First class service from Ben and Matt

2nd city plumbing have been absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Ben and Matt were incredibly professional, polite and a pleasure to have in my home. They completed the job efficiently and to a very high standard making the whole process smooth and stress free.Im extremely pleased with the work carried out and wouldnt hesitate to recommend 2nd city, especially Ben and Matt for anybody looking for a reliable top quality service!

The team at 2nd City are amazing! I had a new boiler fitted. Turned up on time, they were very polite and professional. Explained everything to me, and also cleared up before leaving. I wouldn't use anyone else now.

I would like to share the disgusting…

I would like to share the disgusting experience i had with 2nd city Gas, plumbing and heating service.I am a woman who works from home alone. 2 workmen were in my house for 3 minutes and charged me £90!!I was advised it was £90 for the first HOUR on the phobe prior to the call out.I explained that the pump or cartridge in the tap was "playing up " . They turned the tap on and agreed.They did not remove the bath panel to check underneath the taps.They then advised it needed new taps at the cost of £380 plus VAT =total of £465 .They then asked for £90 for just turning on the taps !!! And they wanted it to be paid in CASH or they would "get in to trouble "I was told they would sit of the drive until it was paid in full . Which made made me feel uncomfortable and angry.I told them i would have to pay over the phone and asked for an invoice. They didn't have an invoice book and wrote with a pencil on a "quotation pad" he crossed out the word quotation and wrote invoice on the top of the paper. The office asked for an invoice number which they didn't have so he just made a number up and wrote it on the paper too.how does that work with the tax office ??? If they had checked and tried to get it to work then i would have had no issues paying but 3 minutes in the house is just ripping people off .I rang "quickfind" and they advised they didnt agree with them asking for cash and sitting on the drive until paid and that the "boss mark " would telephone meBut... he never did !I am absolutely appalled with my expericence with this company and how i was treated as a paying customerWould not reccommend to anyone .

Ben and Chris did an amazing job…

Ben and Chris did an amazing job installing my new boiler. They were polite, professional and very pleasant. The new boiler works very well, I am very pleased. Plus, when they left, you would not have known they'd been there.

I called the Harborne office for some…

I called the Harborne office for some help with a bathroom issue and I was greeted with patronising comments . If I was an experienced plumber why would I call you for help. The lady answered the phone and passed it to an “ engineer “ who clearly don’t have any customer service skills.Be prepared for this when you call them for some help, it came across they just after the call out charge with vat.

Small leak to saving the kitchen

Chris and Ryan did an amazing job from what started off as sorting out a small leak to re doing the pipe work under the kitchen floor due to the amount of holes in the pipes would definitely recommend the company

Good service as before from 2nd City!

Chris + Ryan are a likeable and capable team who dealt very positively with a challenging job: removing a Rayburn range + large water cylinder + replacing them with a new combi boiler. The job has been finished to a high standard inside + out, and I was touched and grateful for their concern + understanding when I had a bad fall part way through the work!

Gas Leak

I smelled gas in a bedroom when I returned from holiday yesterday. Rang Second City this morning and they sent an engineer ( great guy) within 3 hours. He confirmed a gas leak and isolated the suspect supply. Gas smell has gone and am much relieved. Just need to decide whether to find where the leak is and have it repaired of simply swap out the gas hob for an electric one!

Not the ones for bathroom refurbs.

