Banged up my walls
Banged up my walls. Never came out to access the damages. They have ignored all my calls and emails. They responded to my yelp review with excuses but yet have not taken responsibility for their actions. Leaves me no choice but to hire a lawyer.

Read the fine print...ridiculous
I considered using these movers, emailed back and forth, got a quote. The deal breaker was the hidden clause in the fine print that says they can charge you any extra amount they see fit for items over 200 lbs. Well, 200 lbs is not much for a piece of furniture; the average 3 seat sofa is around 200 lbs. So now I have to haggle with them over every piece of furniture they claim to be over 200# when I don't have a scale I can weigh it with? That sound like fun, as they are holding my furniture hostage waiting for me to pay cash to unload it. The girl in the office said "just send me a picture." That is so asinine. How can she tell from a picture whether it is solid wood or pressed wood (you can't); sling frame or high quality wood frame, 190lbs. or 210 lbs? You can't. I could see if they had an upcharge for a piano, or a huge china cabinet that won't come apart, but that's not what the contract says. Over 10 companies responded to my request for a quote, and these are the ONLY guys that have this fine print. So glad I spotted this red flag and then read these horrible reviews. Not worth getting a quote a few bucks less, and then dealing with people like this.

Gateway Express is a scam brokerage…
Gateway Express is a scam brokerage firm - with great salesmen and no quality. Jared and CJ are liars who will tell you anything to get you to sign - including sob stories about being Vets. They are a disgrace and not to be trusted. Gateway Express subcontracted our move out to two other companies - One Way Movers and Diamond Movers. We paid a lot of money and were told our furniture would arrive in 5 days. It took 3 weeks and several items were damaged and missing. They packed us in NJ and unloaded our stuff to a warehouse in Baltimore MD for two weeks. From there, they reloaded it to a truck that could barely run and indeed broke down on the way to FL causing more delays. When they finally arrived, the crew apologized but said 'this always happens with Gateway Express and we have to deal with irate customers!' They refused to take anything off the truck until final payment - in cash - was received. They knew from experience there was going to be an issue! Jared 'sold' me the insurance - guaranteeing me his company was so careful - I would never need to use it. I put in a claim for almost $2000 of damaged and missing items - they offered me $120! Several calls to Gateway Express, One Way Movers and the insurance company have all gone unanswered. I am currently working with an attorney to recoup some of my losses. Stay away from this company! i wish I would have done more research before I signed with them! Don't make the same mistake we did!

If you get a call from this company RUN…
If you get a call from this company RUN THE OTHER WAY AND NEVER LOOK BACK! This company is nothing but a bunch of con-artist scammers who will will make you think they are the best thing around. They are a moving broker and will not do the work themselves then send it out to another con-artist scammer who will continue to fleece you and never deliver your belongings at all or deliver them with considerable damage well after they were supposed to arrive. They will then promise to help you with your issues nver to be heard from again. For the love of God never ever ever do business with this company.

Do NOT use this company
Do NOT use this company. - On the day of our scheduled move they did not show up, nor did they even call. When I finally reached them that evening they said there had been a problem, and they would pick us up the next day. They did not show up the next day either. On the 3rd day we told them to forget it ! (At great inconvenience and expense we found another mover). They have never given us a refund for our deposit, which was over $1,000. They are dishonest conmen. I have never had such a bad experience with any mover..

My move was a nightmare
My move was a nightmare. I gave an exact number of large items and an estimate of boxes. I said I had ordered 50 medium and 50 large boxes and probably will fill them all. When the movers came, the price doubled. They loaded the truck on 8/25/20 and they finally delivered my items on 10/12/20. At least a dozen items were missing, at least 10 items were broken, and all of the furniture except the 2 recliners had some damage. They had taken the contents from a number of small boxes and threw them into a large box. I had jewelry mixed with tools and batteries and other items that were packed in individual boxes. The people we called were rude and the driver of the delivery truck was also rude. My advice, don't hire this company.

