Worst moving experience with these liars

These guys will purposefully mislead you with their initial quote. We moved from Virginia to Alabama, one bedroom apartment, and the initial quote was quite competitive so we decided to go with them. Worst decision I could have made. After signing the contract, I was told that a "Quality Assurance" specialist would call me at least a day before the move. I reached out a couple of times before via email to confirm the day and time they would arrive, but I received no reply. The day before the move, no call, so I called and was met with extreme aggression and hostility from the "customer service" representative, blaming me for not contacting them even though I had email receipts to prove that I had indeed reached out. The moving guys eventually showed up, and to my surprise (I guess I should have expected this at this point), they charged us about $2,000 more than the initial quote. They brought a 15-foot moving truck, but they said that they would have to charge us more because we had "more stuff" than the quality assurance person said, even though when the truck was filled, it was barely half full. After the movers took our stuff, they moved everything to a warehouse in NJ, and it took us over 3 weeks to receive our things (about 1 week longer than they promised). And to top things off, they didn't even drop our things off at our new place. We had to meet the movers at a gas station 20 minutes away with our own truck and move things in ourselves. These guys are a joke, have no sense of customer service, and will do everything they can to lock you in before scamming you left and right. PLEASE read the fine print, and do yourself a favor and avoid these guys at all costs.

Initial estimates are misleading and you will end up paying a lot more on moving day

They did a satisfactory job of packing and moving all my things. But if you’re considering picking them over other movers/using pods etc because of their competitive pricing, you shouldn’t. They will definitely charge you around 2-3x the original estimate easy. And since this happens the day you’re supposed to move, there aren’t many options but to pay up- especially if you’re doing a move with an infant to care for!

Bait and Switch!

Bait and Switch!Perhaps I should wait bit to enter this, but I have been told by Long Haul that my move is "over" despite the fact that nothing has been put on a truck, much less been delivered to my new home, so I suppose it is time.Their business model is this: they quote you a reasonable cubic footage and price, and take a deposit. Then they send out a different moving company who tells you it will take significantly more cubic footage -- twice as much, in our case -- and tell you that you can either leave half your stuff behind or pay through the nose for the difference. Or, of course, they will gladly keep your deposit and not move anything. The staff lied to me and talked over me repeatedly. Bruce Nash in "customer service" told me there was no one else to talk, because the owner doesn't lower himself to talking to customers. They stand by nothing they say and cannot be shamed into doing so. Do not waste your money with these scammers.

Choose Anyone Else

If I could give less than one star I would. I booked with this company on 29 January for a move from Austin, TX to Woodbridge, VA. I informed the salesman of my items and told him all of my things were in a storage unit. I told him I had an entire house worth of merchandise sans any large furniture. I was quoted $3700 approximately and was given several discounts which I greatly appreciated which left me with a balance of $1998! I paid the deposit of $878 and had a remaining balance of $1100 approximately. Approximately the third week of May I called to schedule my move and was told I'd be contacted a few days prior to confirm time and date of pick up. Perfect. The Friday before my move I was called to schedule the move and was given a date and pick up window. The pick up was scheduled for 18 June between 1200-1600. So far everything is going great. Then on Saturday 15 June I received a call to confirm my inventory and an email. The email listed everything I told the salesman I had: 60 boxes, a queen sized mattress, 56in tv, bicycle, queen bed frame, tv stand, entry way bench/table. I confirmed that everything on the sheet was accurate. I then received a phone call essentially telling me that I was misquoted. That the quote I was given was for a move of 350sq ft where I have closer to 750sq ft of merchandise; making my move over $5000. I explained to the gentleman that I was clear about what I had and it's not my fault that the sales agent misquoted me. And that it's unfair to call me two days before my move and essentially back me into a corner. I was in a position where I either accepted the $5000 quote, agreed to move 350sq ft only or cancel the move altogether. While on the phone I agreed to keep the move and move the 350sqft. After the phone call I decided the cancel the move altogether in hopes of getting my deposit returned. I sent an email on 15 June cancelling the move. On 17 June I received a call from someone in the customer service department confirming that I wanted to cancel the move. I explained what happened and how I was hoping to get my deposit back. The agent just kept repeating how it was against their policy. I expressed how their process was unfair to the customer; I was severely misquoted at no fault of my own and now I'm out my deposit. Long Haul hasn't done anything to try to rectify the situation and now I'm in a position where I have to complete the move on my own. If I were you, I wouldn't book with this company. I felt like I could trust this company since it's veteran owned and I am a veteran myself. I am disappointed with how all of this played out and I just want my deposit back.

