I booked tickets for the dinner…

I booked tickets for the dinner detective expecting a fun and interactive night out. Especially after reading so many positive reviews. Unfortunately my experience was the complete opposite. From the moment we arrived things felt unorganized. Check in was really slow and a bit confusing and we were not given clear instructions about how the interactive portion would work. We ended up just sitting there unsure of what was going on for the first time of evening. The dinner it self was disappointing the food was served lukewarm and tasted very average nothing memorable at all . Considering the ticket prices I honestly expected better quality and presentation. It felt like a basic banquet meal of a special events.Over all it did not feel the worth of money or the time , I really wanted to enjoy the experience but I left feeling very disappointed.

I honestly had high expectations based…

I honestly had high expectations based on the reviews, but my experience was very disappointing. From the start, the event felt disorganized. The seating arrangement was confusing, and we weren’t clearly guided on how the interactive part was supposed to work. The dinner was underwhelming. The food was served lukewarm and didn’t have much flavor. For the price of the ticket, I expected something much better in terms of both quality and portion size. The bar service before the show was slow and crowded, which set a frustrating tone for the evening. As for the show itself, it just didn’t feel engaging. The storyline was difficult to follow at times, and the audience interaction felt awkward rather than fun. There were long stretches where not much was happening, and the pacing made the night drag on.Overall, it didn’t feel worth the money. I went in expecting an entertaining and immersive experience, but left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed.

Date night for Valentine’s Day

Date night for Valentine’s Day! It was our first time attending a Dinner Detective. The storyline of the mystery was great. The actors were entertaining. We even had the chance to participate and help reenact the murder scene. Good food. I would recommend Dinner Detective to anyone looking for something different!!

Fun But Dragged On, Couldn’t Hear the Actors, & Ending Was Rushed

Had a great time but the banter from the two cops went on too long and there were too many parts that I and many others couldn’t hear because they were too far away. I’m not sure why some small microphones couldn’t have been used. The other part that kind of killed the experience was that we were heavily encouraged all night to get detailed in writing who we thought was the killer and all of the clues/details that backed up our claim. And at the end they collected everyone’s papers but they came back with winners way too quickly for anyone to believe that they actually read all of the papers. There were over 50 people there & we’re supposed to believe that all the papers were ready within 10-15 minutes? It felt rushed. We had someone at our table who listed every last clue & detail that was later revealed…but they won nothing. We understood that someone might have written more detail but the fact that it was clear that they didn’t read all of the papers left a bad impression.

I would give them zero stars if there…

I would give them zero stars if there was an option. I have tickets for tonight. My girlfriend got sick last night and got progressively worse through the morning hours. I contacted them early this morning and explained the situation. I am not looking for a refund but looking to reschedule for another date. There is currently a waitlist list for tonight and they are giving me no option but forfeiting my tickets with no refund. They do not have a phone number to speak to a representative, just an email that lacks proper communication. Do yourself a favor and avoid this experience. There are plenty of other murder/mystery events that would be much more understanding and accommodating.

Wonderful time enjoying a mystery and a meal!!

My partner and I just attended a showing of "A Noteworthy Crime" in New Haven. It was our first Mystery Dinner theatre experience and will certainly not be our last. We found the story engaging and very humorous. The interaction of the actors with the audience kept the flow going. I particularly enjoyed having the actors embedded among the dinner guests. Every actor performed their role beautifully. I would call them all out but that would be a bit of a spoiler. They were good at being on script and also improvising based on the reaction of the regular guests. We were often interacting with other dinner guests to see who the suspects might be but that interaction was not entirely necessary (for those nervous about talking to random strangers). The actors are not shy to call on the guests though to introduce themselves or partake in other parts of the performance, so be prepared for that.I found the meal quite delightful as well. I chose the Salmon. At one point, I was a little too enthralled with the puzzle that I forgot to finish my entire dessert, oh well.Based on other reviews, we were expecting to have a great time and we did. We can't wait to see when their next script comes out!

It's better that having to sit through "CATS"

The show was more entertaining than I expected. I went in with low expectations of the food, cast, and plot. The food was OK. Picture yourself at your cousins' wedding... that's the food. The cast was way better than I thought they would be. The show is more "Naked Gun" than "Sherlock Holms".The two male detectives were engaging and really worked to keep the crowd into it. They handled a little heckling fine and in good humor. The host (Carmen) was great. The plot was just stupid. most of the room had lost interest in the actual plot and was just enjoying the drinks and cast.So... If you had to choose between "CATS", being stabbed, or seeing this show, go to the Dinner Detective.