If you are looking for a reputable…
If you are looking for a reputable moving company that will stand by their word and make your move easy, stress free and painless....keep looking. These guys claim to be veteran owned and operated, and claim they care about other veterans. They also claim to own their own trucks. None of this could be further from the truth. They are brokers. They will tell you that they will beat anyone's pricing and they will in fact quote you a fair price. Then the trickery begins. They'll ask for a pretty decent deposit to "make sure they can get you on their schedule", what this really means is they are selling your contract to an actual moving company and they want to get paid, your deposit is how they get paid. They'll schedule your move for the absolute last minute of your desired schedule, meaning if you have to be out of your house by the 5th and give them a window of the 1st-5th, they'll make sure whomever buy the contract shows up on the last day of your time frame. This allows them to pull the next trick, the movers that show up will inform you that Gateway misquoted your move. Now your quote has doubled, because someone "new" at Gateway didn't prepare the list properly. It's always someone brand new. So now with the clock ticking for when you need to move out of the house you just sold, you'll attempt to call Gateway and even though you're calling during normal business hours, your call will go unanswered. So you call from your friends phone and they pick up right away. You explain that there has been a mistake and they will transfer you to CJ. Now they know you're on to them and while transferring you, the receptionist gives CJ the heads up, straight to voicemail. You call back multiple times, but now they know your friends number so you use another friends number, and the cycle starts all over. CJ is on the other line, here's his voicemail etc. So now you start calling other moving companies and of course nobody has availability because of course its last minute and you had no idea that this veteran owned company was going to screw over another veteran. So I said screw it, pack it all up and shame on me for not doing more research. You pay half of the new price and they load up your stuff. You move to the new state, buy your house and now you're ready for your stuff to be shipped. LAMO, Here is the next trick. You can only pay the remaining balance with cash or a postal money order, which BTW has gone up an additional amount bring your total move up to 3 times your original quote. Now you're extremely pissed but you want your stuff and you schedule your delivery. And of course the movers that show up to deliver are a) with a third company and b) show up on a Sunday so you can't call Gateway or Safeway (the 2nd moving company involved). They won't unload your stuff until you pay them first. They claim this is to protect them from working for free. You pay them and they start unloading your stuff into the house and garage. All of your furniture is now damaged because these movers use box cutters to remove the blankets and packaging that you paid extra for to protect your furniture. They finally produce your paperwork to you after everything has been shoved into the entry of the house or the garage. Part of why you hired movers, was because you were told they would set up furniture and place boxes in the rooms that you wanted. Not during the pandemic though even though you paid for that service. So you quickly start trying to do inventory while they are closing up their trailer. Unfortunately you just moved a 5 bedroom house with 4 kids across the US, so they leave before you have time to finish comparing the numbered stickers on the boxes and your list that they gave which is BTW super faint because it is the 5th carbon copy of the paperwork. 16 missing boxes later, all of which were labeled (home theater, blu rays, collectible pint glasses) of course those were "lost" freaking thieves. Stay as far away from these clowns as possible. Get a POD, pack it yourself and save yourself a huge headache and lots of money.

Scammers, cheats and liars!…
If I could give then a negative review I would.Stay away from this company. They are cheats and scam artists. Everything Tom the owner says is a lie. They do not move anything but their mouths. They do not own trucks they are brokers. We hired them for an august 19 move and they finally showed up august 25. Here it is October 13 and we just got our stuff when it was supposed to be delivered September 9. Once they got our deposit that was it we could not get in touch with them without an act of Congress. No more answered emails either. They tried to extort more money from us. They dumped our stuff into storage and would not tell us where until we paid more money. We would not do that we had a contract. Finally we got to the storage unit and all the boxes were crushed and opened and gone thru. Every piece of furniture is broken. We have hired an attorney and are suing them because we know they will not honor their word and pay for damages, they lied about everything else. Do not use this company. They should be shut down and thrown in jail.

