I spent £30k on Matrix equipment for a high end home gym and the connectivity simply doesn’t work. Matrix have no interest in after sales support and simply refuse to talk directly to customers. The installation process is basic and is about leaving as fast as possible with no information shared. Would accept a couple of niggles with the equipment if any of the interface worked but despite numerous follow ups, Matrix have no interest in helping customers after delivery. Like buying a car with faulty electronics. May be acceptable for a corporate gym but I would advise against retail / home gym use.

Worst equipment in terms of design that are never fixed nor maintained

I’m a member of a Pure gym in London! They have Matrix equipment! Regardless of how out dated and difficult to use they are, and how they don’t adapt to different bodies, my main concern is the maintenance! Gym says they come regularly for maintenance but all the equipment have missing bolts, missing knots, loose bolts, fallen off parts, etc! A major incident and someone breaking an arms or losing a leg is eminent!

Awfully designed equipment

Convinced the engineers designing the equipment are secretly just a bunch of monkeys in lab coats. Terrible mechanics

Awful Machines. Literally hurt

My Planet Fitness just replaced their Life Fitness strength training equipment- which was awesome, with Matrix. They literally hurt when using. When I work out legs, my knees hurt. When I work out my chest, my elbows hurt. I feel no effectiveness in the target muscle while using like with Life Fitness machines. I’m feel it a waste of a workout and I’m concerned enough that these machines will do more harm than good that I’ll be canceling my membership there. I’ve read elsewhere that they’re cheaper ineffective machines so I’m very disappointed in Planet for making this change.

Injury waiting to happen

Like Technogym… just worse in every possible way.The lack of adjustable elements makes every exercise range from slightly uncomfortable to dangerous. A huge shame Puregym is full of it.

Matrix fitness is the worst thing to…

Matrix fitness is the worst thing to ever happen to UK gyms. The annoying thing is most of their machines could be so much better with some very small fixes that wouldnt increase the manufacturing cost. The machines are poorly designed usually for a few reasons:- Restrict the range of motion for no reason (leg press pins stop the sled too early, the chest press you cant get a deep stretch, etc)- Bad mechanics and weird angles- Some of the machines eg. chest press are super unstable and clunky (for no reason)- Overly thick handles which make grip unpleasant- Strange angles, eg. on the hack squat the foot plate is too steep, it should be at less of an angle to the floor, at present this stresses the knees unnecessarily for people with long limbs- Bad force curves. Eg. their plate loaded incline press, flat press etc have the exercise be super easy at the bottom and very hard at the top, which is suboptimal. All of these changes could be so easily addressed without making it any more expensive for matrix to produce the machines, if only they were able to copy the designes better of the leading players like Atlantis, Nautilus, Panatta and prime

Avoid matrix machines

My gym bought new back equipment all from Matrix, everything is clunky, bad ergonomics, terrible foot placements, and the lat pulldown/cable row have no range of motion. Terrible, terrible, terrible. The cables now have weird weight too, a full stack being 34kg?? Rubbish

3 Matrix T75s all failed within 2 years

I purchased 3 Matrix T75 treadmills for my company gym, as I read good reviews online. After 2 years all 3 have failed for different reasons. All with between 4-8k km on them. Our NordicTrack treadmill is still going after 5 years. Skip this company and look for something of higher quality. Life Fitness and Nordic Track are both better in my experience.

Horrible equipment

Horrible equipment. Can’t believe PureGym destroyed my fitness center after training there for nearly 15 years, by replacing all the best Technogym machines with these low quality, badly designed weight machines. The ergonomics are off, the confusion of the foot placement, which makes no sense of where to place your feet (foot handles.. what?) even the leg locks on the back workout machines seem to point diagonally upward so you feel like you are slipping out of hold. They can’t even regulate the weight indications on the machines, so it feels like you are actually push/pulling the weight that you have chosen. That is just a portion of the state of these machines. Absolute thrash. You have to see it to believe it.

Jeg er 100% enig med rækken af kritiske…

I agree 100% with the series of critical comments on Trustpilot. Matrix is the worst thing I've ever experienced in training. It is incomprehensible that a large chain like PureGym has invested in miserable and extremely poorly designed machines, where you cannot adjust to the body, are often static and directly painful to train in. I am leaving PureGym for this reason and hope that others do the same, so that the excellent training place I have trained in for many years will open my eyes and push to the British headquarters, who have made the hopeless decision to change TechnoGym with Matrix. I simply don't have anything good to say about Matrix

Worst

Worst. Never buy Matrix equipment. Item came defective and matrix warranty needs 2-3 months to replace the part and fix. I expected to get a brand new equipment and received a defective piece. DON'T BUY THIS SHIT

