Robbery…
I asked for the possible cost and they said maybe a couple hundred unless they found something else. Ezra was very nice. I had a pinhole leak. They brought the pipe part, unscrewed 3 bolts, installed it and charged me over $1000. Then suggested I put in a bladder to release some pressure and replace my water softener and heater and they could give me a deal. I need to win the Powerball first.

They kept a $2000 down payment on $6900…
They kept a $2000 down payment on $6900 job that I cancelled after 2 days and say it's non refundable. That's like 30%. There's a 3 day cooling off period. They never emailed the invoice or contract even after calling and asking for it. I've been getting the run around for 2 months now. I'm elderly on a fixed income and apparently easy to scam.

Misleading pricing, gouging customers
I called for a very basic dishwasher hook up. I was told that I would be charged $79 as a callout fee and that that amount would be applied toward any labour or parts that I chose to proceed with. The plumber who arrived told me that it would be a very quick and easy job (20 minutes) and that it would be $400. He told me that if he comes out to do a job no matter how simple the minimum he will charge is $400. Why then was I told there was a $79 call out charge? I feel this was very misleading. I have since compared this pricing to other companies and have found that $200 is generally a much more standard fee. Mr. Rooter is misrepresenting their prices and gouging customers.

water damage and poor quality work
Caused water damage resulting in water leaking through my ceiling into the story below and all over my furniture from a simple copper pipe repair. Also installed expansion tank in such a way that it cannot be accessed to check pressure. When I called and spoke to "Manager John" he agreed that he would send someone out to fix the expansion tank install free of charge. When tech Josh arrived the work which was promised to be free was now $400.Horrible business practices and lack of accountability. So many better plumbers out there.

RUN FROM ROOTER
They caused property damage to everything they encountered. They used no dust protection even though their hold music assures that they do. Their contracts are vague enough to hide what they intend to do, but detailed enough to prevent them from fixing the damage they cause. Everyone at the company referred to the previous team that worked on our property with insults. They have a culture of deception and high pressure tactics to get your money and run.

If I could give a zero I would!
If I could give a zero, I would!I set up an appointment for a drain clean in Rustic, Colorado for a 12PM-4PM timeframe. Seemed like a simple job and thier ads say they are trustworthy. They called me at 2:45 and said someone would be there as soon as they finished another job. I waited until 4PM and called to check the status and they said it would be before 6PM. I called them an hour later and was told that nobody would be coming that day as they had an emergency situation and only 1 plumber available. They tried to reschedule, but I drove 2+ hours from the Denver suburbs to be there and was busy the rest of the weeks and going out of town the following week....plus why would I trust them when they already left me hanging. I know it's often difficult to get service in the foothills and mountain regions, but they're lack of care and communication made it so I had to shut down the seasonal cabin for the winter without getting the sewer cleared. Guess I'll find someone (anyone) else next year when I re-open the cabin in the spring.Poor professional attitude and communication = 0 stars from me!

FAR too Expensive (3x competition)
Do NOT contact this company for work. They will charge you $99.00 to come out to give you a quote and will say they'll apply it to the job.1. They were triple the price (estimate) of extremely competitive companies in the Northeast (3X the cost)2. The estimator was over the top in terms of what was needed when in fact it was a fraction of need.Do yourself a favor, look somewhere else! Save your $99.00.

Mr. Rooter - Dishonest in multiple ways.
Mr. Rooter came to a rental I have to clean the drains through the basement clean. The guy who came out was either an owner or a manager. He ran the snake out and said he needed to scope it. So I paid the $300. He said it should be okay, but there are dips and bellies in the pipes that could be replaced for $15,000. Within hours poop etc was coming up through the drain. Whatever he did, he made it worse. The next day, he sent someone over and rooted it again. I had another company come out; they sent out a snake three times for 120 feet. Said it was roots. There has been no problem since. It seems to me that Mr. Rooter purposely did not correct the problem so they could offer to replace the pipes for an outrageous fifteen thousand dollars.

Never Again!!!
We have been customers of Mr Rooter Plumbing for some time and have always received good service at a fair price: until today. We were charged more the $700 to replace a kitchen faucet, not including the cost of the faucet. This was shameless gouging on their part. We paid because we had little choice but Mr. Rooter, that was the last $700 you will see from us!