Bad service not real moving company

Sketchy moving company . They were supposed to call me the day before pick up date and never told the actual moving company about it. I got a lower quote and that’s why I scheduled with them. Unfortunately, when they didn’t call I thought something sketchy was up and that’s when I started reading all the awful reviews from the website about this company . However reads this please be aware that this is not a primary moving company just a broker and they are hard to get in touch with. They ended up calling my the day of the pick up but given the bad reviews of missing packages and delayed deliveries I opted not to continue with them . I lost my deposit fee of $700 but didn’t not want to also lose my belongings with this company .

The worst experience I’ve ever had in…

The worst experience I’ve ever had in my life. Do not use this company unless you want to be taken advantage of. Long Haul will not give you A correct quote and then when the moving company comes to your home, they will add an additional $500 to $600 on top of what to do. It is dishonest and. Even once I told the mover that we would take off the couches and leave them behind, he said there would be an additional charge for fuel. The company is not honest at all.

Please do not use them

Please do not use them. It’s a huge scam! David Owen is a liar and a fraud. He quoted me 3,200 and my move cost 4,900. He had a different company show up for my move, and they were in a small truck that they then moved stuff to larger one after saying this wouldn’t happen. Also, they said it was a three day move, and it was a week later I got my stuff. They are stealing from people on a daily basis by misquoting the move. Trrroble company, then they don’t answer any calls. Horrible!!!!!!

Please do not get talked into hiring this company

I’ll start out by saying I’ve never left a negative review for anything in my life. I just want to strongly urge anyone to not hire this company or work with an employee named David. I even gave him a chance before writing this to give me some sort of money back but he has gone radio silent. He was extremely responsive before I paid. Weird. And into my story of hiring the worst company to move across country….I was quoted 2 grand for my move and gave an itemized list of exactly what I had. Moving day I had to throw away all my end tables, a tv stand, mirrors, and a desk because I was under quoted for the square footage. I’m not even sure if logically you could be that off on an estimate without knowing the customer was going to be forced to either throw away their stuff or pay extra. Even stranger, my friends who moved to the same location from a farther distance, paid the same amount and were able to move a 2 bedroom and all it’s materials (their stuff also arrived a week late). I was very clear I needed my stuff moved to Texas on the 8th (5 days after pick up). Because call me crazy, I didn’t want to sleep on an air mattress with none of my belongings for the first week after moving across the country. Anticipating a company would have some sort of idea when their drivers would arrive, I called asking what their eta was (2 days before I was planning on it to arrive). They told me they can give no estimate on arrival and they would tell me 24 hours before they get there. I then began playing phone tag with the 3 different businesses that were apparently part of this move. I then was told it would show up on Wednesday, then Thursday, then Friday, then for sure Saturday! Saturday comes and it’s 10 minutes from when they said they’d be there. I get a call from the Philippines ASKING ME if the mover was there. I said no, and call me back once you can tell me when they’re going to get here. Then once again all of the contacts I had did not answer the entire day. I then got a text from the driver the next morning that he was going to come at 10. Showed up at 1. Then I got a call back from the person that ghosted me for the last 24 hours saying I had to pay a 100 dollar “elevator fee”. Wanting to sleep on an actual bed for the first time in a week, I paid. Still thinking about hiring this company? The real icing on the cake was that the mover left with one of my boxes and I’m still waiting on getting that to this day. Honestly it’s kind of sad that people can do this to other people. I even voiced my concerns with David and mentioned how there was some negative reviews. He assured me that those were standard in this industry and not to worry as long as I give them all of the correct info. Well please don’t do what I did and think they’re probably just the type of person to leave negative reviews on everything. Best of luck to whoever is moving a long distance. There are a lot of things that are already stressful about that. Don’t let this company make your move 100X more stressful.

Do not use this company. It’s a scam and a rip off.

This company doesn’t even deserve one star I don’t know how this company remains in business this company go to F rating and better business. They screwed me out of my $3500 deposit. How do you spoke with a Perry and listen to all his lies and David along with his lies the sad part is I trusted him. I signed a contract immediately I called and emailed back and said I will move 150 boxes myself because I couldn’t afford the $8000 estimate. I gave them two weeks for them to make the proper arrangement of storage on the truck for my final pick up. They never called me back. I have documentation I have pictures emails, phone records the day of the move. They finally talk to me and said they still would charge me 4500 hours even if I only had 12 things to put on the truck this company I don’t know how they can stay in business oh I know is they’re dishonest under a bunch of pigs.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - We received an estimate to move our stuff across the country. It was the best price, so we decided to move forward with this company. We updated our inventory a couple times to try and make sure it was as accurate as possible. When movers arrived, the foreman told me they had things like a single dresser listed, when it should’ve been a double. The foreman told us they constantly have problems like this because the sales people don’t ask the right questions in order to give the best estimate. We then had to pay an extra $1600 for the additional space we needed on the truck. We tried speaking with customer service about this and the gentleman was adamant that their team would have asked us the right questions, and he constantly spoke over me, and was incredibly rude and not willing to work with us. Overall absolutely awful experience because the estimate we received was no where near what we actually had to pay and customer service is incredibly rude.

