My Honest Experience with PumpGym…

My Honest Experience with PumpGym (After 2+ Years)I never thought I’d have to write a review like this after spending over two years as a member at PumpGym, but I feel people deserve to know what really goes on behind the cheap membership price.I was banned from the gym for reasons that feel unfair and honestly disrespectful. One time, I received a warning for so-called “pod-sharing,” when all I did was help a random guy leave the gym on a Saturday evening — because there were no staff members around to assist. Another time, I was banned for leaving weights by the press machine, in the exact place I had found them myself. And in the end, my membership was cancelled altogether, with the excuse being “not returning weights.” After years of loyalty, this is how I was treated. What makes it worse is that the gym itself is far from perfect: machines stay broken for weeks, cleanliness is a constant issue, and the lack of staff during evenings makes members fend for themselves. Instead of focusing on fixing these problems, they seem more interested in punishing members over petty things.I gave PumpGym my time, money, and consistency for over two years. I genuinely enjoyed working out, but in the end, I was left feeling disrespected, unappreciated, and unfairly treated. If you’re thinking about joining, please don’t be fooled by the low cost — because what you save in money, you lose in peace of mind and respect.

I had a very poor experience at Northampton Pump Gym @knightsfitnesscoaching

It’s disappointing that a fitness space meant to be safe for all continues to support individuals who violate professional boundaries. I others and have experienced inappropriate conduct that’s been ignored despite being reported.

Awesome gym!

I normally prefer the larger health centres like Bannatynes and David Lloyd however I decided to give Pump Gyms (247 gym) a go.After being there a year now it is better in every way. Better equipment, more equipment, better atmosphere, mostly better music and a great monthly price with no long contracts.Like all gyms peak times are busy but with 20+ treadmills and 25+ benches you don't have to wait long. Give it a go, they got it right!

Recommended for day time or early hours use only

By day time the gym is great, so much kit and equipment but peak hours, clearly no control on numbers and more importantly, Parking. It’s an accident waiting to happen. People literally abandon their cars where there is no parking spaces causing built up traffic within the car park and even blocking other gym members in leaving no room to manoeuvre. No monitoring or managing from the gym staff whatsoever. Dangerous car park at night peak hours with high risk for accidents,

Despite sending multiple emails and communication with this company nothing would stand on the way for them to not taking my money despite this they still holding my money

Despite sending multiple emails and receiving confirmation from your company, it appears that you failed to fully delete my account as requested. Instead, it seems the account was only in temporary not use contrary to my explicit request for complete deletion, including all associated personal data and bank details.Furthermore, you neglected to inform Harlands of the account deletion. Upon contacting them directly, they confirmed that the lack of proper communication from your side resulted in the continuation of the direct debit withdrawals for the past two months. Harlands has also confirmed that there is no issue with issuing a refund for those charges. This Customer Service Manager Justin H. Has only provide his first name as he would not give any additional information who to contact for help. When I requested contact details to supervisors of him he finished responding. This person should never work in customer service department.

PROBLEM WITH PUMP GYM BEDFORD TEAM

PROBLEM WITH PUMP GYM BEDFORD TEAM. I JUST REGISTERED, I PAID £19.99 FOR 30 DAYS AND AFTER 5 DAYS I RECEIVED AN EMAIL WITH A 1 WEEK DIRECT DEBIT. I SENT AN EMAIL TO PUMP GYM BEDFORD AND THEY DON'T WANT TO RESOLVE, THEY SAY I HAVE TO CONTACT A THIRD COMPANY THAT I DON'T RECOGNIZE. THEN THINK BEFORE PROVIDING YOUR PERSONAL AND BANKING DETAILS TO PUMP GYM BEDFORD.

Pump gym Colchester used to be a nice…

Pump gym Colchester used to be a nice clean, lots of good equipment, spacious gym. But it seems theyre so focused on opening up new gyms across the country they’ve neglected the ones theyve got open. Half the equipment gets broken and taken away. Not replaced. Theres damaged equipment that is useable but hasnt been fixed since covid. The squat hack pads bruise ur shoulders every time because the padding is always torn out. The toilets are never clean. There’s gum all up the walls. Its always dusty and dirty. Spider webs everywhere. The pt lads spend most of their time huddled perving over the young girls. Its poorly run. Some of the equipment doesn’t get used just gets left and not replaced with stuff that will be suitable for its customers. The mat area is a shambles and is poorly laid out. Theres not enough free weights and ur constantly having to wait or share them, theres constant queues for machines. Its now become very crowded, far too many people. Some of the long term customers have left and its now full of kids who hang in groups on the machines for half hr at time, alot of the people who actually want to train, cant. The managers are aware but dont do anything about it. Theres constant people filming themselves, this should be banned like most gyms around the town it now is or should be forbidden at peak times. Machines don't get updated or theres so many better alternatives but pump just get the cheaper versions. With so much competition now of gyms in the area you would think pump would do more to keep its customers but it actually doesnt care. Before covid it was a great gym. Had a little community, between queues for machines, dodging cameras lift right and centre, half of them broken and not enough weights to go around, now it is not one i would recommend!