Most dangereous fitness machines I have EVER used…

Worse fitness machines I have EVER used in my life! I previously trained in different countries and even in gyms with machines that were 20+ years old. I always enjoyed training. Now I'm since 4 weeks in a gym with Matrix fitness machines in Germany. The ergonomy is awful, in the sense that they have none. No matter how much I try to adjust them to me, it just doesn't work with ... human body's anatomy. They definetly do not always challenge the muscles that they are supposed to, and that are indicated on the pictures and descriptions. For the first time in my life I got a serious injury (shoulder), without even noticing. I have used many kinds of shoulder presses, back & arms training machines, weights, body weight etc. for over a decade when training. Never had any problem before. If I had a good legal insurance, I would sue this company right away!I totally agree with the other commenters here who state that people who have designed these machines have NEVER trained in their life in a gym! What's worse: THEY HATE WOMEN! It is the first time in my life to have experienced such an aggressive gender discrimination in objects that are supposed to be for general use. These machines are NOT made for women. In fact, I argue that they they are dangereous for women! Men, imagine having to press weight against your balls when trying to train your abs or legs! This is how it kind of feels for women. Some of them crush your breasts when trying to use them, no matter how many positions you have tried to adjust it to. This hasn't happen to me with any other machines, elsewhere in the world.Oh, and when trying to make adjustments, many times the metal pins gets stuck (the whole gym opened 7 months ago and had brand new machines!!). It happened more than once that it pinched my finger so bad that blood came out, or that the pin didn't stick well and a whole heavy part fell on my back, or something alike.I have never despised a whole series of objects in my whole life like I hate Matrix fitness machines. And I won't come out of my gym membership for another 11 months!! This company is harmful to humans and (small) businesses alike, and I am disappointed to live in a world that lets such charlatans exist unpunished.

GYMs should know better!

My gym now switched to Matrix machines, and they suck! Range of motion is very limited for taller people, the movements on some are static, so they don't glide well, and the ergonomics are badly designed. Yeah, they look fancy, but they are crap. Even the adjustment knobs are static-y and hard to adjust. WHY, why, why do gyms opt for this brand? Because it's cheaper? Well, they end up wasting money if nobody uses them. Invest in better brands (Cybex, Hammerstrength, LifeFitness ) that are well-designed and do what they're supposed to so that people will benefit from them!!!

BAD BAD BAD

BAD ! I hate matrix. Crap machines. Poor muscle contractions, poor ergonomics, really bad strength curves. Gyms only use them cos they're cheap! Matrix also lacks options & variations of machines.

Not intuitive to use. If you dare to put your left hand on the handle bar, it will end your program! What a stupid placement for the Off button!

Spent tens of thousands to kit out my boutique fitness center. A few years ago Once warranty ran out took out maintenance cover over £3500 PA. My wait times on parts and engineers call out is terrible. Previously 40 days for a cable for a matrix rower!Equipment is fine. But the maintenance and waiting time on parts is ridiculous. Never will I buy again. For the cost of the maintenance I hoped for good service. Don’t believe the sales man. Im currently waiting from August,(reported my fault) till December for parts. No movable safety stops on my hack squat. Unsafe to use. They don’t care. Shameful I’m pursuing this currently Trying to get hold of a manager. Will update. But please keep this in mind when ordering from Matrix.

We are beyond frustrated and…

We are beyond frustrated and disappointed with our purchase. We ordered a Matrix Ascent Elliptical for over $5500 on August 9, 2023 at their Johnson and Wellness Sunrise location with Keith, and it was delivered to us on August 17th with all kinds of issues.First, the incline feature on this BRAND NEW machine was not working and then it was making all kinds of noise when you used it, so I told Keith to send us another elliptical machine because this one was definitely defective. But I was assured that this would be resolved quickly, and a Matrix warranty claim was filed instead. Then I had to wait another week and a half for a new motor to arrive because they thought that was the main issue. When the motor arrived, I had to wait for their third-party tech service to arrive and make the repair. Guess what? They arrived on August 29, 2023 and after spending 5 hours trying to fix the machine, they were unable to resolve the problem and discovered further issues for us, such as the resistance motor not working, a horrible skip when attempting to operate the machine, and a damaged control board and data cable. HOW CAN YOU HAVE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH A BRAND NEW MACHINE? I was aware that we had received a DEFECTIVE machine from the start, but Johnson Fitness simply WASTED my professional time attempting to do these repairs instead of simply sending me a NEW machine to expedite matters and make the customer happy. This is terrible customer service, and I am now unable to use the machine AT ALL. What a waste of my time and money!Furthermore, as a lawyer, I had to take time away from my hectic schedule to accommodate their repairs, which were obviously unsuccessful. Their tech was here from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and still couldn't fix the problem even after taking the WHOLE machine apart. We were told that we now have to wait for THREE new parts - a resistance motor, a data cable, a control board, and God knows what else?? I am extremely appalled by this and do not recommend purchasing from this company unless you like wasting thousands of dollars for awful customer service and defective equipment in return. Now, the resistance isn't working, the incline isn't working, and there's this noise coming from the machine, so the machine is absolutely USELESS. I will be taking legal action against this company unless a new machine is sent to me or a full refund is issued for this abominable customer service. Sending me a replacement machine is the very least this company can do to resolve this issue. Otherwise, issue me a full refund, and I'd rather order a new machine from another company that actually cares about their product quality and values their customers! Do not buy any Matrix machines.
