Similar to other reviews, cancelling the policy is very painful. They didn’t respond to my email to cancel so I called and arranged for my policy not to renew on 31 December. I received email confirmation. I then randomly received another email a few days later advising it would be cancelled on 15 December. I contacted them requesting they dont cancel it until 31 December as per my initial request not to renew the policy. This was then confirmed on email that the policy would run until 31 December and then not renew. I then unbelievably got an email a few days later saying the policy would auto renew on 31 December. Absolutely ridiculous.
Waited 20 mins on the phone to ask 2 simple questions that the website was incapable of doing.1. to add another pet to existing policy. How much?2. How much to add optional extras (which I thought we were covered for - vaccinations and so on).The person who answered then transferred to another phone and they could not tell me how much for either of the options but wanted a code and asked if I was using the same card for the transactions. Surely this is illegal? We've hardly ever claimed as we have 3 young dogs. What are we paying money for?As an addendum I got a call back from them following a complaint. When I complained about the call centre, was told that she can put a note on my cover to include being able to talk to someone in Australia. Like it’s a default that you wish 40 mins for a call centre to answer.
Rspca have put so many obstacles in my way when I try to cancel my my pet insurance policy for my deceased dog.Been insured with rspca for life of two pets and did not expect this treatmentWill never insure with RSPCA againStill waiting for cancellation of policy while paying instalments.RIDICULOUS!!!
Have been with RSPCA near on 3 years just got my 3rd renewal which had gone from $61 to $79 we started at 49.We have never claimed for anything huge so 18 dollar increase is crazy but looking at reviews at other companies not good either only Petsy which I will look in to a again cover details make it hard to compare so just want to be careful. Just know that these companies start off good then hike up the prices hoping you don't have the time to do around.
Had a policy for our 2 dogs for very long time, on calling to transfer the policy into my fathers name as primary carer they reinstated a whole NEW policy with an increased premium. Not advised of this at the initial conversation had with the representative and very poor communication. Be aware of ‘sneaky’ fees and any reason to bump up the premium. The representative I spoke to refused to escalate my complaint and it was left there. Have now changed insurance providers and have never been happier!
Having been customers for 10+ years we also insured our second hound. When he had a car accident we confidently agreed to emergency treatment in the knowledge we had 60% coverage with our policy (our previous hound had 80% and we hadn't had an issue). RSPCA paid out just $2,000 on a $20,000 bill. You think you're doing the right thing going with them but they're scammers. Our vet agreed they're terrible.
I’ve been with your company since my dog was a puppy, over 12 years of loyalty and this is how you repay your customers?$116 per fortnight for a small 12-year-old dog?! That’s over $3,000 a year. Are you seriously trying to justify this? People are struggling to make ends meet and you continue to hike up prices without any consideration for the financial pressure we’re under. Now I have to choose between my own health insurance and my dog’s and guess what? Her pet insurance costs more than mine. And if I cancel, you wipe her cover for good because she's over the age threshold. What kind of system is that? You’ve trapped people into staying with you no matter how outrageous the cost gets.Increasing premiums by $20 year after year is disgusting. You are preying on people’s love for their pets. This isn’t just overpriced, it’s robbery. Shame on you.No excuses. No justification. Just pure greed.
Worst cover Avoid!
Terrible insurance cover. We held consistent 9 years cover for 2 dogs totalling $34,560 in premiums to date and they wouldn’t even cover $150 vaccination or $150 checkup or anything for dental and just happily took our money without checking if it was suitable cover
I took out pet insurance with RSPCA in 2023 for my 1 year old Labradoodle, it was $68 per month, I made no claims that year, in 2024 the monthly premium went up 38% to $94, I made 1 claim that year totaling $300, now in 2025 they are increasing the premium to $124 per month. This is an increase of 81% since I commenced the insurance with RSPCA, they tell me that the increases will happen every year due to 'various factors' and that it will increase again every year, so I assume it will increase by around 35% every year approximately which is highway robbery.I'm better off depositing $100 in a savings account and savings account every month and saving enough for any pet related emergencies.I hear pet insurance is not worth it from various people and I find this to be very true, do your math and ask questions before taking out pet insurance.
Find any loophole possible and excuse for avoiding claim. Had legitimate claim but they managed to find a way to suggest a preexisting undiagnosed condition was related. Asked for cancellation of policy and still waiting days later. Holland don’t care about your pet. They only care about their back pocket. Total rort. “In 2019, Choice awarded the entire pet insurance industry a Shonky award for ‘emotionally manipulating’ pet owners into buying poor-value insurance,” Veyret said. “Choice experts found pet insurance policies riddled with exclusions, many with unfair terms and conditions buried deep in the product disclosure statement. Some insurers have improved their products since then, but it’s clear they still need to do much better.”
Waste of money and terrible customer service! I do NOT recommend this insurance. Lodged a claim and specified items to be claimed they rejected the claim and even accessed items I didn’t claim for as I knew they were not included in the policy. I canceled the insurance and went with another provider.
They have generic clauses that means the have loopholes for every claim. They haven't paid anything out with all the issues and standard claims we have made for our 6 month old pup. AVOID..!!!
I had Danielle call me after browsing on their website, she was friendly, informative and had great banter! felt like i was talking to a friend, i just wanted to say great job! i probably wouldn’t have taken the insurance for a couple months but she made it so easy, great job danielle!
horrible service every year goes up but the80%stay the same charge me $120 every two weeks not good greedy should be capped
Unable to pay my premiums due to illness I contacted RSPCA who went above and beyond to help me. They were incredibly understanding and supportive with my current circumstances. They were so helpful in readjusting my overdue premiums to get me back on track.Thank you RSPCA for all your compassion, understanding, support and we'll wishes for myself and for taking the best of care of my precious baby girl.We don't know what we would do without RSPCA insurance 💕🐾
Due to really hard times of late and still having RSPCA pet insurance, I would eventually have had to have my mate Diesel put down, the RSPCA Paying for most of a $1500 operation to have a tumor removed from his snout, could have saved his life, I say it’s worth every cent of the premium and a big cheers to the RSPCA.
Absolutely useless
Been with RSPCA for 8 years, never missed a payment and only made a handful of claims. Just in the last couple of weeks had my fortnightly payment put up to $89 from $69. So about $15,000 I've paid them so far. They're doing alright. The guy on the phone wasn't willing to budge on putting it back either. Just cancelled and not happy either
