If I could give negative stars I would

If I could give negative stars I would! Absolute worst! We’ve had our ironwood XL a little more than a year and it suddenly stopped working. CS is a nightmare - I have no issues with call centers when they speak clearly so that I can understand what I need to do but that’s not the case here! They constantly put you on hold and read from the manual - no real knowledge of product! I can do better watching a You Tube video! But when you’re not mechanically inclined it’s a bit daunting having to pull apart your grills electricalsystem! It’s an expensive lesson to learn but Traeger sucks!

Horrible experience

Horrible. After a couple of years, smoke flows into the hopper, temperature won’t stay. After years with a Weber gas grill I’ll be going back. Changed the burn port, original capped out. Quality not even a a consideration.

Traeger does not stand by their product…

Traeger does not stand by their product and will not take any meaningful steps to help fix a problem. The company used to be incredible, and their products were the best. But that has clearly changed.I purchased a brand new Traeger Woodbridge Pro in September 2025. Within 3 weeks, the product stopped working, I contacted customer support and eventually it was determined that the control panel for my brand new grill had to be replaced, the part was sent to me once received, Installed it. For about 3 weeks, this solved the problem. Then a different part of my Traeger stopped working properly and after 2-3 months of trying to fix it, on January 25, 2026, I spend many hours on the phone with customer service, and eventually the representative diagnosed the problem and confirmed that the replacement part would be sent that day, to be received by me on January 28, 2026. On January 31, after not receiving the part, I called Traeger and was advised that someone from Traeger had canceled the shipment of my part, but then re-ordered it on January 30, 2026. I was provided a tracking number. The tracking number shows that Traeger has still not provided the part to the courier, I called the courier who confirmed the part will not be received by me within a week. I then spoke with a supervisor at Traeger, and notified the supervisor that I had purchased over $5000 worth of meat and was hosting a Super Bowl event on February 8, and required the part and my Traeger to be working by February 4 or 5 at the latest, as smoking that much brisket would take a few days. Despite originally telling me the part would arrive by January 28, the supervisor simply continued to repeat that if the part doesn't arrive within 7 days, they would take further action. 7 days being far too late in the circumstances. Traeger is refusing to send the part by expedited shipping, they are refusing to honor the fact my grill has not worked properly since October, and were completely indifferent by the fact I will be out thousands of dollars due to them not shipping me a part in a reasonable time, and for selling me what is plainly a defective product.

Traeger Silverton XL Pellet Grill

Traeger Silverton XL Pellet GrillDON’T BUY ONE!We’d been thinking about purchasing a Traeger grill for a while, when we saw them selling them at Costco. We spent quite a while talking to the sales person with some questions that we were concerned about. We asked: “Is the grill hard to assemble?”He said: “No”! … That was a lie.It took us a whole day, and an engineering degree to get the thing assembled & set up.We asked: “Will the cold temps in Wisconsin affect the cooking?”He said: “Absolutely not!” … That, too, was a lie!We asked: “Will the single digit temps here in Wisconsin cause the cooking temps to fluctuate?”He said: “No, the weather will not affect the grill’s temp at all!” … More lies!On Friday, we were making venison nibble sticks, which requires slow, low cooking. We set the grill at 165. It heated up fine. We put the nibble sticks in, as well as the meat probe. The grill held steady for about an hour, then it shot up to over 212 degrees, and kept climbing, so we opened the lid to get it to cool down. When we closed the lid, it would hold for a while at 165-180, then climb over 200 again, so we’d open the lid again! We finally called Customer Service & spoke with Kevin (Supv), who could actually see what the grill was doing for every cook we’ve done since we got it. He did say we opened the lid too often, and changed the temp as well, but we told him it was due to the extreme fluctuations! He did say there can be a 20-25 degree fluctuation during a cook, but 165 to 212?!? He surmised the heat probe may need to be replaced & is sending one to us. We finally got the sticks to a 160 internal temp, so removed them.Afterwards, we cleaned the grill extremely well, and cleaned the probe, the fire pot, and all the parts they told us to.On Sunday, we stuffed another batch of venison nibble sticks and set the grill to 165. The unit never got above 120 degrees before it started shutting down ‘due to low temp’. It said to restart it after shutting down, so we did. THREE TIMES!! By the fourth time it wouldn’t get above 120, and started shutting down, we took the nibble sticks out & put them in our oven to slow cook them. After this fiasco, I went online and Googled Traeger Silverton XL problems. It said there are numerous complaints about the fluctuations of heat, and there have been numerous returns to Costco.Wednesday, I’m calling Costco to let them know we’re returning this expensive nightmare for a full refund! If you decide to spend the exorbitant price for a Traeger, just plan to use it ONLY when the weather is nice.I would not recommend this grill to anyone!!

The Traeger Flatrock is really a piece…

The Traeger Flatrock is really a piece of junk. Traeger does not really honor its warranty. If you buy one of these, you have to become a grill mechanic, because pieces fall off, the burner indicators rust, and the grill won’t heat half the time. If you buy one of these, you’re really wasting your money. Find another brand!

