Made for 21st Century kids.
Same old information presented and taught to 21st century kids! The typical "brick and mortar" school system asks children — who are used to constant stimulation — to sit down and listen to lectures. Which, more often than not, they are incapable of doing. The Nomadic Professor offers a completely different, hands-ON approach to teaching. The Nomadic Professor's lessons are rich with images, videos, and audio lessons. As well as the physical aspect, guided notes, timelines, maps, building a physical "structure of terms" and even curating a museum! As a homeschooling parent, I have learned that my children retain information better by using as many senses during each lesson as possible. Using the Nomadic Professor's detailed outline, my kiddos are watching, they're listening, they're building, they're cutting, pasting, curating, and creating! They are engaged, entertained, and learning! That makes a lot of senses! To be real, I can't say enough about this program. It's obvious the creators are well-educated and that they have committed themselves to putting it all into creating a completely new and different way to learn history. They've done an outstanding job!

Loved by my homeschooled high schooler!
My homeschooled high schooler has been *loving* the World History courses. The information is fascinating, the format engaging, and the quality is exceptional. Anytime I've needed to reach out to customer service with questions, they've been quick to respond, thorough in their explanations and help, and I couldn't be more pleased. We will definitely be doing more courses and recommending Nomadic Professor to friends!

Great for academically minded homeschoolers
My smart 14 year old nephew decided that high school wasn't working for him. While I was able to sign him up for Math & English Honors (and Spanish) through a State part time online school, we were left adrift for the Social Studies credits. There's so little out there for college bound homeschool kids who want strong academic classes in history. The structure is set up so that you can take a basic, standard or advanced class. While he's taking the standard, I think he might be able to take the AP test anyway - there's not all that much difference between the standard and advanced track. The Guided Notes unit assignments are helping him learn how to learn which will help for his college experience. The self-paced option means you pay monthly. This is very helpful in that his other 3 state classes are on the semester schedule and very deadline oriented. NP's pacing allows him to be more flexible with his time, as well as continuing this over winter and summer breaks.Something to keep in mind is that this course takes a college level approach to learning and studying. This is a HUGE plus in my opinion, but it did take awhile for him to transition from a middle school approach to learning. While 5/5 and strongly recommend, the only negative is the website is a bit slower from a teacher's perspective when running the various reports. My nephew has reported no issues in website response as a learner. In summary, yes - I consider us fortunate to have come across NP and plan to use it beyond US History 1.
