Friendly cafe team
Special mention for the staff in the cafe, very helpful and friendly. We were on the twilight offer, floating in the open air rooftop pool to watch the sunset followed by a light supper. A very enjoyable evening.

recently visited Thermae Bath Spa and had such a wonderful experience from start to finish. Rebecca and Craig were incredibly accommodating and welcoming, which made our visit even more special.Rebecca took the time to walk us through the facilities and explain the history of the spa, which really added to the overall experience. Her knowledge and enthusiasm were evident, and she was so patient in answering all of our questions. Craig was just as friendly and attentive, making sure we felt comfortable and well looked after throughout our time there.Their professionalism and warmth truly enhanced our visit. It’s clear they both take pride in what they do, and their customer service made a relaxing experience even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend visiting, and if you’re lucky enough to be looked after by Rebecca and Craig, you’re in great hands!
GoodOpen air pool and covered Minerva pool were lovely. A very nice experience to bathe in the hot, mineral spring water, with a stunning view from the open air pool.Bad- soggy carpets in the lifts are disgusting! Why not put a drainable duckboard down instead? - I checked my locker was closed on 2 occasions and when I returned to it, it was open. Nothing was stolen but the lockers are not a safe place to leave your valuables.- The Wellness Suite needs a map at the entrance, as it's hard to locate the different rooms once you're inside it. There was no visibility at all in the ice chamber, and almost none in the Georgian steam room, which made it stressful instead of relaxing. The Celestial Relaxation room only had about 5 beds so impossible to find a free one.- The layout is like a town house, i.e. tall with lots of floors and only 2 lifts (1 was OOO when I visited). It would have been much more relaxing to have it on only 1 or 2 levels, although I understand that isn't possible due to where the hot springs are located. It would be nice to enjoy swimming in the hot spa water, as you could in the old swimming pool that the Thermae Spa replaced, without having to pay so much for facilities that you can't really even enjoy. Even the Cross Bath is very expensive now. I learnt to swim in those old baths. Why should I have to pay £44 for the privilege now?
When this place opened. A few years ago it was amazing. Sadly now it’s a poor tourist trap. No foot wear provided you have to provide it. Lots of bare feet, unhygienic. Hello verrucas! Staff couldn’t care less. Poor information. Treatments very basic standards. Really sad. Wouldn’t go again or recommend it.
⭐ 1 Star – Extremely Disappointing Experience & Serious Security ConcernsI visited Bath Thermae Spa on a work wellbeing trip, which should have been a relaxing and enjoyable day. Unfortunately, it turned into a very distressing experience due to the theft of my personal belongings and the lack of support from staff.I stored my rings inside a small gold pill box in a locked locker, along with my glasses. When I returned, the locker was still closed but was not the same locker I had originally used. My glasses and rings were gone.My colleagues and I searched everywhere — bags, benches, floors, rubbish bins, laundry bins — but the items were nowhere to be found. When I reported this to staff, the response was extremely poor. I was handed a notebook and told to record it as “lost property”, despite the fact that the items were clearly stolen from a locked locker. The notebook itself contained the names and phone numbers of previous guests who had also had items taken, which raises serious concerns about both security and data protection. We asked about CCTV, only to be told the cameras were dummy units. We had to request a manager ourselves, and there appeared to be no proper process for dealing with thefts or supporting guests in these situations. No one offered assistance, and no one offered to contact the police. We were left to handle everything ourselves.Given the circumstances, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the security of the facilities and the attitude towards guest safety. I have reported the theft to the police and am awaiting a crime reference number.A wellbeing day should not end like this, and I hope the spa takes these issues seriously for the sake of future guests
Overall poor. Made worst by theft from a locker, this had to have been opened by a wristband as it was checked and double checked before being left, this points entirely to staff. In reporting said theft absolutely no cares given by staff and a note book handed over to write in, fully able to view all the personal details of the other poor people who have experienced theft there GDPR breach surely? Upsetting experience I would spend your hard earned money elsewhere
My friends wedding ring, engagement and eternity ring were in a little gold pill box and were stolen from her locker today. The staff and managers know this kind of thing goes on as I found a review on Tripadvisor dated Aud 2025 who had had the same thing happen to them. And the staff couldn’t care less. Not their problem. It’s all at your own risk apparently. Well it must be staff that are doing the stealing then.
