A long time customerโ€ฆ.

Some great technology but not particularly impressed with their investment performance! I give them high marks for diversifying but I have little difficulty beating their performance! I keep only a portion invested with them as a hedge on the off chance I am wrong:) The Rebranding was a remarkable stupid decision!

PURE POISON

Pure poison. Invested 100k. They managed to lose 12.5 % or $12,420 in 20 months. We're retired 67 years old. They lost or stole $6,108 from date of closing 08/15/2023 to date of payout 08/21/2023, three business days in total. Multiple errors throughout on their part. The most egregious act was to cold call us and try and talk us into investing another $250,000 that was in a high yield savings account. We've been cut off from the financial advisor and the advisory team. Emails returns with delivery failure notices unable to schedule calls which was very easy when they had our money. Fiduciary investment firm, you decide.

if you see this here then don't useโ€ฆ

if you see this here then don't use them to invest with. They pull you for money every month and won't give out what you have there. I have now been using them for 2 years now. I have been promised payment every month, but they come up with excuses every month. They lie about what they stand for and they will not provide any proof of what they say. I don't know if it's a scam centre, but to me it feels that way. SO DON'T USE PERSONAL CAPITAL IF YOU ARE GOING TO INVEST IN SOMETHING.

SUCH a bad decision

SUCH a bad decision. I was interested in consolidating my wealth from three separate financial institutions in an effort to make it easier for me to manage my investments and ultimately easier for my children to divide and receive inheritance upon my death. Of course, when speaking to their marketing team representative it sounds easy and rosy with a lot of pressure to quickly get it done. Once half of my investments rolled over into Personal Capital - which happened instantaneously with one financial institution (the other two, thankfully, required paperwork and signatures), I got cold feet about my decision and decided to hold off on rolling over the other two accounts. The Personal Capital financial planner with whom I was paired had an aggressive, greedy attitude and boldly told me he was not interested in being a Guiney pig to manage only half of my investments. My investments in mutual funds and ETFs at the other firms, which are honestly doing fine, will be much easier for my children to distribute upon death; the multitude of small quantity stocks - which is the way Personal Capital invests - is going to be difficult to distribute (each child gets 1.5 shares of Amazon, etc.?). It has been approximately one year since I made this change -and the effect of having sold everything in one financial institution to reinvest with Personal Capital (now Empower) pushed my MAGI up over 500% - leaving me with a Huge tax burden for 2022 and restricting me from contributing to an IRA this past year. Understandably, this is a one-time event - but I feel this should not have occurred if they were looking out for my best interests - moving smaller quantities over a couple of years would have made more sense, but that's clearly not how they operate. I'm now locked in - there's no financially sound way to go back - and I'm having to pay the .89% PC charges to mange these investments/stocks. I so regret my decision. I would recommend consulting with independent financial planners - get various points of views - prior to making the commitment. For someone with multiple millions, this may make sense; for me, it will haunt me as the worst financial decision I have ever made. The one positive feature of Personal Capital/Empower is their snapshot dashboard tool that tracks your investments in real time - a free feature. Use this tool and don't feel pressured to move your investments. For the record, I'm a 61 yo female closing in on retirement.

Personal Capital Support Deteriorating

Personal Capital, now Empowerment is no longer the responsive company I am use to working with. Their dashboard and financial planning has been accurate and very informative. When there are issues, their support got things resolved within 2-3 weeks, sometimes the next day. Now, things have changed, support lacks responsiveness and cannot give ETAs on fixes.IT is not exact science however it raises the question of the capabilities of their personnel to get things fixed. Something has to change.

This is the best aggregator tool I have ever used

This is the best aggregator tool I have found to give me an overall view of my portfolio. Keep up the good job.Just a heads up: you WILL get marketing calls to convince you to join their active management group (i.e. they will manage your money for a fee) - but I understand that building the app costs money.

I would like the retirement calculatorโ€ฆ

I would like the retirement calculator to have adjustable returns. Also, being able to adjust incorrect entries pulled in from accounts. When things are wrong, there is no way to correct them.

Easy to read Dashboards

Dashboard is clean and easy to read, they actually partner with AMEX for charges unlike competitors who miss this crucial partnership for true financial overview.

Scam promotions, high fees

Back in May, I received a promotional offer where if I took 2 calls with a financial advisor and received a portfolio recommendation, I would receive $100 in my cash account. I actually went through several additional calls and seriously considered the services, but ultimately turned down them down for the time being. Thank god I did. Itโ€™s been months since then, and they have never paid out the offer. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SIMILAR, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. I have been back and forth with support for weeks now, who continue to only say they are โ€œreviewing my case but do not have an ETAโ€.Personal Capital is fine for tracking assets, but I would not trust them with your money or time. All they care about is selling their overpriced financial services to you.

Canโ€™t say whether I like it or not

Canโ€™t say whether I like it or not, I just need something to balance my bank accounts & coming from Quicken, it is a lot different. Iโ€™ll re-rate it again once Iโ€™m familiar with how it works.

needs alot of help

you need to build your site like morningstar with tools people can use like a manual portfolio and not just this total control thing. you cant add dividends or track old data. i tried to talk to someone and was told we only have email and no talking to a live person. i was hoping to find a new free site since morningstar is a pay site now, that cuts in to the profits. when you upgrade your site and want to be user friendly and talk to people give me a shout until then i will continue looking or stay with morningstar.

Just Started

Just started. Not yet. Very disappointed I can't manually enter transactions and have them then match up with downloaded/uploaded transactions from online accounts for a more accurate up to the minute and penny accuracy.

Highly recommended

I'm a retired Portfolio Manager from a major Wall Street firm. I think Personal Capital is a great way to safely view various accounts in the aggregate without putting all of your faith in one institution. Personal Capital provides good ways to view your accounts and their holdings, and with many good tracking applications within the site. As a "self-directed" investor I do occasionally get annoyed by the pitches to manage my investments. I do wish they had a way I could pay for the services I use and not feel like I have random advisors trying to pitch me on a fee based account. I know they have to have a revenue source, but I would happily pay for the benefit I receive.

Terrible Experience

The free tools have been great for me, so when I saw a promotional free 6 month offer I thought I'd try out the services. Everyone I talked to was nice, although unreliable as far as following up on questions I had. A few months into what I though was my promotional period, my advisor left the company and I got a new one. Coming up on five months, I asked my new advisor when my promotional period ended (multiple times) and found out that I had actually been charged the entire time. According to them, I didn't meet the $250k account balance to get the promotional offer. Terrible communication on their part. The offer says "$250k in investable assets" at the time to qualify. I thought I met this, but apparently they don't count the 401k that can't be transferred to a PC account, even though they were still managing it. Nobody mentioned this. From the conversations with my advisor, I though I was on a 6 month promotional period still. When I asked for a refund, they offered me 6 months of free services starting now. This company is an absolute joke. Besides them duping me into paying them for 5 months of service, the allocations they gave me are under performing the S&P500 (historically over several years) when I said I want an aggressive portfolio. All trust has been destroyed.