Totally misled about prices

I have been totally lied to by this company. The move was significantly higher than they had quoted. The transport of my car as well. Now that I have to use the storage feature because I have unable to close on my new apartment, the storage is tripled monthly than quoted. They don't answer calls now that I gave them a favorable survey. They probably won't post this comment either.

SCAM, FRAUD Run away from these theives

I contracted with this”company” for a move from Fl to SC. Andy in the sales department set upthis move and I paid 1485$ for the “down payment” he then broke down the Pickup and delivery payments. I gave him my inventory to be moved where he told me I had 782 CF to be moved. I called the company two times to insure I would not be charged more. They told me “as long as I do not add to my inventory list I would not be charged more”. When the movers arrived they informed me they could only move half of my things because I had DOUDLE the inventory. NOTHING was added to my inventory sheet.. the movers told me Long Haul does this all the time when I tried to call the company all I could speak to was Bruce.I was basically told …oh well. I asked the movers about the 1485$ and they said Long haul keeps it

Poor and criminal in nature

Poor and criminal in nature. The sales rep. Sam told me everything I wanted to hear over the phone, including giving me six months of free storage in Texas. Then when Spartan picked up my items from Colorado and took them to Texas, the storage fees of two grand a month came in to play. They held on to my things Demanding whatever amount they wanted to make up for rent that was due instead of free six-month storage it turned into nearly another $10,000. They knew what they were doing with the sales department but the contract that came through they took out everything they told me over the phone. I missed the final details and signed the contract, not knowing they took out the free storage , as soon as you sign the contract, it gets sold to Spartan and they’re out of Austin. They’re protected under federal law and they know that so they work the system but if they tell you many things that are good to be true it’s because it is. Sorry to report they’re in the shyster business of taking you to the cleaners and taking all your money. Run! Do not listen to their sales department that are based in Florida. Also on moving day, they showed up a day late, and did not store my items for free as they had promised. They also told me they would start my items in Dallas and they ended up starting them in Austin than charged me the transportation cost from Austin to Dallas so I can get my stuff back in addition to the storage that was supposed to be free they quoted me originally 6800 for all the moving expenses and free storage and it really turned out to be a total of 14,000 when it was all said and done. I had to pay the money to get my things back, irreplaceable pictures, furniture my child things I had no choice, but to pay even hired an attorney, and there is nothing that they could do Run fast from this firm they are not good.

Dishonest and Deceitful

I moved from Houston, TX to Florida in the summer of 2023. I called around to multiple companies to get a whole-house move quote. The person I talked to on the phone assured me that he could beat anyone else's price because they were based in Fl. and the trucks coming had to come to Fl. since it was their base of operations. I did shop around some more, and LHM&S was the cheapest. I did the deposit over the phone, and the young man assured me he was my contact throughout the entire move. well he wasn't. He quit a week later. What I discovered was that LHM&S was nothing more than a brokerage company that sold contracts to other moving companies. They took the bookings and the phone calls but sold the moving contract. I was never told this, and from my conversations, it seemed that they were the moving co. I made contact with LHM&S multiple times, both by phone and by e-mail. As the moving day approached, I did a final listing of all items, including the number of boxes and the size of the boxes to be moved. (I have that e-mail saved) I was told that a bigger truck would be needed and as such a $250.00 additional fee was required. I had no problem with that because of the original price quoted me. On the day of the move, a truck showed up from a moving company that was not LHM&S. They informed me that LHM&S contracted them to do the move. They arrived 6 hours late and then said I had too much stuff to fit into the truck and a 2nd truck would be needed at an additional $4,000.00. Payments were to be in postal orders or cash only. When I called LHM&S, they knew nothing about my updated contents/boxes list, and the gentleman I had been talking to for two months was no longer there. Apparently, he disappeared overnight because I had talked to him the night before the move to make sure everything was alright. In the end, I had to move that day. I had sold the house and had to be out of it the following day. I paid the extra cost. The manager at LHM&S kept telling me it was my fault for not providing an accurate count (Which I did and updated at least three times during the packing process. I even took pictures of the larger pieces of furniture as requested by LHM&S. In the end, the moving company had a 1 star rating and from my experience, it was well deserved. Antiques damaged, pictures broken, furniture broken, cheep packing tape put over everything, boxes lost and never recovered. No accounting for the number of boxes moved/delivered. Items are kept for weeks in a non-climate-controlled storage area in a third state. It is a 13-hour drive from Houston to where I live now, and it took over 20 days for the first to arrive at my new house. When I complained to LHM&S, the woman told me I should have shopped around and paid more. I needed to resolve claims for damage with the actual moving co., which ended up being 1 cent per pound of damaged items if approved by a company mediator.

