A random paycheck in excess of $6,000…A random paycheck in excess of $6,000 was drawn on my bank instead of the amount that was supposed to be paid. Numerous non-sensical emails back and forth. Finally got a live person who had me explain the problem (15 minutes) then transferred me to someone else who kept me in the phone an hour without resolution. It was obvious he was jerking me around because when I told him how frustrated I was that there was no resolution he said he didn’t like the way I was speaking with him. He kept me on and off hold for almost an hour. When I had to start another appt he said he’d email the info - never happened. There was supposed to be an evaluation at the end if the call, but he hung up so that I could not leave one. His sadistic style convinced me to close my merchant services account and payroll. The people I dealt with were unable to comprehend the simple question “why was my paycheck draw $6,000 more that it was supposed to be?” It’s a straightforward monthly salary, but the responses I got indicated people could not listen, or do mathematics, or payroll. Stay away from this company.

Piss poor customer service in liars
I had a customer that was told not to use a credit card when I billed them an invoice, I then had to refund the money back to the customer square wants to charge me a fee of $152 for transaction where I explained to them the situation in return Leonard I spoke to on the phone said to go back into my account set it up with the banking and then they would waive the fee one time. I just got off the phone with square and they said Leonard never documented anything and that they refuse to refund the fee , in the end squares customer service is awful pretty typical for customer service these days. I will no longer be using them and I will do everything possible to let everybody know how pissed poor they are.

Any sort of transition between contact information or account management leaves you unable to access square at all. and their help line is completely useless, missed out on 4 potential jobs and had 0 access to the money in my account for 3 days.

Subscribed to invoice plus, however when sending estimates to customers and using the automatically convert to invoice option when the customer accepts the estimate it does not use the pre selected invoice template. In fact it doesn’t use a template at all it keeps the same information from the estimate. It worked at one point but stopped. So I’m having to go in after each customer accepts the estimate and input information for invoice.

I find the Square platform to be Unintuitive and Overly Complicated
I find the Square platform to be the most unintuitive platform. I do a lot of editing for websites on a lot of different platforms, but Square has always been difficult. What makes it so is that it seems like the back end is constantly changing/being updated and the help documents don't line up to the new changes. It makes it extremely frustrating when one needs to make one small (and theoretically easy) change that takes well over an hour to find how to change it. I actively tell people to not use this platform.

They once again are raising instant transfer fees on top of existing hiked up fees, risky account holds/freezes, poor customer support, higher costs for high-volume businesses, limited customization and advanced features, potential security issues due to its aggregator model, and dependency on internet connectivity, it claims to be great for small business and that is not the case. My advice for small business start ups fund a good bank that has free merchant services and take the time to set that up. It will save you alot of money in the end and bonus there is actually a person you can sit and talk to if you run into problems or questions.

My account was compromised and square sent the scammer $3000 in a disputed scam claim. Dealing with square employees has been horrendous! They won’t give you any help or information. Everyone i spoke to kept denying me access to a supervisor or manager. I was promised a response regarding the issue after 1-2 business days. Nothing after a week!! Everyone I call I get the same answerers “ they will call or email you within 1-2 business days… that timeframe is up a week ago and still can’t get answers. Completely unprofessional and unethical company! Beware!!

One year in with Square and no complaints! I'm sure there are cheaper processing fees out there, but square makes everything SO easy integrating payroll/tips/ making it so easy to set up POS, and more.
