Disappointed

Took my car in for an MOT but mechanic was very unhelpful... so I went to a different garage.

We were going to the Goodwood Revival…

We were going to the Goodwood Revival and had a problem with our classic car, we found them on the internet and they were fantastic, came to help us twice and followed us to Goodwood to make sure we got there. Would fully recommend them to anyone who needs a mechanic in the area. Helpful, pleasant Mark and his Father. Thank you so much from North Wales.

Terrible

Terrible. Took my Beetle in as a non starter and for an MOT. I now have a car without a working roof because they broke the fuse socket for it. They replaced 2 of my tyres, 1 of which they had to come out and replace again within a week and today I’ve had to get the other one replaced because it’s also had a leaking valve ever since they claim to have replaced it. Whenever I have tried to contact them about these issues (multiple times) they’ve completely ignored me. Do not recommend. Dodgy.

Starter motor fitted incorrectly by M H Auto’s of Peterborough

Had starting issue with car.needed new starter motor, took to M H Auto’s of Peterborough, they charged me £1190,had car for 5 days, anyway got car back, worked ok for 3 days, then started to have intermittent starting issues, and broke down, had to have recovered, cost of £100,as I phoned M H Auto’s saying I’ve the same issue, they wanted to charge me for recovery again,to get car to them, but sounded like they just wanted to get more money.so had car recovered and took home,so I could get a second opinion, took to a well known garage, respectable garage.3 hours later get call from garage, cars ready,I go down to collect, and the mechanic said to me who fitted starter motor as it was fitted incorrectly, and also the receipt says starter motor was fitted incorrectly,I called M H auto’s for a partial refund,as they have not completed or installed new starter motor correctly, they blew my relay switch, blew fuse, the mechanic from other garage said it was lucky it never started fire to the electric loom.M H auto’s of Peterborough do not want to give me refund, they won’t admit it was fitted incorrectly,I can only go by what receipt from other garage has printed.as there not willing to give refund or listen to customer,I’ve had to get trading standards involved.but I most certainly will avoid M H Auto’s of Peterborough, there cowboy’s,no communication, all they want is your money, avoid these cowboys.

Rude staff

Spoke to them briefly and they were very rude off the start, not worth pursuing anything further with that company.

DO NOT USE!!!!

DO NOT USE!!!!Warning light came on dash regarding glow plugs. Usual garage fully booked up therefore had to use an alternative. Found this place online seemed ok.Called in, booked an appointment for diagnostics, was told on the phone that the charge would be £60 for the diag, this would consist of plugging the car in, a road test and manually checking the glow plugs.Dropped car off, 40 mins later had technician on the phone (Kieran) advising he needs me to authorise another hour as he has not yet diagnosed the fault, asked Kieran what he had done in the 40 mins my car had been there, his response was that he had plugged the car in to the scanner and found no faults relating to the glow plugs. No road test! No manually checking the glow plugs!! Nothing basically. Did not authorise an additional hour.Went to collect the car and was given a quote of nearly £500.00 not including the fee for the diag. Was told by Kieran that all 4 glow plugs needs replacing and the DPF needs regenerating. Decline the quote and went elsewhere. (I know nothing about cars but that seemed excessive)Took the car to a garage down the road and had all necessary work completed for £295.00Been absolutely had here, could have been a lot worse if I’d accepted Kieran’s quote.AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

MH Autos peterborough brain, hands, willingness run too fast, racking up costs

The guy Mick and his wife seem decent but he promises to do things and then tears into things without the correct equipment, racks up expenses. He is able, and a good talker but ought to slow up. Asked him to see to my works van that turned over and not start. AA man had said injector problem. For call out fee, came to my house late (he is clearly burning the candle) to diagnose having said he had tool to read codes off ECU, for vehicle computer diagnostics. Came without, in wife's shiny black Disco. No tools, no reader. Used my hand tools and did a few basic checks (he did reduce his fee for this, but it should have been zero). Lifted the van next day to his garage for £180. Without correct ECU diagnostics kit he manually, and doubtless with much knowledge and skill, looked through every possible mechanical problem before reaching the point I had told him to start at - the injectors and the ECU. By this point he had removed the fuel tank, cleaned fuel regulators, solenoid and the rest with no effect. Then, after two + weeks without my works van, he bought the ECU reader he said he had got the codes he needed to correctly target the problem. Gets van going having cleaned the ECU, for £966 bill. Drive home and in 2 weeks - 40 miles of driving - the van is dead with identical problems as before. Van starts but cuts out. Mick asked me to return the van (remember, it was not drivable), said he would re-diagnose and repair, and that a new ECU was needed but why would I? Instead, took it to another garage who read the new fault codes off ECU for £10. Fuel supply problem. I changed the filthy fuel filter (£18 and 10 mins). Took out 4 mucky injectors (30 mins) and sent away for testing/cleaning (£17.50 each plus post). Removed ECU (20 mins) for testing (£54 inc post) - all fine, but some residual corrosion highlighted. The replaced, cleaned injectors on new clean seats and the fuel filter. All running fine. The guy is decent and knowledgeable - in fact he has a very good motor on his shoulders - but his brain, hands and willingness run too fast, racking up costs where a steadier head would have listened and cut to the chase.Garages in general, including this one, should offer to recompense where they fail to rectify a problem and where the client is unwilling to allow them to pursue it (throw more money after bad), like the rest of us have to in our supply work. If he had done so, I wouldn't be writing this.