Deceptive Practices and Unreasonable Policies

This company will: 1) Give you an artificially low estimate to receive a deposit from you, 2) Have you sign documents while on the phone with them so that you do not have time to review the terms and conditions, 3) Increase their estimates by many thousands of dollars without transparency about why the original estimate and newer estimate are so disparate, 4) Not issue a refund unless you cancel within 72 hours from when you provided your deposit. Long Haul Moving and Storage should provide more accurate estimates in the initial contact with the costumer, not request signatures on paperwork while on the phone with the customer and allow the customer to review the paperwork at length prior to obtaining a signature, revise their refund policy for deposits on moves cancelled within 30 days of the scheduled move.

Moving was so easy!

Moving was so easy with these guys! The folks on the phone were real professionals! They were able to answer all our questions, and gave us a reasonable quote. The movers were right on time, super nice, and made sure our stuff didn't get banged up. It was like having friendly superheroes help us move. Definitely 5 stars – they made everything way less stressful! With these folks, I won't have to worry about trying to move on my own ever again. I'm definitely calling them again.

Worst Experience Ever!

Based on the other reviews already posted about Long Haul Moving and Storage (“LHMS”), this moving broker seemingly thrives on employing the classic fraudulent business practice of “bait and switch,” as clearly shown below. The bait and switch involves: (i) at the front end, a major underestimate of cubic footage ("cf.") to get a customer's business, followed by (ii) at the back end, a massive upcharge by the carrier. On or about 11 December 2023, I spoke with Russell at LHMS about my upcoming move from Georgia to Florida, during which call I provided a very precise inventory of the 32 or so items I was moving. Russell then sent to me a “Binding Estimate” (what an oxymoron!) that estimated my inventory to require 364 cf., or 2548 lbs., which resulted in a “Total Estimate Price” of $2498. On 2 January 2024, I spoke with someone in LHMS's “Customer Support” (yet another oxymoron!) to finalize my inventory and was told that all was good to go with no change in cf.On 4 January, upon a late arrival, LMHS’s moving company, Colony Moving Services, Inc. out of North Carolina (“Colony”), immediately told me that LHMS's Binding Estimate cf. was way off -- even before seeing all of my property or comparing it to the agreed-upon inventory. Colony ended up charging me an additional 236 cf., (an additional 64.8%!), resulting in an additional cost of $1180 (an increase of 47.2%!) – without any explanation re deviations from my specific inventory agreed with LHMS. Before I allowed Colony to load any of my property, I complained about this highway robbery to the LHMS Customer Support rep. (Bruce), and he threatened me that if I were to send Colony away, I would NOT get back the $1181 deposit I had foolishly paid LHMS. This was a clear breach of the so-called Binding Estimate, which stated that I would be charged an additional amount only for new items added to my inventory or new cf. added to my inventory. Also, LMHS’s cf. gross underestimate was plain and simple fraud.Final note: Colony was the ABSOLUTE WORST, MOST UNPROFESSIONAL moving company I have used in multiple moves over the past four decades.

STEER CLEAR OF THIS BUSINESS

STEER CLEAR OF THIS BUSINESS! WARNING.  The people manning the phones will draw you in with a bogus estimate that seems reasonable for a 1 bdrm move $1500 or so and then TRIPLE to a total of $5388 + by the time you're done. This REALLY Happened to us. Filed a BBB Complaint registered with the West Palm Beach BBB and Raleigh NC. Long Haul Moving and Storage are predatory middlemen who are nice as peaches on the phone yet appear to be preying upon the public and changing dates last minute; completely corrupt of any decency or honesty.   They  hired U.S. Professional Movers out of North Carolina as contractor who then tried to get another $4,000 dollars from us on move date!  He went to the phone and came back and still asked for another $800. After 3 inventory phone calls with Long Haul Moving and Storage and documented items!   Tried to decline move but had already put down a $2,000 non refundable deposit!   The guy hired a stoner with a bad leg who smoked pot the whole time he was supposed to be working.  He also refused to take the documented inventory so I had to pay for mailing and then take the glass pieces and remainder of items myself to new location! Truck had a patched hole in the roof.   Driver was very rude and tried to intimidate my family into paying more than agreed with the Long Haul Moving and Storage. Complete RIP OFF ARTISTS. DO NOT USE.
