Money VERY well spent!
Hiring Adeline and “Savor & Soak Travel” was the smartest decision we made in planning our trip to Japan. My husband and I had been several times before, but always with my parents who spoke Japanese. The other couple traveling with us had never been at all, and were very open to new suggestions and were happy to skip the “must-see” (and therefore very crowded) attractions. We all wanted some new experiences, a ryokan, some hiking/biking, and some art. Adeline gave us spectacular recommendations such as a beautiful resort/ryokan on the smaller main island of Shikoku and beautiful gardens we never would have known about. She also procured tickets for so many events such as a sumo practice, TeamLabs Planets, gardens, art museums and trains! She booked an amazing private tour of Kyoto, where we visited shrines, temples and bamboo forests…just not the over populated ones! She booked a wonderful food tour in Osaka, and a beautiful tea ceremony. She got us tickets for the very popular and spectacular art museums on Naoshima & Teshima, and booked rental cars for us. We wanted to book our own accommodations so she advised as to areas that fit our interests, and suggested restaurants and sites we could visit on our own. This was money SO well spent, and we can’t recommend this service enough!

Spanish family of 3, traveling to Japan for 2 weeks in February 2025. I am the one that usually organises all the family trips, and spend (and enjoy) countless hours looking things up, booking hotels, etc, so it was not easy for me to “let go”. I am SOO glad that I hired Adeline of Savor & Soak for this trip. Her knowledge of the country, her recommendations and the way she seamlessly organised our day to day made our holiday a bliss. She went above and beyond what we could have found in any website, instagram account or similar, so we felt at all times that the trip was made for us only. It started with several emails and video calls to understand our likes and dislikes, then we followed a chronological order to book the different stages of the trip. For example, when it came to booking hotels, I had specific needs about the type of bedrooms, and she suggested 3 different options for the different locations with those needs in mind. Also, her organising of the train rides, with detailed explanations about the stations, times needed, how to use the train tickets (not always easy to understand...) was a life saver. You can see Japan by yourself, but by hiring Adeline you get to visit things and experience activities that are not easily found online or in a guide book. I will be recommending her to other people going to Japan (some have asked already).

Savor-and-soak is a boutique travel agency specializing in Japan. Service is very personalized. I did a marathon trip hitting Karuizawa, Kanazawa, Lake Biwa, Furashiki, Naoshima, Okayama, and Nara in nine days. Everything was clearly outlined, train tickets were prepurchased,and reservations confirmed. She was able to arrange special events like a falconry experience and tea ceremony in Kanazawa. I stayed in ryokans mostly, which are typically tiny and hard to reserve. Because Japan is such a hot ticket, some hotels were not available to travel agents. Adeline had no objection if I snagged a preferred ryokan or hotel reservation through a consolidator, rather than take a room in a less desirable location. Pricing of hotels and activities was transparent and I was able to prepay a lot of it before I left (nice on the credit card), and the rest in Japan. The cost for her services was very fair. I plan to use savor-and-soak for my next Japan adventure.

Adeline, the owner of Savor and Soak put together an amazing personal trip for my wife and I in October of 2024 for 2 weeks.Her approach in arranging a private guided tour including phone calls , texts , emails and videos allows you to make choices for your individual tastes of what ,where and how you wish to experience Japan. This all can be accomplished within the time and the budget you choose. We based our trip in Tokyo and Kyoto and the mountains near Kanazawa with trips to surrounding cities and countryside.Based on our wishes, She scheduled transport including the bullet train and car service from the airport and on individual dates of travel. We had guided tour guides during most days, who were excellent. We saw bucket list locations , ate in all different style restaurants, did a cooking class , rolled our own sushi , had a geisha show etc. if you are traveling to Japan and want a seamless experience, I highly recommend Savor and Soak.

Perfect Family Trip to Japan!
Adeline planned a remarkable two-week family trip to Japan with our 10 and 4-year-olds. She is a careful listener with an abundance of ideas and recommendations that are outside anything we could have planned on our own. She struck the perfect balance between historical and pop culture activities to keep the whole family engaged. We traversed much of the country by train and she had all our tickets purchased in advance and delivered to our first hotel.
