Epic Fail Events
Today I ran my first event organised by Epic Events at Delamere forest. From the parking Marshall hitting my car when I arrived and then getting in my face and shouting about absolutely nothing, to them entirely depending on the toilet facilities of the visitors centre, poor feed stations, poor route marking and then to top it all off it wasn’t even half marathon distance, the course was short. I won’t be doing one again.

Please could someone from customer service please contact me asap. I am appalled at how I was mislead into paying two packages for my son's 9th birthday party. Nevermind the disappointment caused to him. We discussed the what the packages included, I was told that it included all equipment. I actually asked if there were any additional cost and told 'no don't worry everything you need is included, he will have a great time'. When I rang to book i was told that I now needed to pay £22.99 in addition for each ticket. That is an additional £459.80, which i simply don't have as a single mum. Reading other reviews i am not the only one this has happened too. This is apparently for the unlimited mini balls. I recall asking specifically about the balls the kids would use, the salesman picked them up to show me. At no time did he say, this would cost an additional 22.99 per child, again reassuring all was included. I actually feel physically sick that someone in this day and age still practices selling in this manner. I spoke to the sales agent, who stated that I could request a refund on the refund page of their website but it has been conveniently removed, so no such page exists and there is apparently no other way to request a refund.

Incompetent at best
The company cancelled the 2022 Windermere Swim event stating an incompetent interpretation of the weather forecast as the reason. But the organisation and staffing at the event were of very poor quality. They also failed to provide the bad weather contingency that was in their T&Cs. They refused to refund entry fees despite there being no good reason for the event not to take place. Like many, I complained and asked to be refunded and was refused. But the good news is that my credit card company agreed that withholding a refund was unlawful. I made a "Section 75 Claim" and have now been reimbursed in full.

Taken my money but no event or help.
I had a 10k booked 2 years ago with this company because of covid they said they would rearrange event. They only gave me 2/3 weeks notice of a new date, email sent on 17th December for event on 7th Jan! (Closed over Christmas/bank holidays). When I said I couldn’t make that date, they refused to change the date or refund my money. They also would not escalate my complaint to management. Basically they’ve robbed me of £25, I’m sure with the short notice I’m not the only one in this position. They state they sent an email in November but I have no record of this and that it was my responsibility to check each of their fb posts? Not sure what I was supposed to be looking for, when I have no idea when new event would be? Just an excuse to keep my money.

Useless organisation and a dangerous event
I would never do another Epicevents event again; their organisation and management was appalling at the Ullswater 20 Trail and, even worse, they tried to blame their short fallings at the start and parking on the athletes themselves. Furthermore if it hadn't been for runners managing road crossings and helping those with over-heating problems there might well have been a tragedy. Finally if you leave a negative comment on their facebook site they take it down rather than replying.

Bullying Behaviour
Refused a refund and as i stated i was taking legal action i was advised i could no longer attend any of their events. Bullying behavior and lying that any of my communication was abusive. I know there are many people in the same position.

Refusing refund cancelled event - They'd rather hold on to consumer's money
Government legislation says cash refunds must be offered as an option under Consumer Rights. Which also says adding T&Cs which deny this are unfair, despite Covid-19 as a cause. All of this has been pointed out to Epic Events who still refuse to refund for cancelled events. It's sad when a company thinks it's fair to hold on to somebody elses money. Anybody can see holding on to other people's money is neither legal nor fair
