Despite receiving emails saying they had updated my online application, they did not. If I hadn't of noticed the discrepancy my application would have certainly been rejected leading to another 7 month wait. They got multiple answers wrong on my application and when contacted 1 week before interview they still told me incorrect information. Useless in my opinion, to the point they may jeopardise your chances of obtaining a visa.

Deceptive Design Led Me to Share Sensitive Information
I feel genuinely shaken by this experience. I searched “U.S. passport renewal” on Google and GovAssist appeared among the first results. The website looks extremely official, and at no clear point upfront did it feel obvious that this was a private third-party service.
I truly believed I was on the official government website. I entered my Social Security number, passport number, and payment information thinking I was completing a routine renewal through the proper channel. Only afterward did I realize this was not a .gov site.
What made this more unsettling is that the entire experience felt automated — AI-driven responses, extremely fast replies, and even phone interactions that did not feel human. It creates the impression of efficiency and legitimacy, but it also raises serious concerns about how sensitive personal data is being handled and protected. At this point, I am genuinely questioning the ethical standards behind this business model.
When you are collecting highly sensitive identity information, clarity and transparency are not optional. The presentation of this service creates real and foreseeable consumer confusion.
I sincerely hope regulators take action to stop companies like this from misleading consumers and exposing them to identity risk.

Total ripoff
Total ripoff. The $167 was supposed to be for a passport and passport book. But it does NOT include the $160 fee to the Passorot services. It is their fee to fill out your form and accept your photo. TOTAL RIPOFF!!!

SCAM
SCAM! I called my credit card company to dispute. Will hope for the best. $149x2. Impersonates a government agency.

EXTRA CHARGES
This company charges an extra fee for their services over and above the passport fee apparently which misleads people until you see your credit card bill. They SCAM people into continuing service with them. NOT GOOD

Cynical parasite masquerading as official
The website represented itself as an official application site. They charge the same fee as you pay the actual state for the same service, but all they do is print out the form you have already filled in.
They managed to mess up one of the fields and paperclipped my photograph to the form which scratched it so I had to use a different one anyway.
Avoid.

GovAssist is a total SCAM!
GovAssist is a total SCAM!! It pre-empts the valid governmental website to prey on people who may not catch that's it's not a governmental organization. They charge an exorbitant amount ($167) to take the information you enter and put it on the passport form which they then mail to you. You still have to pay the passport fees and do all the other activities.

GovAssist is one big SCAM
GovAssist is one big SCAM. They make you think the are the US Gov. You pay your money to them for your passport then a few weeks later they want another $130 for processing fees and other crap. Basically they are holding your passport hostage.

They are a scam but FEAR NOT
They are a scam but FEAR NOT! They won't refund you but all you have to do is "dispute the charge" with your cc company. In 2 minutes they can see this site is totally bogus. I have had my same cc since 1985 and they can't do enough for me!

Total Scam! Do NOT USE!
Total Scam! These people are total crooks! Get a real job like the rest of us. My twenty-something son applied in September, thinking it was the real US Gov agency, and they strung him along for months by asking my info and his father's information and saying his passport was coming soon. Then we finally called the real passport agency, and they had no record of his application at all. AVOID at all costs! I am going to see if my bank can get the $148 back. I will tell my son to always check to make sure there is .gov at the end of the website.

Very misleading website
Very misleading website. They are listed first in Google Search. While I should have noticed it was not a .gov site, their site makes it appear it is an official site to renew your passport.

Complete scam!!
Complete scam, I fell victim to it thinking it was a normal passport renewal site but didn’t realize the .gov part because I was in such a hurry to renew it. Charge back my money and get a real job, this world sucks.

Scam - not .gov official site
Scam! I didn’t realize the website was not an official .gov website until I submitted (and paid) for my passport renewal application. What a scam!

There should be a ZERO star option for…
There should be a ZERO star option for this company. It is a complete SHAM and steals from unsuspecting people. My husband thought he was using a genuine government site to get his passport renewal. They charged him $148 then sent back his applicaiton saying his photo wasn't acceptable (the site accepted it) and wanted him to return the application with another photo and a check for the actual renewal. It was only then that I realized he had been scammed. We are out $150 for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! It should be ILLEGAL for a company to present themselves in a way that deceives and makes them appear to be legitimate.

AVOID!
This company impersonates government agencies through a website that looks like an official government agency. I fell for this with my ESTA application. I basically paid more than double the price for the application (USD 115 instead of USD 40).
To be fair, they did stipulate that they were third party at the very end of the process. Nevertheless, the service is useless and must be avoided. Most troublesome is not the wasted money but the fact that I uploaded my passport copy.

Less than zero stars for this service
Less than zero stars for this service. Please do not fall for them as I have. They push their website first in Google search and mislead people. They do nothing actually. I will be reporting them to all officials that I know about.

I wish i could give this a zero star
I wish i could give this a zero star. Accidentally applied my VISA on their website and I had to make another payment for the actual visa 🤦♀️🥺. They claim to have helped with completing your VISA when they CLEARLY have not. These are thieves, online scammers posing as the OFFICIAL website for the American Visa. After you make payment they send an email to say you still have to pay money for you VISA thats when you realise you have been scammed.

Rating:ZERO!
I wish i could give this firm a negative number, frankly, this feels more like a scam then a service. What a mistake I made trusting them with my information. STAY AWAY, I WISH I HAD,

I got screwed on this deal too
I got screwed on this deal too. Didn't pay enough attention to the site, thought I was dealing with a gov site. Lost $148, thankfully it wasn't more.
