Valspar Cedar NaturalTone Transparent Stain & Sealer Poor Quality
Bought the Valspar Cedar NaturalTone Transparent Exterior Stain and Sealer for my deck. It said it was rain ready in 6 hours. I never cut it that close. It was a week before it rained. It looked good when I first applied it, but every time it rained some of the stain washed off. I tried applying another coat, but the sealer part would not allow the second coat to adhere to the wood. It was as if the stain washed off, but the sealer part stayed. My deck was only 5 years old and was in good shape. I followed all the recommended prep steps. I even used their All-In-One Wood Prep. I tried to leave a review on Valspar's website, but it wasn't allowing that option. I contacted the company and they said they could see reviews on their end, so it must be something wrong with my computer. I tried two different computers and two different phones. I think they have had so many bad reviews that they turned off that feature. Most of my deck is covered overhead and not exposed to the weather, but everywhere the rain could reach left the deck splotchy where some of the stain washed off. I had never used Valspar before and will never use it again.
