Makita brush cutter conversion kit 196500-7
The Makita 40v couple shaft line trimmer is a good tool and powerful enough to use with a blade. However, the parts needed to attach a blade are not available except as a "kit" that costs around $60. I purchased said kit and it is worthless. It comes with a completely unnecessary strap identical to the one that came with the tool and a plastic handle that is in no way an improvement over the stock handle. I does include a nut, washer and dome washer, all necessary but the dome washer, which will touch the ground at times, is plastic and not likely to last more than a few uses. It also comes with a larger shield than the stock one and that's good, but it does not include the screws to attach the shield nor the "guard extension" which would allow it to also work with a line trimming head. That has to be purchased separately. And finally there are no instructions showing how the parts are meant to be installed. Come on Makita, you can do better!
