Very disappointed
Very disappointed. I purchased a border fork from B&Q but after a couple of months one of the tines bent completely out of shape. I realise I should have kept the receipt then B&Q might have honoured the guarantee so contacted Wilkinson themselves and was summarily dismissed and bounced back to B&Q.Not what I would call good customer service.

Exceeded my expectations
I volunteer at the Shropshire Wildlife Trust. We have a branch and shrub cutter that we bought some time ago. I contacted Wilkinson Sword Tools because one of the operating wires was fraying and I was having difficulty finding a spare part. I ended up at their service organisation (barrus.co.uk). They sorted my problem quickly and exceeded my expectations, so full marks.

10 Year Guarantee is a lie
Purchased a soil rake from Trago Mills in Devon. Decided to go with WS due to the 10 year guarantee. The head of the rake bent backwards when raking some earth over a planting bed within the first month of use and after a further week or two the rake head entirely snapped off. Very poor welding of joint between rake head and shaft. Wilkinson Sword customer service refused to honour the guarantee, telling me it was the retailers job to sort it out. Trago Mills refused a return/refund due to it being outside the 30 days return policy. 10 year guarantee worth absolutely nothing if neither the retailer nor manufacturer are prepared to honour it. And then WS customer service had the cheek to offer me 25% discount from their website as a “good will gesture”…! I will be sticking with Spear & Jackson from now on.

Garden digging fork
2 prongs snapped off the second time I used it within a week of purchase. Got my money back but what is the point of selling goods not fit for purpose. I’m an old man now and I’ve been using and abusing garden forks all my life including digging out roots and breaking out concrete. I’ve bent prongs and broken handles but never had them snap until recently. I’d happily pay more for a quality product but it seems to be a thing of the past.

Long Handled Garden Shears
Bought a pair of long handled Garden Shears from my local Garden Centre. Thought good value for money until I got home and used them! Did say on the babel for grass but didn't state 1 blade at a time. The cutting blades are nice and thick BUT the handles have no rigidity to them and flex something terribly. Waste of money, thought this was a good make but obviously not now!!!!!!!

Poor quality Ultralight Long Reach…
Poor quality Ultralight Long Reach PrunerGot a 1111382W Wilkinson LR Pruner 5 months ago. After light use the spring in the handle has snapped. Informed WS/Barrus, requesting replacement spring I could fit. Told me to seek a refund or replacement from retailer - so they can bear the cost and be penalised for WS poor quality & low reliability, leaving WS profits unscathed. Why not just send a couple of replacement springs, worth a few pence, so the rest of the pruner does not go in the bin? Forget Wilkinson as a reliable brand, they now use cheapo components.Date of experience: 18 July 2024UPDATE 13 Feb 2025:Obtained a replacement pruner from the retailer, now the spring on that one has broken in exactly the same way. Surprised? Not at all. So this will be another whole pruner going in the bin.

APALLING SERIVE AND QUALITY
I bought a Garden fork in about 2018. It looked great but a prong snapped soon after getting it. They replaced it under their guarantee. I've barely used it since and the handle snapped recently. When I contacted them again to replace under the well advertised 10 year guarantee they are now saying as I only have a delivery note from 2019 not the original receipt that they will not honour the guarantee. I will never purchase Wilkinson Sword tool again. APPALLING SERVICE. AVOID

Wilkinson Sword Loppers .....
Wilkinson Sword Loppers ...... Carbon steel blade? No way!! I can bend it with my fingers. After a hour usage of light work (holly bush, fir tree) the blade simply bent so far out of shape that it has become useless. The whole tool feels super-flimsy. Upon inspection it looks like the steel blade has never been hardened! (more like tin-foil) .. TOTALLY useless. Sadly, like an idiot, I didn't keep the receipt as my trust in Wilkinson Sword was high. Nope, not anymore. Avoid this RUBBISH. They have lost all respect. Great Result Wilkinson Sword!! Perfect example of saving a few pennies, losing life long reputation and customers! I am off to the local Garden Centre to put a warning notice on the shelves!

