They tell a good story but can't deliver the goods
They tell a good story, but fail to deliver when the economy is tough. I attended a VC event and was hooked by the messaging. Who doesn't want to feel like Rod Tidwell in Jerry Maguire with that famous catchphrase?! But as with too many job interview help services these days, many are built on hype and fall way short. This company claims they'll put you in a great position to land a great job. But when the clock's ticking, they can't apply to enough roles fast enough, can't grow your network well, and don't provide enough personal support. They've got good storytelling, but after a few months, there isn't anything else to show for it, not offers, not interviews, and certainly not leads. It doesn't help that the founder is an egomaniac; any deviation from the gospel, and you're dead to him. Oh well.
