page on my website, and I do not give a shit who likes it or not. I will even expose text messages. As, I gave him thousands of dollars, and This guy is a con man. This is in reference to Genesis health club Brownwood Square the villages Florida. They have closed down their website and telephone. Yet they still charge my credit card. I’m not sure if they’re going to permanent close or what is exactly going on. They did this suddenly without prior notification of their members. Very bad form! 
This company has dishonest cancellation policies which somehow favour them while completely ripping you off. The gym is crowded and uncomfortable. Do yourself a favor and go elsehwhere!
I am definitely pleased with my Forever Fit class and the instructors I have had at the Manhattan, KS, facility. However, management seems to put little priority on maintenance of this fairly new building. During and after winter storms, there was no snow or ice removal from the parking lot or sidewalks, water-stained ceiling tiles go for months before replacement, and lines in the parking lot are so faded that parking is a free-for-all.
Fraudulent practices fraudsters at their best. I was clearly told my account was not an auto payment account yet they still started charging me monthly I was charged fraudulently for almost 4 months when I was there for only a month
I’ve never encountered such poor customer service. I signed up for a membership, and just three days later, they canceled it without any notice or explanation. When I asked why, I was met with rude responses and no solutions. To make matters worse, they refuse to refund me for the days I didn’t even get to use the gym. Avoid this place if you don’t want to deal with dishonest management and unfriendly staff.
Charged me a full month fee PLUS $10/month to "pause" my membership for a last minute 4-week business trip. So I would pay a full month PLUS $10 so that I can NOT use your gym? They require 30 days notice before you pause your membership - just predatory."But you agreed to it in your contract!" Despicable. As a business owner myself I would never treat my customers this way. But our business doesn't prey on college students and the poor.Just horrible and predatory. These practices should be illegal. A stain on our community.
I have waited MORE THAN 30 DAYS for the Genesis Health FRAUDSTERS to refund $1,386.12 charged to my credit card erroneously (fraudulently?), and I am filing a formal complaint with Consumer Protection and taking them to Small Claims Court in my state ... STAY AWAY from these CROOKS !!!
Some people don’t like the steep price and for that I’m knocking them a star, but at least in Orlando their gym is the best in the area. As far as facilities go, it is massive and has great equipment. I’m pretty sure it’s the largest gym in Orlando. Their basketball courts are great as well.
They are all scumbags who are only into getting your money. They don't care about your needs. They took over $200 out of my bank account and I never stepped foot into their facility. They lied and then used lawyer contracts to extract money from my account. They are not on the BBB list and have an F rating. Stay away from this club.
I have had nothing but trouble with this gym. I signed up at the Goddard, KS location. They didn't have a washing machine or a dryer to launder towels, so they were always out. They would have the West Central location in Wichita, KS launder the towels, but they were always out by the time I got there. If they did have towels they would keep them under the counter so you would have to hunt down an employee to get them for you if they did have any. For the first several months of my membership the Goddard location's showers were out of order and the steam room was not functional. They gave me a pass for my daughter, but gave me static about her not having a membership every time she came with me. I started going to West Central where the staff we a lot easier to deal with. Unfortunately, the West Central location had a water heater break and it took about a month to repair. It seems like they shut down some of their air conditioning units to save on electricity several days a week, every week. I paid extra to be able to go to the Rock Road location and I get static about my membership every time I go to that location. Their tanning beds are frequently broken and take a long time to get repaired. I canceled my membership and they put you through this scammy questionnaire and won't stop the membership for 60 days. I recommend going somewhere else.
Could Have shared ALL important info at the signing. Like " Non-Refundable"Their understanding for an 84 year old Navy Veteran had no relevance what so ever to the money they were ask to refund due to major changes in his life.To put it frankly from them. "Still Not Going To Refund."It's not about the customer, it's about the $$$$$
This is probably one of the best health clubs/gyms in the area. I've also been a fan of the YMCA clubs but the people at Genesis take it a step above that. Its definitely more expensive than the Y, and that's the only reason I drop a star off it. But the passion of the staff and the equipment quality is the best for the price of membership. Its not the cheapest gym in the area and its not the most expensive. Its right in the middle and I highly suggest it to anyone in Wichita. Also TBH don't like the Stevens family, but they know how to run gyms. I always go with the best product for the price, and this is it.