Scratch this company immediately. Do not use them!
This is not a moving company. They contract with other movers around the country and you have no say in who is moving your belongings. This move was for a retired veteran and his wife, (my Mom and Dad.) 1) Gateway Express was dishonest from the start selling me on all the reasons why I should move by weight and not m3. At the load out in Nevada they contracted with "Champion Movers, LLC." who did not show up with a weighed truck and changed the contract to m3, with Gateway Express blessing, nearly doubling the cost of my move. 2) We did have additional items but nowhere near double. I was not on location and they had my sister sign the paperwork and at no time was anyone given permission to sign for me. The contract was with me, no one else. Gateway Express nor Champion Movers even attempted to call me and tell me about the change in billing method.3) I sent multiple emails to Gateway Express and Map Moving, who somehow got involved, asking how they could legally change the billing method from weight to m3. Map Moving assured me the move was by weight, even though I had paperwork from the load site showing it in m3. I asked for paperwork showing weights multiple times and none was ever produced by Map Moving, Champion Movers or Gateway Express. 4) At the delivery in Daphne, AL, they contracted with Map Moving & Storage. Their people did a good job getting things unloaded and in the right places. 5) "Everything is insured, if we break anything in boxes we packed or any furniture, etc. is damaged, it is fully covered and will be replaced." This is an absolute lie! A coffee table was broken beyond repair and a curio cabinet had glass broken in it. Not bad for a cross country move. In the end though, you are dealing with Map Moving & Storage for insurance and not Gateway Express, none of which has ever been mentioned by Gateway Express. Map Moving & Storage does not cover any type of furniture made from compressed wood, so this was our loss. On the curio cabinet they offered $40, telling me I could replace the glass. When I explained to them they broke the glass and they should replace it, they did not respond. In addition, you could only receive the $40 if you signed a form agreeing to never review them negatively on a list of sites they covered, including US Government sites. 6) Needless to say, the reviews are worth much more than $40 to me. Bottom line, STAY AWAY, in my experience, an entirely dishonest operation taking advantage of retired veterans.

S C A M M E R S.
S C A M M E R S.This is like all other honest and real reviews everywhere, the worst, most traumatic moving experience I’ve ever had. All the seemingly 5 star reviews are fake. Do not buy it. They are moving brokers that claim they are ethical veterans and they are in fact not. They used their past military service under the guise that they are trustworthy and reputable. They are not. As many others have said, the scam they used on me is to say that they have a truck in the area, therefore, lowering the price. That was a lie. I’m honestly not even the most upset about them going from a $3,000 estimate to the $7,000 we paid. I am most upset that we were treated so poorly by “movers” not vetted or safe and all of our items are missing and/or broken. We told them many times, as well as by email, we would have GLADLY paid more money for our items to have been handled properly and not broken. We are now out thousands of dollars, not only from this horrendous move, but because all our furniture is broken and ruined. It has been devastating to us as a family. We were harassed by the delivery driver (he was affiliated with “City Moving”) and I was screamed at by him and disrespected while holding my 18 month old baby, while I am pregnant. He threatened myself with my infant child and my husband. Frankly, he was blatantly sexist and made us pay him cash under the table because he swore he saved us money. We just wanted our stuff delivered so stupidly we obliged. He took an extra $100 without telling us. Also, we were told that the service covers disassembly and reassembly. He did not want to do that because he “hadn’t eaten today” and “didn’t want to stay overnight”. Every single thing we were told and promised was a bold faced LIE. There are so many more awful details to this but instead I will leave you with this. Please for your family’s physical and emotional safety, go with a reputable moving company. We should have went with Allied in retrospect. We used them in the past, and while more expensive on the surface, they were honest and delivered all my items in mint condition. But In the end, Gateway, or whoever they are, will be more expensive because you will have to pay to replace all your broken and lost furniture. Please check the Better Business Bureau website! You will see all of their dozens of complaints and that they are not even accredited. You can also read the similar horror stories from customers as well. Be prepared to retain a lawyer as well if you hire this company because you will need it, as they will do absolutely NOTHING to help you. They will not answer your calls or reply to your emails or offer any sort of resolution. What they will do, is ignore you and hope it goes away and you get tired of calling. Their tactic is so easy to see and it’s not only unprofessional, it’s morally bankrupt. Please please do NOT ever book with these scammers! They will leave you destitute and in a worse position than before you moved.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. NOT AS RELIABLE AS THEY CLAIM TO BE.
Honestly I feel deceived through this whole process. When moving across the country you want to know that your possessions are in good hands and know that your stuff will arrive promptly when they say. Well, the person who booked me failed to tell me a couple of things, 1: that a third party company comes to move you with a shared truck with other people’s belongings (nowhere to be found in the contract) 2: who to make my payment available to, (also nowhere to be found in the contract.) so I was very confused when a company called MAP Moving & Storage came out to get my things and already had my cashiers check made out to Gateway. BUT what he did tell me is that my truck would arrive to the drop off location between 5 and 7 days, which I’m sure you’ve probably guessed by now is a bold faced lie!!Here I am in a new state almost THREE WEEKS after they picked up my stuff without a bed, my clothes or any of my personal items because my stuff sat in Colorado for TWO WEEKS before they even loaded it to a DIFFERENT truck to be driven out to me. SAVE YOUR MONEY.