Too Expensive
Had a couple plumbing problems. 1 major and 1 minor problem. When given the quotes to fix, it was way to expensive. The guy told me how to fix the minor problem problem and all it was, was to use a wrench and unscrew and replace the water shut off by the toilet and that's it. Im not a plumber so I just asked for a quote for something that seemed it would take no more than an hour to fix. The quote was almost $700. That's the last time i call Mr. Rooter

FRUSTRATED!
We contacted this company late Friday night due to a leak in our ceiling. They sent someone out Saturday morning, which we appreciated. We were told it would be a free estimate. At that point, the leak had stopped and the water damage was minimal. Before doing anything, the technician charged us $330 just to diagnose the issue—which took less than five minutes. It turned out to be a faulty drain plug in the bathtub. He then tore a hole in our ceiling and left a mess behind. We were charged another $220 (after a supposed $150 discount) for the repair. He went to Home Depot instead of the nearby Lowe’s and bought the cheapest part available, which wasn’t even compatible with our original setup and made bath time harder for our daughter. The part cost $35.00 but our total bill came to $600. Very disappointing, especially after being told the estimate was free.We were then told an inspector would call before coming out. No call—he just showed up. He didn’t have the proper tools to assess the damage but still quoted us $1,000–$3,000 to remove any water damage and we would still need someone else to come out and repair the wall. He also told us to pay our deductible directly to them so they could contact our insurance agent. That’s not how insurance claims work, and it felt pushy and misleading.Since then, we’ve called three times to speak with a manager. The call center and dispatcher said they sent emails. We also left two voicemails with the office. No response. Not a single follow-up.The only positive was how quickly they arrived. Beyond that, the experience was unprofessional, overpriced, and deeply frustrating. We’re left wondering if we were scammed.

Huge bill for a easy job
I’m writing this review with mixed feelings about the recent work performed by Mr. Rooter at my home. The issue was a leak in the kitchen sink drain pipe. The technician, Ali, addressed the problem by removing approximately one meter of corroded copper pipe and replacing it with PVC piping and rubber connectors. This was intended as a temporary emergency fix until I can replace the entire copper drain system with PVC.The repair itself was relatively straightforward. It involved cutting into the drywall ceiling below the sink to locate the leak, removing the damaged section of pipe, and installing the replacement. The entire process took about two hours from Ali’s arrival to departure. What left me disappointed was the cost. The final bill came to nearly $2,000, despite the parts being worth around $100 and the labor being minimal. Although I agreed to the quote after the diagnostic and drywall opening—initially estimated at around $300—I was under the impression that the job would be more time-consuming and complex. That misunderstanding was partly my fault for not asking more questions, but I still felt blindsided by the final cost. After the work was completed, I felt more like a victim than a valued customer. The pricing structure felt predatory, and the experience left a sour taste. I contacted the manager of the North York franchise the next day—Fred, if I recall correctly—and he was professional and courteous. He offered a $300 reduction to help resolve the issue, bringing the total to about $1,700.Unfortunately, I still have additional work ahead: replacing the rest of the copper drain pipe, patching the drywall holes, and repainting the ceiling. While the repair was effective, the overall experience was disappointing due to the cost and lack of transparency.

“Free” service call by Mr. Rooter Plumbing
We called Mr. Rooter Plumbing because our water heater pilot wouldn’t stay lit. After doing some research, I figured it was probably the igniter or thermocouple, but I didn’t want to mess with it myself. My wife scheduled a free service call, knowing of course there would be a catch. The next day, a tech named Tom (goes by “Tommy”) showed up. Within 5 minutes of looking at the unit, he told us the entire water heater had to be replaced—for $2,500. On top of that, he claimed the pan and placement didn’t meet code and insisted it needed to be reinstalled 18 inches off the ground, which would cost another $2,000. That’s a total of $4,300 plus tax. When my wife called me to discuss, I tried speaking with him directly, but he constantly talked over me and wouldn’t listen. That was enough for me; I told him thanks but we’ll be taking our business elsewhere. We ended up ordering a brand-new water heater through Home Depot. With installation by Fast Water Heater, it cost us $1,800 plus tax. It was done the next day, and everything passed city code exactly where the old one sat.I don’t think everyone at Mr. Rooter operates like Mr Tommy, but my experience felt like a sales pitch disguised as a service call. Instead of actually diagnosing the issue, it was straight to an overpriced replacement and scare tactics about code compliance. The customer service was rude, and the upselling was not ethical.Do yourself a favor and get quotes from other vendors before signing with Mr. Rooter.
