Deep Atlas - Understand AI deeply
I took 2 week in person course in Nov 2025 at San Francisco. I have been a software engineer for 2 decades and AI & ML are a different way of thinking. Before AI & ML were black box to me but after the course I understand the concepts and inner working. Curriculum is a very fast paced and well formulated. We did multiple projects and exercises implementing the concepts from running our experiments to building own models to fine tuning to deploying and creating agents applications. Joseph is very patient in explaining and yet maintaining the pace. Tyler, Dough, Tristan and Tony are always ready to help and ready to engage in deep discussions. My cohort consisted of very smart people with diverse perspectives. It was enlightening to have deep and engaging discussions and see how everyone are thinking to apply it to solve different problems. On lighter note Many good food options available in vicinity :)All in all Smart people, good learning investment for my career, good vibes! Highly recommended.Advice : Be comfortable with vibe coding before starting the course.

Great for Backend Engineers Looking to Level Up in AI/ML
I joined Deep Atlas in November as a backend software engineer with zero AI/ML experience. My goal wasn't to become an ML engineer, but to gain enough exposure to speak confidently about AI/ML in staff engineer interviews and be able to collaborate effectively with ML teams. The program delivered exactly what I needed. I can now evaluate different model approaches, understand concepts like RAG, and collaborate meaningfully with ML engineers. I feel confident understanding ML architectures when others present them, though I'd need more hands-on projects to architect complex systems myself. The instructors were outstanding—they made complex concepts accessible and engaging, even for someone coming from a pure backend background. The pace was fast, but in a good way. It kept things intense and focused without being overwhelming. One area for improvement: the physical space where the bootcamp was held wasn't really optimized for a learning/teaching environment. It didn't detract significantly from the experience, but a better setup would have been nice.Overall, I'd highly recommend Deep Atlas to other backend or infrastructure engineers who want to level up their AI/ML knowledge without fully transitioning roles. It's a solid investment if you want to be a more well-rounded engineer in today's AI-driven landscape.

It's the people that makes the program…
It's the people that makes the program great. The staff and the students who take the course are all very interesting people. The staff is very cognizant on feedback, questions and how you feel about the course and will check on you. There are different modes to give your feedback/questions, through the jupyter notebook at the end, retrospective, video interview, checkups on breakout rooms, through discord, etc. They are always looking out on how to improve the program and will listen to you.

Traveled Far, Learned Deep
I traveled all the way from Europe to attend the DeepAtlas course in person in San Francisco and I think it was totally worth it.The curriculum is thoughtfully designed, delivering meaningful content that provides a solid foundation for anyone looking to break into the ML/AI industry. Considering its length (2 weeks) plus the pre-course (9 to 18 hours), I was a bit worried it would gloss over too many things but I feel I got more than I expected in terms of depth and practical applicability.I now feel genuinely well-equipped to continue exploring and advancing in the ML/AI space on my own, thanks to the clarity and direction this course has provided.Another aspect I wanted to praise was the quality of the staff, they were not only deeply knowledgeable but also highly effective and supportive throughout the program. The environment they fostered made learning both challenging and energising. Lastly, the cohort experience was outstanding. My fellow alumni came from a range of professional backgrounds, and the level of inspiration, collaboration, and shared curiosity made the entire journey all the more rewarding.Highly recommended for anyone serious about entering the world of machine learning and artificial intelligence.

No regrets - you’ll love it!
With the rapidly-changing tech landscape, I was in search of a way to ensure I was setting myself up for the future, and found myself researching AI and ML boot camps. I was exploring a few options when I noticed that the folks who created Deep Atlas also created the Hack Reactor boot camp, which I attended and absolutely loved, primarily because the teaching was so incredible, well thought out, and relevant. After chatting with the staff for a bit to understand the program, I was all-in, and my expectations were exceeded every step of the way. I left the course with a working understanding (a real understanding, not just “knowing the terms”) of core machine learning and AI concepts. Just today I was chatting with some coworkers in my company’s AI space, and I was following along with everything they said and didn’t even realize how deep the conversation had gotten until about halfway through, suddenly surprised that I was keeping up with no problems. That was quite an amazing realization, and Deep Atlas made it possible. If you’re looking for a way to get up to speed with the current AI/ML landscape and truly understand what it is, how it works, and how it applies to your future job, you can stop looking; this is the course you want. Worth every penny.