Please DO NOT use this moving company
Please DO NOT use this moving company. They contract with R&M Transportation for dispatching services. I moved from Maryland to Miami July 31st. First, two movers showed up and two additional contractors came, which could not put tape on a box. They just stood around and talked, so the team lead sent the two contractors home after 30 minutes. That left 2 guys moving a three level, 4 bedroom house...they started at 9:30am and did not leave my house until 10:00pm. At that point, they told me everything could not fit on the truck. and told me another truck would be there at 7:30 the next morning. The truck did not get there until 9:30. My 2018 Honda Goldwing motorcycle was on that truck. I specifically provided instructions for no one to touch the bike and I needed to drive it off the truck when the truck arrived in Miami. When I arrived to the storage place, the bike was off of the truck, and the steering wheel would not lock, the bike would not start and it had deep scratches on the rear saddle bag. Both of these companies (Gateway Express and R&M Transportation) needs to be put on every website for poor service. They do not care about customers. I tried contacting the CEO's of both companies and was told by dispatching that they do not talk to customers because they are in the field work. I will be filing a lawsuit against both companies. PLEASE DO NOT USE EITHER ONE OF THESE COMPANIES. THE SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!

Less than one star service
Your company “Guarantees a Five Star Experience”. What exactly does that mean? I agreed to make my move with Gateway because of the promises that I was given. You would be there through the entire process, my items would be double wrapped so no need for additional insurance costs, it would be a smooth experience, and those are just a few.As soon as the actual moving company came, since your company is actually just a broker, Gateway stopped doing anything for me. I needed help with some issues from the start and they made me contact the actual moving company and did not help at all. Then, my furniture arrived, completely unwrapped and with $6000 worth of damage. I played by the rules and paid everything I needed to. I filed a claim, and guess what? Since I took Gateway’s word for it, more specifically, Daniel at Gateway, I didn’t pay the extra to get my stuff insured more, so I was out of luck. The claim company offered me a whopping $45...for $6000 worth of damage and one item was something that was going to be handed down to my grandchildren. Now I can’t reach anyone at Gateway. I have been calling and emailing and no one wants to speak to me. I know there is a way they can make this right if they really want to and if you really “Guarantee and Five Star Move”. They clearly are just in this for the quick buck and make promises they don’t intend to keep.