"No mercy for a 15-day delay? Shame! This policy lacks all heart. You'd find more understanding from a stranger than from this university's financial office. It is a shameful practice that punishes students instead of supporting them. Shame on this lack of compassion!"
I’m a single women and visited alone , it’s full of smooching couples , one women looked like she was doing the deed in the rooftop pool , I felt uncomfortable, do not visit unless you want to see couples everywhere . This made me feel terribly alone , not the experience I expected.
What was great about my experience was the welcome from the friendly staff, special shout out to Jacomo! The facilities were clean, steam room and sauna were great spaces to relax and unwind. All this was capped off with the exquisite roof top pool. Could not fault the cleanliness of the toilets, showers and changing rooms. You could see staff visibly putting the effort in to make it a nice experience.
My friend and I just wanted to use the 2 pools and we found it wonderful and relaxing.Well worth the money for 2 hoursWould recommend the pools but I cant recommend the SPA because we did not have any treatments.
Not worth visiting, I understood is a spa aiming at tourist without providing high services. The facilities looked dirty and unhygienic. The massage service was totally unprofessional. The room was freezing so before we started I asked to turn down the AC. The masser told me that he doesn't have the remote. when I said it was cold he said "so? There are blankets". I should have ended the massage immediately. I could not enjoy the massage as i was freezing. The lights were full on, I have never seen that in my life. Massage was not on a professional level as I have regular massages. Foot massage was a joke, it was like it wasn’t from somebody that knew what he was doing. When I said foot massage could be harder he told me "that was medium pressure, if you wanted deep tissue you should have booked deep tissue massage". Deep tissue for foot massage? I feel I was robbed. That is completely unacceptable, from the skills of the masser to his behaviour. Don’t fall for the ads it’s a rip off.
A Terrible Experience – A Complete Waste of a Birthday GiftI received a gift card for this thermal spa in Bath for my birthday, and unfortunately, it was an absolute letdown. The entire experience was overpriced and severely overrated. The thermal pool was nothing more than a large jacuzzi, with half of the features not even functioning. For the cost, I expected much more. The hygiene was appalling throughout the facility. The changing rooms were filthy, with piles of dirty laundry everywhere. The glass panels on the roof terrace were streaked and dirty, and the area itself was outdated, clearly in need of repairs. There weren’t even proper spaces to leave your towels or belongings, and the spa gowns provided were disgusting – they were stained and clearly not cleaned after use.To top it off, there were no cleaning systems in place for the steam room or sauna, which left me questioning the overall cleanliness. I left after a very short time – this entire experience felt like a total waste of time and money.I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I certainly won’t be returning. This place needs a serious overhaul of your standards. I would love my son to get his money back !!!
I wouldn’t recommend the massage treatments, as they were done poorly and seem mainly aimed at tourists. However, the sauna, thermal pools, and baths are ок for relaxing.”