Gross

Pretty shoddy gym, you'll find poo and snot up the wall in the toilets, the showers stink of wee.electric sockets hanging off the wall.Busted gym equipment that's down for months on end, machine setup so close to each other some will end up having their skull crushed.floor so thick with dust you can move it around and Slime covered slippery pathways.Best thing about it I cut my leg pretty deep on their sauna, I was then banned by Marc the owner (who looking across other reviews, is history known to be quite aggressive towards paying customers) for complaining about my leg being cut open. The lack of funding and general maintenance is horrendous how the HSE haven't shut this place down is beyond me

Have they taken your fees incorrectly?

Have they taken your fees incorrectly?I cancelled my membership fees via email providing all relevant information in November 2023, as I was off travelling for 4 months. On my return in March 2024 I noticed they were still taking my fees. They claimed they hadn’t received my email. I forwarded a copy of the email I’d sent showing date & time sent & correct email address. They still said they hadn’t received it. Clearly they had received my email ‘ not actioned it.Utter disgrace. They are crooks and I’m taking them to court.

Dirty gym

Dirty gym, changing / toilets areas including sauna cleaned ever 3-5 days. Staff turn off sauna when they want to suit going home early. Gym floor suffers water ingress from leaking room in multiple area. Badly managed generally. ( coming from an x gym manager ).Broken showers & hairdryers weekly.

I don't normally write reviews but as a Transgender woman, I am so happy I joined the Colchester branch. This is the most LGBTQIA+ friendly gym I have ever been to. It feels like pride everyday! Love it!

CCTV IN CHANGING ROOMS! BADLY BEHAVED OWNER!

I am deeply disturbed by the behavior and aggressively threatening conduct of the owner (Marc Platter) of this chain of gyms. Several months ago, when getting dressed, I noticed two CCTV cameras in the men's changing rooms. I was uncomfortable with this and approached the duty staff to express my concerns. I was told that my feedback would be conveyed to the head office. Today, I spoke to the duty staff again, who advised me to send an email to the company. However, they did not ask for my name or number. Shortly after, I received a call from Marc Platter, who was shouting very aggressively and rudely. Due to my dismay about how I was being spoken to, I asked, "Do you own this gym?" expecting him to say no, and then encouraged him to consider how he was speaking to a client. He responded, "Yes." At this point, I asked him why he was shouting and being rude. He went on to shout that he has cameras to deter vandalism. He continued to shout aggressively despite my highlighting that he was shouting, and he then threatened to cancel my membership, breaking his own terms and conditions: "9. We reserve the right to cancel your membership if you breach any of our membership rules." I should note that I have NOT broken any rules; I was merely expressing my concerns about CCTV cameras being in the men's changing rooms. He continued to shout aggressively and was shouting, "I've had enough of my gyms being vandalized." I tried to explain that it wasn't me who was vandalizing them and therefore he shouldn't be shouting at me. This was while he kept shouting, so it was clear he wasn't listening and was having some form of anger attack or tantrum. This was a very angry man who clearly lacks customer care. I was not comfortable being spoken to in this way, so I hung up the phone. The next thing I received was a refund alert on my banking app, indicating that he had indeed canceled my membership and access to the gym. I am shocked and appalled by this! As a business owner, I would never speak to anyone, let alone my customers, in this way. He could have conducted a far more considerate and professional approach and handled this far better, instead he chose anger and bullying tactics. To other members or prospective members, please note that the men's changing rooms have CCTV cameras in them. Some of you won't be bothered at all, while others will. I personally do not like the idea of someone being able to watch and/or store video footage of me undressed, particularly due to the fact that a data breach is not impossible, considering how many large and well-known companies with world-class security have had data breaches. According to sources readily available online, "Any device connected to a network can be hacked. Even the most expensive and complex CCTV setups are vulnerable to remote attacks."The ICO website clearly states: "CCTV shouldn't be running in areas considered private – such as in toilets and changing rooms. Using CCTV here wouldn't usually be fair or proportionate, meaning it wouldn't be compliant with data protection law."I am completely shocked that he was so rude and aggressive and had the audacity to shout at me and then cancel my membership. For what? For expressing my concerns about them having CCTV in the men's changing room and inadvertently storing video footage of me that is highly private? This is not acceptable, and it is disgusting that the owner has behaved in this way.I believe they not only need to take those cameras down, but he also owes me an apology and a complimentary membership to make this right. APPALLING!

Parking Fiasco

The gym itself it fine. I won't go anymore though, because the gym's parking policies have cost me over twenty times my monthly gym membership in a week. The sign at the entrance to the gym says that I have to add my car number plate into their system if parking between 10pm and 6am. Given I went to the gym after 6am, I didn't do it.I got three parking tickets in a week because the times that should actually have been on the gym's sign were 11pm and 7am.I asked the gym to help me with the tickets and they gave me my records of when I had entered and exited the gym, to prove I was there. I appealed the tickets and was denied by the parking company. I then appealed one of them to a third party (a failed appeal was a guaranteed £100 penalty). This single appeal was upheld and that ticket was rescinded, so I appealed the other two. These appeals, despite being in the exact same scenario were rejected, so I had £200 of fines to pay.I went back to the gym to ask them to get them rescinded. I was told they would do it but I heard nothing back from them. This week, I received two letters through the post telling me that I have to pay £340 in total for my tickets, or face court action. Evidently, the gym were told that the tickets I'd appealed (which is what the gym told me to do) couldn't be rescinded and I'd have to pay the full balance. Why didn't the gym tell me this when it was at £100 each? Why didn't they just email the parking company in the first place when I asked them to?They've cost me £340 to use a car park that is FREE FOR GYM MEMBERS.Absolute joke.