NEVER use this company!
If I could give negative stars to this company I would! This company is a joke. My movers just to pick up my things were 4 hours late, made me pay $200 more than I was promised at this time, took hours to load my things and ignored every single one of my questions. I was promised my things would be at my new place of living within two weeks of my things being picked up, when the day arrived I called the company and they THEN informed me that my stuff could take up to 21 business days to get to my new place of living. I dealt with this company for over a month trying to find out when my stuff was going to get here and/or where my stuff even was. I was told my things were taken to Florida, which makes no sense considering my move was from Kentucky to Las Vegas, NV. I was never given a legitimate reason as to why my things where ever taken there. It was getting to a point I was talking to their AWFUL, snappy, rude customer service representative every other day, because I thought my stuff had actually been stolen. Well a month after my things had been picked up they finally show up to my place broken and severely water damaged. This company is a scam who only cares to make a buck and has no respect for customers and their things. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.

dishonest
This is a brokers company. I initially chose this company because of the decent reviews and reasonable price. I moved from RI to California. Its been a month and I haven't received my stuff. Gateway told me around 2 weeks but likely 10 days. After the truck was loaded, it was impossible to get in touch with anyone from the office ( I tried many times, voicemails, emails, multiple numbers). This seems to be the theme from another review that I came across. I was able to get in touch with the company they are contracted with who told me their policy is 21 business days. Its been 20 business days and I havent not received my stuff. The company has not been able to give me an ETA. We asked multiple times to speak with someone from gateway but this has not happened. In addition, the contract that is online disappears after the truck is loaded.I am now questioning the authenticity of some of these reviews. Its unfortunate that they choose to act very unprofessionally and are dishonest about the time. All they had to do was be upfront from the start and respond to phone calls.

Quoted for $3500 and charged $6300
Under no circumstances should you use this company, it's a complete scam. Their sales people are slick and promise you the world, but never mention they won't actually be moving you themselves, they just broker the move. Once an issue arises, they take no responsibility and pass it off.Apparently I was severely under quoted on our moving bid. My original quote was for $3800. I was repeatedly told this was an overestimate and that I would be paying more likely around $3500.I was told the movers would pack up furniture for me, all I had to do was have everything else in boxes. That's a lie and I was charged for packing. After my original quote, I sold an entire bedroom set (mattress, box spring, frame, dresser and nightstand) a tv, and a weight bench. Surely I thought I would be paying under $3500 now. WRONG! These guys showed up, packed the truck and then told me it would be $6300. What was I supposed to do at that point, tell them to unpack the truck?!?I can not stress to you enough, you need to go with a different company. Pick a company that will actually come out to your house before the move, take a visual assessment and give you a realistic quote.

Disatisfied & Unresolved
I agree with a previous review that any positive reviews have to be fake. The positive reviews here and on their site have been anything BUT what ours is based on the complete silence and ignoring from Tom and his company. In addition, is it any coincidence their Facebook page is broken?I will say, leading up to the collection of our money, we had ZERO issues getting ahold of Gateway. Literally on the first ring, within 2 min via email, etc. They were on point! They made a ton of promises on the phone, had in writing that things would be double wrapped and protected, the whole works!Flash forward a little bit and after we had already paid them the deposit. Found out the rates they gave us weren't valid and misled what they meant at the time the moving company showed up. These guys are a broker advertising as a moving company!!! This means they offload EVERYTHING off their plates when issues arrive and go completely silent...nothing, nada, no way to reach them (they become ghosts)! Since we needed our stuff and moved, we ended up having to pay almost double the original quote. Then we FINALLY get our stuff 30 -45 days later and there's over $6000 in damage because they didn't wrap or protect the things they said they would. Keep in mind, that was almost as much as the move. On the phone, the rep boasted "FULL INSURANCE!" "YOU'RE COVERED!!"...it was a blatant lie! We were offered a measly $45.00.Do NOT use this company...they are a broker, tell you what you want to hear, mislead you, and the disappear!@Tom, if you see this, please reach out! We are willing to reform our review based on getting the help your company promised and we deserve.

tom is too busy getting fake reviews…
tom is too busy getting fake reviews for his company to actually answer the phone and take responsibility for his salespeople lying to people. better yet the whole company is based on lies.. they make fake reviews, used fake sales tactics (claiming they have trucks in your area already so they can get you a good deal), they lie on their site and when you speak to them about not being movers..they are just a broker. they use scam companies who steal to move you . then they will create a new company to scam from once their current one has a bad reputation.. right now landmark moving and storage is Tom's next company to scam people.