Cannot tell if they are incompetent or just don't care.

I have had my Traeger Tailgater pellet smoker for a few years. It worked well for a few months then I had a problem with it running too cold. At that time customer support was fabulous. They took the time to have me take pictures and such and diagnosed a faulty temp sensor and sent me a new one under warranty. It never really worked, it went the other way, the smoker is way hotter than what the display says and what it thinks it is regulating to. I just put up with it for a while and cooked everything a bit too fast on the lowest setting it has (165 F). Now instead if smoking ribs for 6 hours at 170 then turning up to finish them, I just leave it set at 165 and they reach an internal temperature of 201 in 3 hours, and I rely on soaking them in butter to salvage them (really helps!). Now because the display says it is between 165 and 190 they say it cannot possibly be a problem with the smoker. There is no way that multiple 3rd party thermometers could be correct if they disagree with their temperature sensor, and if the display says it's within 25 degrees then it's working perfectly. And the fact that meat is over-done in less than half the time it should take could not possibly be a problem with their temperature sensor. Now this is after they already sent me a replacement temperature sensor because they declared the original one defective. I explained all this to the technical support person very politely, without the sarcasm I used here, understanding that they cannot trust 3rd party thermometers, but anyone with a small amount of experience smoking meat understands 3 hours vs 8 hours and that meat should not reach an internal temperature >200 degrees at a setting of 165 degrees. They asked me to please hold, and 7 minutes later they just hung up.

Just a garbage product and garbage…

Just a garbage product and garbage warranty. I've had this smoker for 3 months and constant problems with the fan. After three service calls and them not allowing me to return it or issue a refund I cannot recommend you stay away from this POS product and company enough. I dont care what product you pick, it simply cannot be worse than a Traeger

Ironwood XL will not turn on right out of the box

My wife just bought me an Ironwood XL. Received it the day before Thanksgiving. Set it up this weekend and it would not turn on — no power to the unit after I plugged it in. Spent over 2 hours on the support line and taking the side cover off to allow a video inspection of the electronics. Nothing solved. Wanted to charge me $500 to return the grill. I have had 2 other Traeger grills that were not great. I was hoping they had improved the design. Spent over $2,100 on this one and will not be using or buying another Traeger. Buyer beware. Instead of sending a grill that will start out of the box Traeger wants to ship you parts and pieces in hopes it will make the grill work for a while.

They shipped my order to the wrong address

They shipped my order to the wrong address and then argued with me about my address. One of the worst customer service experiences in a long time. He interrupted my 4 or 5 times defending an address I've never heard of (have lived here 19 years, , I think I know my address). In the end, not going to get my order or a refund. Have purchased my last Traeger.

We have a traeger pro 34 that is…

We have a traeger pro 34 that is experiencing 40-50 temp swings. Customer service representative have no clue about their products other than what they read. Theft cannot understand english. After many hours of frustration i asked a servce rep how i could get intouch witty the corporate office was told i had to write a letter. So i did making no demands two weeks the letter was sent to the same whet they told me that their representative know the products and is there anything else i needed. They don't listen to or care about their customers but they tout that they do on their website and Customer sevice call in number. You don't know what you dont know until you need their help which is useless. Look at the bbb web site. Al traeger wants to do is to run you in circles. Research Customer service complaints before purchasing their products.

I have contacted the technical support…

I have contacted the technical support team four times and I have replaced parts on my smoker that I’ve had for 11 years which I’ve had no problems with for 11 years till now and on the fourth time the idiot on the phone told me that there is nothing wrong with my smoker which I know my smoker very well….they have 2 videos of the problem and they knew it’s not right till the last one doesn’t know what he’s talking about….this makes me not want another one and tell other people about my experience…he should be ashamed as a technical expert…now I have to throw it away after 11 years

True rating should be -1 to -2 stars

True rating should be -1 to -2 stars. Worst customer service experience ever. They sold me a defective grill that had problems from day 1. Rather than own up to the problem, they kept telling me to watch videos and read instructions. Then I was told they didnt have a service rep in my area. Not sure whether customer service is instructed to lie or they are completely incompetent. When I found a service tech, they informed me I would have to pay for it because the service tech was not an "authorized" service tech. In sum, Traeger sold me an utter piece of crap for over $1000 and made it entirely my problem when the grill did not work.

Doesn’t hold up

I’ve had this grill for eight years. There’s a reason why warranties are short and commit to binding arbitration. It worked ok for the first few years. Since then I’ve replaced the hot rod and temperature sensor. It won’t reliably maintain any temperature below 300 degrees which makes smoking any length of time impossible. It’s out of production so I doubt a replacement controller is even available, but I refuse to pay the hundreds it would cost. It’s ELECTRONIC! Why would it fail?

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!! The grill won’t heat up and when I called customer service Omar hung up on me, because apparently you have to connect your grill to WiFi for it to work!! I was having issues understanding how to connect and I guess he got frustrated! I am beyond frustrated, after paying all this money I had to put my ribs in the damn oven!!!!!