I have read numerous ‘good’ reviews for 2nd City; but after spending over £10k on a new bathroom suite I feel the need to provide a review of my experience. It is definitely not ‘good’.I was given a quote by James on 30th April, with work starting on 7th May and ‘completing’ on 17th May. Payment was made in full on that day, as requested. A damaged shower head and low water pressure meant it was not user friendly at all. I was offered a plastic shower head as a replacement by Mark. The mirror I had ordered specifically from the catalogue was not the one installed after I was informed it was out of stock, yet I was not informed as to whether there would be any reduction in cost. The replacement toilet and size of the cistern and surround meant that anyone taller than 5ft 5 could not use it and had to go elsewhere! Not helpful when having family members visit. I complained to Mark and was informed someone would return on the 4th or 5th of June. No one arrived on either day and there was no communication, so I contacted Mark again. I was then informed someone would arrive on the 12th or 13th of June. By 11am on the 13th I had no contact from anyone at 2nd City so I went to the office myself to see if I could obtain any information, instead being misinformed by phone! After trying to explain my frustration calmly to James, and struggling to get a word in edgeways with his booming voice and being fobbed me off with excuses. I reached a point where I had to raise my own voice and ask him to PLEASE LET ME SPEAK! On the 18th June two contractors arrived to fit a replacement toilet cistern and surround as well as mitre the corners as none of them had been done. Mark had to then explain to the contractors how to mitre chrome corners and still, not all of these have been completed. For the money paid, the service and quality of work that has been done is below the standard I would expect. Instead of promoting the amount of services they offer, it may be worthwhile focusing on the quality of the work provided. I believe, from reading other reviews that this company may be good to use in an emergency; but for a job such as a bathroom refurb, I would not recommend 2nd City.

Bath and sink taps replaced

2nd City Plumbing recently replaced my bath and sink taps which were leaking and no longer fit for purpose. Both James and Ben were excellent, not just in how they carried out the work efficiently and cleanly, but they kept to appointments and communicated with me throughout. I’m very satisfied with the professionalism and expertise shown by 2nd City Plumbing and wouldn’t hesitate to use their services again.

Do not use if vunerable

In October 2021 the company cleaned a blocked kitchen drain for us. We were pleased with the job done so when the drain became blocked again I rang 2nd city to out again. My husband and I were both working so my son told your engineer that it was the kitchen drain which was blocked and showed them where the outside tap and drain were directly outside the kitchen as the engineer would need to flush from both sides of the blockage. When I came home I was horrified to find that we had been charged three times the price the drain had not been cleared at all, there was also a vile sewage smell throughout the upstairs of the house. The following day I rang to complain and was told an engineer could come out the following Wednesday. I assumed to actually unblock the drain. I then received a phone call from one of your foremen on Tuesday 30th - he was so aggressive I could barely get a word in edgeways but he did agree to come out although he was sure the job had been done correctly. He arrived 30 minutes later than the window I was given and was so aggressive my daughter felt the need to come downstairs for support. He continued to tell me that the job had been done correctly and sometimes drain clearance could result in household smells. Even when I showed him the blocked drain he continued to make excuses and failed to apologise. He would not clear the drain so I had to accept an engineer coming out the following Saturday. I was given a window of 8 - 10 am. Just before 10am I received a phone call from the engineer advising that he was 30 minutes away. When he arrived I showed him the blocked drain. It transpired that the apprentice he had come with had attached the hose and he had not realised this drain existed! It took about 30 minutes to unblock the drain - the same length of time it had taken back in 2021.I therefore wasted 2 mornings hanging around for engineers to arrive, paid for 90 minutes of metered water to clear drains which were already clear all because the engineer didn't listen to my son and check his apprentices work. I have emailed the company and rung twice. The silence is deafening.

Full central heating and new boiler system

Adam, Callum and Ben were great at installing a new full central heating system, Gas works and new boiler. Completed a day ahead of schedule due to their proficiency. Couldn’t ask for a better team and company. Would definitely recommend!

Absolutely brilliant service!

Absolutely brilliant! Adam and Mitchell replaced our old boiler with a new combi boiler and removed existing water tanks. They were superb. Polite, courteous, professional and extremely hard working. We could be happier with the service. Thank you!

Two radiators were driving me crazy…

Two radiators were driving me crazy until Gary and Ben from 2nd City arrived they spent the whole day flushing my system now all 11 are working and my house is warm and cozy.