I beg you stay away!!!!
I beg you stay away!!!!On 6/02/2020 We recieved a phone call from Gateway express moving LLC following up with moving estimate. Brandon Smith states that he had guys in the area and that we would get a great deal on a move.(which is apparently a common lie they tell everyone) He quoted us a price 2,024.39 for the entire move from Mobile, Alabama to Colorado Spring Colorado stating that a deposit needed to be made to reserve and that 50% of the price would need to be paid at pick up and the remaining would be paid once our furniture is dropped off. That they were movers through gateway express and would handle our belongings with care. We confirmed this with Brandon multiple times and he agreed that everything would go smoothly and as planned. We paid the deposit which was $742.11 paid on 06/05/2020. Brandon continued to follow up with us over the next couple of days for our scheduled move on 06/12/2020. We spoke multiple times both adding and removing items on our list to help accommodate price. He continued to reassure that it would be 50% at pick up and remaining at drop off. I calculated my funds accordingly because I still had to get my family of 5 to Colorado. Everything seemed great up until the day of the move. The movers arrived and at that's where things took a turn for the worse. The driver from MAPS moving came in along with 2 very young children who were helping him move. One can only assume his kids. One looked to be about maybe 14 or 15 and the other 8 or 9. The driver came in and immediately stated he was rewriting the contract and demanded to that we pay 70% right now. I explained to him that we were only supposed to be paying 50% he began stating it's 70% and when I began to get visibly upset he then started telling me to call gateway express they are the ones who handle it not him. Us still not realizing that he isn't employed through them we called Brandon. Brandon was unavailable and we had to speak with CJ who confirmed we should only be paying 50%. We told him that gateway express was still stating we should only be paying 50% the driver then walked around the corner to call his customer service for MAP moving. A women from maps moving then called our phone. That is when we actually found out that the company was contracted out to MAPS moving! She immediately had a agitated tone. The first words out of her mouth were "Ma'am all we wanna know is do you have the money to pay" that immediately upset me because she cut me off and didn't allow me to even explain what my concerns were. I told her I wanted to pay what was agreed upon, She then proceeded to tell no, me it had to be 70% and they had control over the contract and could do what they want! While she was still on the phone we then began trying to contact gateway express again in which they were no longer answering any lines. A man then got on the phone from MAPS . By this time my wife is on the phone crying. He begins screaming at her " WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO MAAM I DONT CARE ABOUT WHAT YOURE SAYING. Either you're gonna pay the money or not!!!" I told them I would if they honored the 50% he laughed and screamed “Forget it she’s too problematic, we’re not moving her” and they left. they were not able to fulfill their obligation and what was agreed upon. Hours later after trying Multiple number for gateway I got ahold of customer service where she stated she would send someone else the next day and reassured us AGAIN we would only pay 50% because she was getting a company who would honor it. They never called us back to confirm the new movers or a time. They next day the movers showed up without notification and only called once he was there. I told the driver weSomeone on the way. He said he didn't want to wait because he had already been there for an 2 hour. Once some arrived at the house (which was about 30 min he had already left! my neighbor pulled her door cam that showed he had only actually been there about 30 mins and left. After contacting gateway again they stopped answering the phone. We called multiples times everyday, left voicemails, even sent emails requesting a refund due to them not being able honor what they said and we still haven't heard from them since. Also the contract is no longer visible in our email they completely removed it and I can only now see my receipt from the deposit I paid Contract 3787880All they do is lie and prey on ppl who don’t know any better. We ended up having to come back from Colorado pack the house onto a budget truck because it was all we could afford at that point and drive 19 hours back to Colorado.