I booked a birthday treat for my sister and myself at Bath Thermae with a back neck and head massage costing £250 . The Thermae was okay, not so overcrowded as I’ve seen it before , but never had a treatment there so thought would try it, never again, it was abysmal. The therapist said before starting this is a medium pressure massage , so I said okay not realising once she started that her touch was so feather light that I felt I wasn’t even having a massage, I then asked her to give me a firmer massage so that I could at least feel pressure going into the muscles to relax me, whereupon she said I can’t do that because you never booked a deep tissue massage and it’s company policy to what you booked. I said at least put a bit more feel into the massage, she said that this is a medium massage, upon I said to her don’t bother doing any more I’m getting nothing out of this, She completed ten minutes of my hour massage and I was completely annoyed, whereupon she said she would talk to the manager,I then got dressed and waited to see someone, this asst manager said exactly the same thing as the therapist as she said you booked for this massage, yes I booked for a massage but I’ve been to load of spas whereupon the therapist said would you like medium or firm ,but not Bath Spa my sister then completed her massage and I asked her how hers was and she too was thoroughly disappointed , the therapist didn’t even speak to her . When we arrived at the massage reception we were told to be there fifteen minutes before, so that took off fifteen minutes of our two hour spa, then taken to therapy room, the therapist asked my sister to get changed and said I’ll be back in a couple of minutes, seven minutes later she reappeared and the finished the treatment five minutes early,so in essence she lost twelve minutes of massage and as it only took us a couple of minutes to fill in questionnaire say twelve minutes wasted of Spa, we saw the manager on way out, she listened to us ,didn’t apologise but gave us two free tickets to the Spa again, however to me that did not even cover the fact that the treatment was awful, so in my opinion unless you like light massages don’t book it , because I wasted my hard earned money to which we got nothing out of it
Deep Disappointment with Spa Policy at Thermae Bath SpaWe visited Thermae Bath Spa with high expectations, having received a thoughtful gift voucher from friends that included access and a meal. Unfortunately, what was meant to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience turned into something deeply upsetting and, frankly, hard to believe.Upon arrival, I was informed that I would have to leave my phone behind as part of your no-phone policy. I understand the intention behind this, privacy, relaxation, and discouraging photography. However, when I explained that I have children and must remain contactable in case of an emergency, I was told the rule still applied. I found this extremely distressing. As a mother and someone who supports other women through my work (including arranging childcare so they can attend courses or access support), I am very aware of how crucial it is for parents to be reachable. My children were left with responsible adults, but I still hold full legal and moral responsibility for them. If something were to happen and I was unreachable, the consequences could be serious, and completely unavoidable. We asked whether we could at least have our meal from the voucher while keeping a phone nearby, but this was also refused. In today’s world, being completely cut off is not realistic for many people, especially parents. Museums and cultural venues request that people refrain from taking photos, but they do not confiscate personal devices. Why can’t your policy follow a similar approach?I left feeling frustrated, powerless, and honestly, as if my rights and responsibilities as a parent had been disregarded. I truly believe this kind of rigid policy doesn’t reflect the needs or realities of modern visitors. A spa should be a place of comfort and care, not a place where someone feels they must choose between relaxation and their duty of care as a parent.Sadly, I cannot recommend this experience to anyone, especially fellow parents. I hope this feedback encourages your team to reconsider the policy and introduce more flexible, humane solutions for people in situations like mine.
When in Bath....don't visit the Thermae Spa if you want a relaxing Spa experience. It resembles a public swimming pool, with life guards on alert with whistles, pools full to bursting and the noise of loud chatter is deafening. There is nothing relaxing about it at all! It is a non zen zone. How sad, or naive, to think the town of the original Baths would have a Spa to beat the rest.
4 of us visited on 03/04/2025Having visited spas previously I was surprised to find we had to supply our own footwear and found that this cheapend the experience along with the tatty robes and sandpaper towels. The pools were lovely and relaxing but the sauna wasn't hot enough and one of the steam rooms was definitely missing the aroma. They had 2 lifts but only 1 was working which led to long waits to go up and down to the diffrent levels. We had booked an afternoon tea the staff were lovely but the cafe reminded me of a leisure centre cafe and the salmon and cream cheese sandwiches were in fact salmon paste which again the above made the experience feel cheep and lacking the luxury shown in the website.Unable to post any photos as they take your phones and lock in a case as my sister was visiting from abroad it would have been nice to have got some photos for memories. All in all the pools are lovely but the rest felt cheap and tired and not the luxuary experience that we expected or paid for .
Got an allergic reaction from all the chemicals in the rooftop pool, place was over crowded and dirty, flip flops mysteriously went missing.
Booked a couple of years ago - £250 for a couples massage and two hour spa session. The water was tepid, the massages were good, on the whole a pretty average experience that left me feeling a bit like a cash cow. Went to enquire to book again, perhaps hoping the water might be warmer this time and the experience less average, to find they are charging a whopping £340 for both the massages and the spa. You simply have to be joking. Booked in a masseur and a dinner elsewhere. What an absolute joke.
