The power of Trustpilot

On 12 December I ordered a ham from British Fine Foods/Grown at Home as a Christmas gift to be delivered on 19 December. On 15 December I was told my ham would be despatched on 18th for delivery on 19th. On 19th BFF told me it had been despatched. Also on 19th I was told by the courier company, the Alternative Parcels Company or APC Overnight (owned by William Stobart, Eddie’s son), that it would arrive that day. It didn’t. On 20 December, APC told me my ham would be delivered that day between 07:00 and 12:00. It wasn’t.On 21 December I complained to BFF. They told me the item would be delivered that day. It wasn’t.On 22 December, APC told me it would come on 23rd. On 23 December I told BFF they were heading for a low Trustpilot rating. They said they would recall the consignment from APC and send a new ham by Royal Mail for next-day delivery. It arrived as arranged.I have no idea if the ham itself was any good; it was a gift.I have given BFF two stars because, although they had to be threatened with bad publicity before taking action, they did try to fix the problem. I gave the APC one star in a separate review for being a delivery company that didn’t deliver.The lessons I learned from this bad experience were: (1) if you order things from British Fine Foods, specify that they do not use he Alternative Parcels Company for the delivery; and (2) when you come across incompetence, raise the possibility of a bad Trustpilot rating. It seems to do the trick.

Overall the service has been really poor and it has left me worried about any future deliveries. I would advise people to be wary before ordering.

I’m really disappointed with my first experience using British Fine Foods. I bought the three month Pie Club subscription as a birthday present for a friend, not cheap, and picked the delivery date they offered. The order kept getting delayed despite loads of emails from them and the courier. I even rang up and was told it would be fine to eat when it finally arrived because of the way it was packaged.It turned up three and a half days later (six days later then selected delivery day), and my friend had to stay in for several of those days waiting for it because each update said it would arrive that day. To make matters worse, the pie arrived on its sell by date. When I rang to explain what happened the customer service agent said the pies had been in transit too long and should not be eaten. My friend had already eaten one by then in an effort to enjoy their birthday gift before it went off, so fingers crossed they do not end up unwell.They have organised a new delivery, but the whole experience has still been far from ideal. Overall the service has been really poor and it has left me worried about any future deliveries. I would advise people to be wary before ordering.

Absolutely fabulous

Absolutely fabulous. Staff are so brilliant and helpful. Fantastic pies and cheeses plus other goods . Ive swapped from f&m to here now as they are more reliable and fairly priced

Excellent service

The staff communicated clearly and quickly regarding an issue with my order. After the agreed susbstitutions, the order was then delivered on time and in excellent condition. Overall an excellent experience.

Great for corporate or personal gifts

I have used this company both from a corporate and personal point of view and I have always been impressed with their ability to go above & beyond for me & for my client’s needs / dietary requirements. Your Christmas Hampers I ordered for my clients and for my family are always received with great smiles and joy. I cannot fault this company and I’m always impressed at how you manage to despatch my multiple orders and get them delivered on time. *****high recommendation

5* plus!!

Ordered a Wimbledon @ Home afternoon tea. Options were gluten free, vegetarian and regular with each product for 2. I asked for a box to include 1 gluten free serving and 1 regular serving, which they were more than happy to accommodate. Excellent quality and delivery service

Xmas order not delivered on the…

Xmas order not delivered on the requested day in spite of ordering in November. I had to phone and ask and was told it was in the warehouse, waiting for the pies! No email telling me of the delay. One item was incorrect on delivery and in spite of two emails have had no response. I certainly will not use this company again.

Lovely food, friendly service

ordered some delicious smoked duck breast, arrived well packaged and on time. The duck was excellent and I will definitely buy from them again.Also great communication from the company as I needed to change the delivery address and this was done very efficiently.

Lockdown Birthday Picnic

Fantastic service and amazing products!Great communication to make sure a lovely picnic arrvied for my girlfriends birthday. Food was top quality. Just placed the 2nd order already