Wilkinson Sword is no longer a quality brand
I purchased a Wilkinson Sword Garden Fork about 2 months ago and had only used it a handful of times and the handle snapped lifting a small shrub (bronze fennel) out of the ground. On closer inspection of the handle it would seem that it has a wooden composite core surrounded by a thin veneer, hardly solid oak! I tried to get in touch with Wilkinsons which I could only do by email. I sent a complaint email and have not even received an acknowledgement. I have since gone on to their website again and found that they state that they are taking up to 10 days to respond - must be so many complaints ??!!I am writing this as I have no doubt I have little or no chance from hearing from them. So this review is a warning for all those people who think that buying a well known brand and paying over £35 for a quality gardening fork is a guarantee of a long life dependable product....it is not.

I bought 2 bottles of dry spray sun tan…
I bought 2 bottles of dry spray sun tan lotion that were anything but dry. The lotion didn't spray, it came out in greasy lumpy splodges, it took nearly 10 minutes to dry and it stained my clothes.I complained and, after 4 emails, someone from Customer Services finally came back and offered me a replacement. I said no thank you, I'd like a refund for the bottle that I'd opened and something towards the stained and ruined tankini top. It's gone completely silent since then. So much for customer service

Garden shears rusted so unable to use
I bought wilkinson garden shears May 2023, they have hardly been used, I went to use them in March this year and I was very surprised to see the blades rusted and unable to use, I can't believe tools used outside in a garden go rusty !!! I am very disappointed but I can safely say I will not recommend Wilkinson Sword products to anyone.

No communication
I placed an order with this company on Sunday. I also sent a message to them just after placing the order. As it was bank Holiday I wasn't expecting a reply. There is no update on my order but the money as been taken from my account. Theres no phone number to contact them that I can find on their website, but one was given on screen after placing my order which I thankfully took a screenshot of as its not in my confirmation email. Today is Wednesday and no reply to my message, can't email them as no email address on their website. So I have phoned them 3 times today in the space of 10 minutes and it rings for awhile then the call ends. With no other way of direct contact and no update in my account I don't even know when to expect my order other then 5/7 days. I maybe over reacting but in todays world of scams there really should be a more direct way of contacting them and they should answer the phone! I've Googled their listed address and it looks as if they are just a distributor.

Wilkinson Sword loppers not fit for purpose
I needed to replace a pair of loppers which I’ve been using for 25 years. Recognising Wilkinson Sword as a reputable firm producing good quality product I immediately went for their brand. To say I was disappointed is an understatement as on the first time of use, the cutting blade simply folded in on itself. I emailed WS but they were not interested and simply told me to take them back to BlueDiamond garden centre. Stupidly I lost the receipt so couldn’t return them, so a bought a different pair of loppers and this time went with Felco, and they are brilliant. So please learn from my experience and don’t buy the extendable loppers they are nothing better then a children’s toy!!!

First time using my deep spade which…
First time using my deep spade which was given as a present. Trying to take a clematis up (not even deep) and it snapped on third attempt. Shocked at how bad this was and have never broken anything first use in my life!!

Another poor review.
Another poor review.Long handled trowel, the head came away while weeding.Clearly very poor welding. It was given as Birthday gift so no receipt. So 10 year no quibble guarantee is 100% useless.Very poor service - I sent pictures.Offered a 25% discount to buy another. No thanks.I was clearly misguided in using Wilkinson Sword garden products as thought they meant quality.Really surprised and really disappointed.

Wilkinson Sword long handled fork
Wilkinson Sword long handled fork. On second use, in moist soil, two of the three prongs snapped off whilst hand weeding the border. Dreadful quality.

no receipt no guarantee!
no receipt, no guarantee. Bought Wilkinson Sword 1111295WG Folding Pruner and Saw Set in 2019 from blue diamond garden centre. Over many years, the security clip kept popping off due to the loose screw. I tried tightening it many times but it only last a couple of days. Thought it comes with 10 year guarantee, only find out no receipt, no guarantee. What a shame. Who will keep the receipt for something cost a tenner.

poor quality…
Fell apart after only a week after a bolt dropped out of the opening/closing mechanism.

First class and rapid under guarantee service
I am delighted with my Wilkinson Sword gardening tools. Nevertheless, I had to make a claim under guarantee. I received a very quick response to my online enquiry and a no-quibble replacement two days later.Couldn't have been better.

I purchased a long reach branch lopper
I purchased a long reach branch lopper, after a while I had a problem and contacted them via email, I had a very quick reply and the problem was resolved in my favour very quickly.I think they are an example to all manufacturer support departments, this is how it done, so used to being ignored or excuses why they shouldn't repair their faulty product.Well done Wilkinson Sword, you a an example how it should be done, thank you.
