Nalgene has abandoned their quality
Nalgene has abandoned their commitment to quality... I’m sad to be writing this as I’ve been a strong supporter of Nalgene for over a decade. Nalgene used to brag about how you could drive a truck over their bottles but clearly those days are gone. The new Nalgene bottle I received for Christmas was such terrible quality that on the very first day I used it, it fell 3 feet from a stroller and broke on impact… See attached picture. It’s a sad day to learn that Nalgene has made the decision to sacrifice their once impeccable quality for profits.

I'm a Nalgene freak
I'm a Nalgene freak. I once had a bottle cap break after years of abuse, and when I contacted Nalgene customer support, they mailed me a new one for free. I really couldn't believe that they stood behind their product that much. To this day, I have 5 of them that I fill with water every day and drink like a camel. I also buy them for my friends all the time, because this company is just so rare and awesome that I want to support it.

One of the worst online ordering experiences
One of the worst e-commerce experiences I have ever had. To start with the Nalgene.com website and shopping cart system is a latent mess. Page load times are all over the place. E-Commerce pages do not reflect inventory levels so finding something that is actually in stock can take 10 - 15 minutes of adding items to the cart, and then checking the cart subtotal to see if it changes all while waiting and waiting for each page / request to load. Then displayed prices may not be the same that appear in the cart. Order processing/handling can take 7 - 10 days with another 7 -10 days for the actual shipping to occur so be ready for credit card transactions to take weeks to process (like it's the 1970s). I imagine that their warehouse activities and inventory control are something from a Portlandia skit. Just order from another online retailer if you actually want to purchase a bottle. Anywhere, but the actual Nalgene.com site is better regardless of the cost. Sears Catalog ordering by mail in the early 1900s was faster.

After sitting on the idea for years
After sitting on the idea for years, I finally came to purchase a water bottle from Nalgene a year or so ago. The bottle holds up today with only a ton of scuffing, but no real damage. Although, I wouldn't drop it from height with anything in it, I'm sure it would be fine falling empty. In the future, it would be nice if they could find a way to keep the water (or whatever inside) at a cooled down temperature, sort of like the Big Chill from Camelbak. Otherwise, I love it and use it on a daily basis.
