I LOVE Ooma!

I signed up for Ooma in January 2015 and have been a member since then. I love having a second phone number that acts as a "home number" with the area code where I live since I can use it to contact local service providers who seem to respond faster when they get a call from their local area code. And the fact that I pay only the tax for this service makes it a NO BRAINER and an absolutely UNBEATABLE DEAL!

Get a carrier pigeon instead or a rope to hang yourself

I was with them ~ 5 years. When I ported my number to a different carrier, they refused(twice by phone) to cancel the account. They said they had to wait for some unexplained notification email. This was over a week after my # was gone and they still said they were going to continue billing me. It was like an argument about politics with someone who has made up their mind and will not be swayed. I had to have my bank stop payment to get away from these fiends! Avoid at all costs, they will try to hold your phone service captive.

I started using Ooma last year in March…

I started using Ooma last year in March after my home phone stopped working with my old phone company (AT&T) the way it worked was through a similar device like Ooma's a small box that the phone would connect, but they stopped supporting it and when my box broke they couldn't fix it and customer service couldn't help me with my problem, so I started looking into other ways to get home phone and I found Ooma which was almost the same thing, but way more affordable. Is it perfect, no it does have to be connected to the internet, (but what isn't nowadays) you don't get bills online or in the mail, you need to have a credit card on file for the payment to be taken out of which is fine, but if you forget that your card expired you don't get any kind of notification that your account needs attention. I like that you can know and listen to your messages on your cell phone through their app that is a great benefit, you can even bring your old home phone number with you for a fee but it's not too bad. Overall, I would recommend Ooma to anyone that still want's their home phone but needs to cut down on the cost of a landline.

Customer service at it's best

The customer service went above and beyond to accommodate my request. We have been using Ooma Office for over a year now, and every time I reach out with a request, I always get the same great customer service experience.

Basic service with notable gaps in support, features, and reporting

Ooma offers a straightforward VoIP service, but after using it for some time, there are real gaps that are hard to overlook. Customer support is inconsistent; some interactions are helpful, while others leave you without answers or resolution. The setup process, while marketed as simple, can be surprisingly complicated depending on your configuration needs.Compared to other VoIP providers, Ooma is missing features I'd come to rely on. Reporting and analytics feel underdeveloped; the data isn't always accurate, and it's genuinely difficult to get a clear picture of usage or performance. When you need information quickly, that lack of transparency is frustrating. It works for very basic needs, but if you're coming from a more full-featured VoIP platform, expect to feel the limitations. There's room for significant improvement.

Great Small Biz Phone Service

Ooma is a very good small business phone service provider. It is convenient to be able to use a desk phone or to use your business number from an app on your cell phone, so that you can work from anywhere. The voicemails recordings can be emailed to you for easy access to your voicemail in multiple formats. I recently traveled and still needed to work while out of town, so having Ooma was so helpful to be able to use our office phone number to make work calls from the app while on the road and I did not need to use my personal cell phone number.

So happy I switched to Ooma in 2014

So happy I switched to Ooma in 2014! As long as I have internet, I have basic VOIP phone service and easy-to-use app for about $8/month. I recommended it to missionary friends, and it is absolutely perfect and portable for them, keeping an inexpensive US phone number with them no matter where they are. This would be great for expats, etc also... If you are considering, I feel confident you will be wishing you made the switch sooner!

Simple to set up

Simple to set up, though it does take several days to port your number. It would normally cost about $17/month for the Premier Plan but I purchased it through Costco and you get 12 months at the Basic Plan price. For $100 i got the reduced Premier price, the device, and three handsets. The app is great. It shows if you get a call that you can answer through your phone. It also will show missed calls and you can access your messages. It has been a good experience so far. I have not had a reason to use the international calling at this point.

So far very good for our needs

So far very good for our needs. We wanted to keep our landline number that we have had for many years and Ooma has suited us. Ooma is far less expensive than what we were paying a cable company in a bundled package.

calls to Ooma won't pickup from iPhone Ooma app

I was hoping the Ooma app for iPhone would be useful for allowing me to pickup inbound calls for Ooma from my iPhone. Nope. I get a single ring on the iPhone, and then it becomes a missed call. Such a bummer. I've tried everything (reboot everything, reinstall, etc). Nothing changes.