Warranty doesn’t cover rust

I was told the warranty covers even personal damage, yet it rusted within 2 years even though I bought the cover and kept it covered, they did not stand by the warranty, better off buying an off brand from Home Depot for less than half the price

Can't control temperature

Like many people who left reviews here I could not get my traeger grill to maintain a constant temperature. The last time I used it, I set the temperature at 225 and 20 minutes later the temperature was 375. The customer service guy was helpful but his solution was going to be him sending me parts to fix it myself and not to have it out in the sun. This grill is ONE MONTH OLD. It's being returned.

I wish I read the reviews before I…

I wish I read the reviews before I bought the grill the worst customer service that I ever dealt i mean for real it can't get any worse if I could I wouldn't give it any stars. I wonder what's up with whoever is running this company is he/she/them are even looking at the customers feedback and try and change something because this is a big let down.

Don’t ever order from Traeger directly - and pray you don’t need their customer service

Honestly, the grill I got, a Woodbridge Pro works great, except for their wireless meat probe, which sucked. But the reason for such a low rating is their customer service… more accurately their customer service system. I ordered the grill directly from Traeger.com, and it showed up 3 weeks late… 2 weeks after they told me it was with fedex for delivery the next day… well after many calls to Traeger, it finally came nearly a month after I ordered it. After my first wireless meat probe that came with the grill failed (after 2 uses), I ordered a new one directly from their website through my Traeger online account (figuring it wasn’t worth the hassle utilizing their warranty due to my prior difficult experiences with their customer service). It never arrived. Even though it still showed up as “processing“ on my traeger online order history, customer service couldn’t find my order number. I had to email them screen shots of the order from my online account with Traeger, and they still couldn’t find it. After more than an hour with the customer service agent that was trying to do their best, they promised me that their supervisors found my order and were expediting it. after another month passed (2 months from when I made the order on 5/31) it had still not arrived. I spent another nearly hour with their customer service on the phone, and they again couldn’t find the order. I asked if I could again email screen shots of my order from their website, and was told there was no way to send him an email (even though I did just that a month prior) and instead he would text me a screen sharing link. The text never came. After a few mins he sent it again, and it still didn’t come. At this point I was livid, explained to the customer service rep “Adrian” that his company’s IT customer service system sucks, and he claimed that is must be my phone because it works with all his other customers. I was livid and demanded to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor “Maryanne (SP)“ said she had no problem finding my order on their “different system” and that because the order was never shipped, they never charged me. I explained that I was charged more than 2 months prior, and that I had already paid my Visa CC for it. She argued with me that they only placed a hold and because it was never delivered, I never actually was charged, wich was not true. I finally gave up, got her name, promised to dispute their charge with Visa and would not only never order anything from Traeger online again, I would write this review everywhere I could find. SO I highly recommend that you never order anything from Traeger direct… if you want a Traeger smoker, but it directly from a store.

Excellent customer service

I can't believe the ratings on here about Traegar. I too had issues with my grill and was ready to put it out for the trash. Called c/s, was on hold for an hour but I knew it when I called. Rep spent 2.5hrs trying to help. My grill was out of warranty by 3 months. They first sent a new auger to fix my issue free of charge. It didn't fix the issue. I called back and spent over an hour with the rep and he determined that the controller was bad. Without an fight the shipped a new controller. They tracked the shipment and called to see if I installed the unit and if it fixed the issue. Happily my answer was yes. Cooked steaks the next night and they were perfect!

BUYER BEWARE: Traeger Timberline XL Disappointment

I don’t usually leave reviews, but after spending over $4,000 on the Traeger Timberline XL, I feel compelled to warn others before making the same mistake. From the moment we unboxed the grill, it was clear something was wrong. There were noticeable dents on the front lower panel and backside of the smoker—completely unacceptable for a high-end product. This immediately raised questions about Traeger’s quality control. Then came the real headache: the WiFi connectivity. One of the main reasons we bought this grill was for its smart features. But it won’t pair with the Traeger app, no matter what we try. We contacted our internet provider (confirmed our network is solid) and even reached out to Traeger support—still no resolution. They finally suggested we try downloading a third-party app to force the connection. Really? For a $4k “smart grill,” that’s completely ridiculous.Just to put it in perspective: our cheaper Masterbuilt smoker connects to WiFi with zero issues. That’s embarrassing for Traeger. To top it off, the temperature readings are off by about 25°F—the grill runs hotter than the set temp, which throws off cook times and makes precision smoking unreliable. It’s like babysitting an offset smoker… which is exactly what we were trying to avoid by buying a Traeger. We expected a premium, hassle-free experience. What we got was physical damage, failed technology, and cooking inconsistency—all for a premium price. If you’re thinking about buying the Timberline XL, think twice. At this point, we regret the purchase. Traeger needs to take accountability for the performance and quality issues on what’s supposed to be their flagship model.— A very disappointed customer
