I signed up for Home Chef excited to…

I signed up for Home Chef excited to try the service, but immediately upon logging in, I realized the meal options were awful. Unfortunately, the cancellation process is intentionally convoluted and difficult to navigate. Despite my efforts to cancel immediately after signing up, they charged my card anyway. Avoid, avoid, avoid. If you don't pick meals during their narrow window, they will just charge you for random meals you don't want. Save yourself the hassle and the hidden fees, go with a different company that actually respects its customers' time and money

Cancellation is EXTREMELY hard …

Cancellation is made EXTREMELY challenging. First you must "pause" then REQUEST the cancellation option, then wait 5 days for them to decide if they will grant it, with the warning they will first FORCE you to identify yourself and that there may be other obstacles. Any company so anti customer service in cancelling should be a red flag to avoid in joining. Based on helping my lawyer wife try to cancel because she gave up.

Not even 1 star

Not even 1 star. They don’t honor their gift cards and then won’t refund the card giver. Complete scam.

This is the most insidious online…

This is the most insidious online business that I have ever had the displeasure to encounter. First of all in order to look at the menu I was forced to open an account. That was literally the only way that I could look at menu options. Upon discovering That there was nothing on the menu I wanted, I canceled my account immediately. Two days later, there’s an order delivered to my door that I did not approve or request. When I went to home, chef to try to log into my account, I cannot find a login page. The only way it will allow me to login is to use my Google account to do so. This is not how I set up my account. When I clicked on help, all I got was a chat bot who would not even give me an email address to send an email to this company. On top of that I do not even have an email confirmation in my mailbox that I even opened an account. This is a seriously insidious company. I’m not the least bit worried about losing my money, because I’m reporting them to my credit card as fraud. I did not approve this purchase, and I will not pay for it. And I hope Home chef checks these reviews because it’s not the first one I’m leaving!

Food is really good but their deliveries sometimes never show up or show up late and customer service is less than helpful. I’m tired of dealing with shipping issues.

An Issue EVERY week

Overall, one of the better meal delivery options but that says a lot about the others given this review. This week, I only received 3 of the 4 meals I ordered. Last week, I didn't receive the dessert I ordered. Several times, the entire box didn't come. It's really difficult when I work, and plan my meals around a service I can't count on. There have been issues with the vegetables as well, ie rotten or unusable. The recipes are good and the price is reasonable, but I'm looking for an alternative at this point. Really disappointed.

I just wanted to see the menu when I was looking at home chef to see if it was something I was interested in they asked for all your info for your address , email and phone number, after this I still did not see the menus , I backed out of the site without leaving my bank info. However, somehow a week later I was charged $90 for something I didn’t even sign up for!! I called and they told me that they would cancel my account. They were full of it because they did not cancel it and two weeks later I got charged another $90 . I called and was hung up on the first time around, called back and got the same story that the account would be canceled, I would just have to “verify “ my account with the email they sent me, I got the email to “ verify” my account any the link brought me to a main page again to sign up. This is a scam, even without my direct card information they used my Apple Pay to charge me for something I didn’t sign up for. Complete scammers!!

Home Chef Issues

Horrible website, poor instructions, non-existent customer service, shipped on wrong day, charged me for second order before I even got my first order. Too bad, because the ingredients were fresh, the instructions were clear and easy to follow and the dishes were quite tasty.

Home Chef Wtf

I went on line to look at the selections. I entered my card information to check the available offerings. I checked my account I was charged and I received a box with items that I would never serve to my family. I called to complain and the company did not offer anything to compensate. I cancelled my subscription

I wish I had come here BEFORE I started…

I wish I had come here BEFORE I started an order. You have to give your credit card before you even see the menu. So I have a box of REALLY EXPENSIVE meals coming that DON'T LOOK GOOD. We used Hello Fresh before and were looking for something a little different. I would NOT recommend this service.

I was not initially satisfied with the first order.

I was initially satisfied with the meals but found I was receiving assigned meals and not ones I chose. 4 out of 5 were chicken recipes. I have enjoyed some of the meals but almost every meal contains sour cream and I have become very tired if the basic taste of sour cream night after night. I’ve been ordering 4-5 dinners per week. We have lived several of their meals the trouts are usually good and like the salmon even more. I just can’t get past the overwhelming taste of sour cream night after night so for that reason I have to give them a 3. I also would like to mention my order this eeek was messed up. I received only 3 meals er could make. The 4th one arrived with a recipe but no ingredients. The 5 we received the recipe but no ingredient’s. Not sure what happened here.

