We love the finished product
We love the finished product. Quality is exceptional. The once a week format is easy to accomplish, although we did get behind a few times. We were given this as a Christmas present from our son and so completed it as a couple. As we collaborated on many of the questions, it would have been easier if the questions were numbered.Also, there were several almost identical questions. A little prep work could weed out the dups and create some new questions to replace those. The most difficult part of the whole process was the Submission of the final product. Picking out a cover picture and formatting the style would have been better if we could have had more time to think about it.All in all, it was a great experience and we would definitely recommend "My Life in a Book"

A long process but well worth it in the end
My daughter gifted me ‘My Life in a Book’ and I’m so pleased she did. I have to say though that I’m 70 years old and I felt like a lot of the questions were aimed at a younger generation. There was a lot of what I classed as ‘touchy/feely’ questions whereas my generation was a ‘grin and bear it’ generation, nobody considered their inner self, you just got on with things. Also I was asked about the moment when I found out I was expecting my first child. In my day there was ‘no moment’, no instant tests, it’d not be confirmed until you were about 3 months into the pregnancy. I also found it odd that the very first question asked me about ‘childhood friends and adventures I had with them’ whereas to me the obvious place to start writing my life story was to write about my parents and my childhood. I was getting quite frustrated with the weekly questions but then from playing about on the website I found I could delete as many or all of the questions I wanted to and just write my story my way. Once I realised this I sat for hours recounting my life story and I’m so glad to have completed it. In conclusion once I found I could do it my way, yes I was totally delighted with the process. The on-line support is superb and extremely responsive (taking into account the obvious difference in time zones). Once I’d completed my book and submitted it, it was printed and despatched very quickly and the quality is excellent. A long haul but very worthwhile!!

Life's dream fulfilled thanks to My Life in a Book

It was an awesome experience
It was an awesome experience. I had not thought about my childhood in a long time. The questions asked brought insight to my experiences and how they shaped my future and my current relationships. I really had a wonderful and fun childhood. My parents have been deceased for many years so I felt a closeness to them that I haven’t felt in a long time. My daughter gave this to me as a Christmas gift last year and the book will give my adult kids a glimpse into their mom’s childhood.

A generous gift
I received the book as a gift from my son as he knew I'd made several attempts to write some stories about my early life.It was a lovely gift and a lovely idea, but I was initially very overwhelmed by it. I found the page quite difficult to navigate and didn't really relate to the weekly prompts. Consequently, as I was trying to find my own way, I got rather lost and didn't finish it. But I've now taken out an additional year and am looking forward to pulling it together, and seeing the end result.

A fabulous gift to leave your children and grandchildren
This was bought for me by my daughter and initially I felt overwhelmed by it. I wasnt an author, how would I write a book. Well despite having to pay to extend my deadline due to the pressures of life getting in the way, I did eventually finish it and have to say the end product was highly impressive!!Along the way, I did have some issues around my IT skills but the customer service was 10/10. They were extremely supportive and any questions I had were answered almost immediately. I would definitely recommend but would suggest that you answer the weekly questions in a timely manner so it is completely manageable and enjoyable. My daughter and grandchildren are thrilled to read my life story so sincere thanks “my life in a book”

Enjoy looking back!
I shared this experience with my husband although we answered questions separately. It was an interesting adventure remembering things long ago forgotten. I was faithful for months keeping up with the weekly questions but eventually lagged behind. In retrospect, I wish I had given more thought to having an introduction and I did add a final comment and photo. I also could have put photos in a file on the computer rather than look at them individually. I continue to enjoy looking at "my book".

Bought this as a gift for my mums 65th birthday a year ago. The process has been slick and easy to you use. I like how I could help mum at the end of the process to review the book and order it on her behalf. The weekly emails were good. We haven't yet received the book but are very excited to see it in print this month. Would buy this again for a loved one.

I found that the set-up was great
I found that the set-up was great. Being able to edit my answers and add to each chapter was a asset, I did find that adding photos was at times difficult and not having them going to the bottom of the text was not where I wanted them. The other thing to would improve my experience would be to have the question text match the preview pages. All in all after trying to figure out how to manipulate the photos and text I thought that this is a wonderful way to produce a book. The cover page is an added bonus.

Amazing!
I cannot express how amazing this was! I gave it to my father for Christmas 2024. He really enjoyed the questions because it triggered memories from throughout his life. He worked on it until he couldn’t anymore. I lost my father in the fall of 2025 before he completed the book. I was able to have the book printed with the 36 questions he was able to answer.Customer service was wonderful when I needed help completing it. My family and I will treasure these books for the rest of our lives as it brought him back to life after we lost him.

Highly Recommend My Life in a Book
My daughter gifted me a year subscription to the program for Christmas 2022. By the end of the year, I had only answered half the questions. So my book only had about 50 pages. After a year, I paid for an extension to add more stories. By now, you could add as many photos to a story and you can crop and resize the photos. The links are very user friendly. I love how you can add your own questions/stories, change the order of your stories and preview how it's going to look on your book. Their staff has answered my questions promptly and clearly every time I've emailed them. I had gifted my sister a year subscription and after 6 months, her husband had a stroke, so they gave her an extension. Then with a month left, she had a bad fall and they gave her another extension. They were so kind and understanding. I would highly recommend My Life in a Book!

Having worked on "My Book" for a year, I was very pleased with the physical product when it arrived. The end result exceeded my expectations: hard cover with excellent graphics, colored photos inside, glossy pages, and good-looking printing. The weekly "prompts" I found helpful as reminders that time passes awful fast, and it is easy to get behind with your writing. The recommended questions were excellent in suggesting topics for your chapters. Also, great that you could create your own topics. I found the staff "behind the scenes" to be very helpful in answering my questions and helping with problems during start-up: quick, responsive, knowledgeable. The software was good. Recommended: Allow breaking into a "copy block" to add a picture; automatically adjust spacing for each page so one knows whether they're at end of page and going to another page with only one sentence. Liked the ability to easily edit what has been written. Liked spell checking and audio write. I liked the ability to allow others to read what had been written via email. Offers of discounts were helpful. In fact, purchased subscriptions for two family members. Would like to have known about audio tape option earlier. Overall, very pleased with entire program.

How to write a book in 50 easy questions
A very innovative gift idea. I gave one to my husband, my cousin and my uncle. My husband gave one to me. It gives me a chance to reflect on my earlier years, and hopefully that will be juicy reading for my relatives that outlive me. I don't consider myself a writer, but mylifeinabook breaks it up into weekly questions, that don't overpower one. And eventually it will be a book!

Great Idea for a special gift
My son gave this to me as a gift for Christmas 2024. I enjoyed answering the weekly questions. It was very easy to occasionally change the question for one more suited to my needs.Great support from the company who answered any queries by return.I now have the printed book and I am delighted with it. Already being read and enjoyed by my family.

I really love the concept of setting up my book. I liked the fact that you could add photos in that related to that chapter. The quality of the book was terrific and the time from ordering to delivery was very quick.A bit of extra feedback though: I appreciate that I could write my own chapters, as I felt the 70+ questions were rather repetitive or not relevant.Also, the cost to get another copy is far too expensive. I worked out it would cost me around $70(Aust) to get another copy delivered. I'm sure that if you offered a good deal to get additional copies, that this would be a win/win for both yourselves and the customer.