From Overwhelmed Engineer to Confident AI Builder in Weeks
When I first signed up for Deep Atlas, I was an experienced fullstack engineer working on AI software, but I felt like I couldn't reasonably learn AI/ML skills fast enough to keep up with how fast the field is moving. I honestly wasn't sure if getting a master’s or taking endless online courses would help and getting a PhD would take way too long.I took the leap with Deep Atlas because I knew I would learn the most about AI/ML in the shortest amount of time. The experience blew me away. I was amazed by how much care, thought, and energy they put into developing the curriculum and the instruction because it all felt cohesive and practical. The lightning talks also provided an engaging space to learn more and get to know my cohort mates better. I remember being on cloud nine after my lightning talk when my cohort mates brainstormed how we could improve my font pairing project.Looking back, the difference in my AI/ML skills before and after the program is night and day. Before, I would psyche myself out because I thought building AI/ML systems required a PhD. Now, I have a working understanding of the math behind these algorithms and systems. Putting this knowledge into practice, in the month after the program, my cohort mate and I applied what we learned by building a RAG application that uses blog posts from a real e-commerce site, so users can make more informed decisions about what products to purchase. This program has real-world results. Before the end of the program, I signed an offer to be a software engineer at an AI consultancy and was being considered for a Senior ML Engineer position at a Fortune 100 company. If you're wondering if Deep Atlas is worth your time, money, and energy, it is IF you are willing to work hard. You’ll also have fun with exceptional people along the way. It definitely will help you gain a solid foundation in building AI/ML systems.

Awesome Experience
Deep Atlas met and then passed my expectations! At Google, my new role expects me to understand enough about AI/ML (conceptually as well as practically) to make good judgement calls in adjacent spaces. Without exception, everything taught at Deep Atlas has been applicable within days. Additionally, my own personal interest was also fulfilled; my ML side-project goals are achievable and clear. I also cannot stress enough how amazing the instructors were; their commitment and talent in teaching complex subjects was clear in every lecture and assignment. I was concerned my (frankly) less than stellar math background would be an impediment, but their delightful strategy of metaphors, psychological safety, building from first principles, and pointing us towards additional resources if we wanted to dive deeper made this a non-issue.

An incredible way to fast-track yourself into AI/ML engineering
I just finished this program and have to say it delivers. Coming from almost no background in AI or ML, I now feel confident to tackle my own projects or interviewing for AI/ML engineering roles. The course is an effective mix of lectures and hands-on projects. The instructors have put a lot of care into both aspects of this program. The lecture content delivers solid technical understanding without getting lost in the mathematical weeds -- a tough balance to pull off. The exercises and projects are well thought out and structured and serve as good templates for diving into your own projects afterwards. If you want to accelerate your way into the AI/ML world, Deep Atlas is well worth the investment.

A Transformational Leap Into AI Mastery—Essential for Any Serious Technologist
Deep Atlas’ ML program was nothing short of a teleportation experience into a new era of AI clarity and mastery. As a seasoned technologist who has built large, distributed, and complex systems across industries, I already had a strong foundation—but this program expanded my expertise in exactly the way the world and market demand right now.It provided a clear, uncompromising signal through the AI noise, equipping me with the technical depth, strategic insight, and production-ready frameworks to architect and articulate AI products and services with confidence. The impact? It directly unlocked deal flow for my startup. Instead of navigating AI as an adjacent trend, I am leading with an AI-driven approach—building with precision, speaking with authority, and creating technology that truly delivers.Much like their former HRR program, Deep Atlas ML delivers a world-class foundation, empowering those who are shaping the next generation of AI-powered businesses, marketplaces, and products. If you’re a serious technologist, you can’t afford to just observe the AI revolution—you need to be driving it.

Best way to expand your SWE knowledge to work in AI
Incredible experience! As a software engineer, I wanted to gain a solid understanding of AI/ML, especially since building with this technology is becoming essential. I originally joined to learn how to fine-tune an LLM for a RAG project, but I walked away with a strong foundation in modern AI/ML, including shallow learning, deep learning, and leveraging ML effectively. By the end of the program, I could train and fine-tune my own models, but more importantly, I developed a big-picture understanding of how AI/ML fits into software engineering and production systems. Some highlights from my experience: ✅ Built AI agents from scratch ✅ Implemented RAG pipelines (many times!) ✅ Explored fine-tuning techniques like head-tuning & LoRA ✅ Worked with deep learning models, including neural networks ✅ Trained shallow models for classification tasks The biggest takeaway? Learning how to evaluate AI solutions effectively and implement production-ready strategies all while developing an intuition for data, training time, and avoiding unnecessary complexity.

Excellent program; go get your hands dirty!
Pros: Deep Atlas is an excellent program designed to toss the unsuspecting into solving practical ML problems and learning about overall ML approaches. It lasts a fortnight and is a great start to becoming an MLE or launching one's own ML projects. The program really shines on the practical learning aspects and ramps students up rather quickly. With a fast pace amid long hours, the full time length of only 2 weeks likely makes it a palatable option for those who can take time off from their day jobs or other projects while making decent inroads into ML. (Productivity and efficiency are maximized each day). The instructors, TAs, & operations gurus are pretty kind and really motivated to encourage success; they take the time to help out and explain. The student population are from diverse backgrounds (in purely the tech and non tech sense), which is really refreshing. Cons: eh, I didn't really experience any beyond wishing that the program would not end. It's actually fun and makes a nice change from other courses' slogs through the purely theoretical.