Steer clear of them, fast to charge but slow to do anything else

I signed up, could not choose anything other than serving and people amounts per week. There was no welcome survey about dietary restrictions or preferences, and I assumed Id maybe get an email asking those, or some other next step for choosing meals. I saw none. I was confused if I even signed up. My card was charged the next day. I logged in and saw they chose meals for me, which looked very unappealing, but more importantly, also contained meat, which I do not eat or purchase at all. I wont be able to eat any of the meals, which were quickly shipped out same day as my card was charged, so I could not cancel. I called to try to remedy this, and was offered 50% off. I explained Id have to give away everything that arrived since I wouldnt be eating it, and was extremely upset to have my money go to purchasing animal meat products at all, but the rep said she could not do anything but 50% off. I am filing a charge back with my bank now, very very aggravated. Total crap company

They force you to sign up before you…

They force you to sign up before you can see the real options and real prices. Then when you cancel, they bill you for however many meals you listed in your preferences.

Don't sign up without reading this first

I made the account only to be able to see the menu - it does not let you see the meals unless you do so. I realized there were no meals that my children would like, so I immediately cancelled the plan. I then received a box of groceries and was charged $167. When I called, they explained that even opening the account automatically signs you up for your first shipment. They did give me a 50% refund, but this is still frustrating as my family doesn't even eat fish. I am giving most of the food away to neighbors - do NOT open an account unless you are absolutely certain you want the groceries!!!

Unreliable deliveries

I ordered one months worth of meals (2 per week) to add some new recipes to out meal options. My 1st delivery never arrived and the tracking stayed on created label. A refund was issued however, that is not an acceptable solution for me because now I had to replan and go shopping again for the week. The second week the meals arrived with no issues and to be fair they were both amazing and easy to prepare (scallops with mushroom risotto & pesto zucchini meatballs with pasta). Now our third delivery was late due to a storm that was out of their control but when it did arrive it only got 1 of our meals right and the other was wrong. I really wanted to look this but with 2 out of 3 orders having problems I will not be continuing and will explore some of the other companies offering this service. If home chef monitors their reviews perhaps you should have offered some sort of credit instead of just refunding the money for something that never arrived. This service is supposed to make things easier not harder.

Bait and Switch!

I was really interested, but they wouldn't even let me (or didn't make it obvious) look at food options without first requiring me to provide an email address, then actually make a commitment (including a credit card) to purchase from them. All I know is that they wanted $200 a week - over $14 a meal that I assume I have to cook myself! They got me interested at $5 a meal, then tripped it without even giving me an option to see what they were offering - actual food type or amount!

A Schemy Conniving Manipulative Company Set on Ripping You Off

DONT DO IT THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO TAKE MONEY FROM YOU THAT YOU WERENT PLANNING TO SPEND! A sneaky sneaky and manipulative company that does everything they can to sneak in micro fees and push deliveries, you’ll think you’ve skipped an order and didn’t, they add items to your order that you have to remove or they charge more, and their four step cancellation process (which involves reading lengthy pages that only show procedure at the very ends, pausing the account before attempting to cancel, pages that make it look like you’ve cancelled but didn’t, two verification emails and a phone call with customer service, which must be done during business hours) takes A MINIMUM of a 6-10 days of tasks and effort for cancelling your account! INSANITY. This is bordering on a breach of civil law and they should be sued, as Amazon is currently being sued, for being half as bad about cancelling accounts as this company.

Terrible customer service and the worst…

Terrible customer service and the worst food delivery service that I have ever experienced. I wish there was an option for zero stars. I signed up for this service and was in the process of making changes the same day. Suddenly, I received a email that my box was locked in for the week. I went to review the box and the changes that I had already made did not even take affect. It was simply the default selected meals for the week. Immediately reached out to customer service and they were no help at all. All they kept doing was referring me back to the terms and conditions of the food service. When the meals came in, they were soggy and tasteless. The frozen meals you buy at the grocery store are honestly better. For the amount of money they charge you wouldn’t expect better customer service and quality of food.

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. Menu is way more limited than advertised, only see it once you put payment info in. Can’t cancel the first order even though it promises it’s not billing you when you sign up. Don’t bother.
