As a new customer, I wanted to get a list of all the standing fees we should expect on our account plus transaction fees for ACH and Credit Card transactions. Simple right? I had 2 chats with support agents on the website - neither could help me. The second one said they would have someone reach out that day. 3 days later and despite daily emails to their support@ email address I have had zero response!
Nicolas Cooley took me from absolutely frustrated to educated and confident in just a few short minutes. He listened to my confusion, identified where it was coming from and walked me through steps that lead to complete understanding about the process I was working on. Fortis provides integrated payment processing for a proprietary software we use, designed specifically for small art galleries/craft shops. Anytime we have needed customer service, for instance after a power outage, they have been immediately responsive. Today, I needed help with transferring my business ownership to a new owner who wished to keep the same service. Trent made the process so easy! While the LLC will change and a new bank account will be set up, the dba trade name is included with the purchase, and Trent understood exactly how to handle that to minimize any confusion with staff or with customers getting cc receipts. He took a major potential stressor off my list, was efficient, quick and extremely courteous. I highly recommend this company.
Terrible experience with Fortis. For our storefront, their terminal (Link 2500) is outdated to say the least. The device would freeze or time out and we would have to restart scanning products. In addition, if a client tried to 'tap to pay', clients would get double charged on their cards. Their customer service reps were helpful over the phone. Stopped working with Fortis after 1 month of trying to make it work and another month of closing the account.
Addressing PCI compliance isn't the most intuitive process in the world but Nicolas Cooley was extremely helpful guiding us through the process.
I called Fortis tech support for an issue that required calling an old processor under Fortis. Lily was wonderful throughout the call and helped every step of the way. She even suggested and helped me view 3 of my merchant accounts under a single businesstrack login so I dont have to login under 3 different locations. This will save me a lot of time in the future. Thank you Lily for your creativity and treating my problem as your own.
As our business grew, we needed to increase the limits on our monthly processing volume. Fernando was every helpful in reviewing our financials and setting higher limits for us. Fast and efficient!
Horrible platform, horrible (NO) communication once they lock you in a contract. They'll hit you with large charges well beyond agreed fee, and then you won't be able to reach someone that can explain why or how to have them removed. Find someone else for you CC processing
I reached out to Nicolas Cooley at Fortis to address an issue that had been ongoing for quite some time. Nicolas took the time to fully understand my concerns and worked collaboratively with me to identify the root cause and develop a solution that aligned with both Fortis’s requirements and ours.What began as a phone call quickly transitioned into a Teams meeting so we could review details visually as well as verbally. Throughout the entire process, Nicolas demonstrated exceptional attentiveness and professionalism—I consistently felt heard, supported, and valued. This level of customer engagement is rare and truly sets Nicolas apart.Although resolving the issue took over an hour, it was time well spent, and I’m confident the work Nicolas put in will save us significant time and effort moving forward.
Terrible experience with unexpected fees. Extremely hard to get an answer without being bounced around "departments". Would not recommend for new businesses or for beginners. Initially we didn't sign up to process e-commerce. A few months in when website was up, we decided to try it. My mistake for not realizing that we would needed a whole new merchant account. But the fortis tech guys who helped to integrate the hosted API into my web page were very helpful in getting that working......even though we weren't supposed to process that way. Fast forward 1 yr of our e-commerce working, we get hit with 17,700 fraudulent card tests while we were out of office for Christmas. Get back to thousands of dollars of processing fees for the 17,700 attempts. Suprise suprise, now our monthy account charge didn't process due to insufficient funds. Called fortis within the week to pay the fees, and get told I can't. I have to wait for their collections dept. to contact me. All I want to do is pay what is owed and close my account. Let's see what kind of termination fees they hit me with. I will own my mistakes.....pay what I need to, but don't talk to me and treat me like I'm the criminal. Update: Merchant Account closed on Jan 13. Paid $2,196 on Jan 16 to collections dept. Total due for account. Paid in full. Done. Stop payment instituted on business checking account to prevent further fees from being attempted. Jan 20, personal checking account (not the business checking account tied to merchant account) gets hit with a $2,200 ach transaction from fortis. Called to see what it was for. After numerous tranfers and "we dont know answers", kassi told me that it was for the balance due on account. The balance that had previously been paid via the Fortis collections dept. When I asked if they would refund the $2,200 that had already been paid, I was told to just have my bank issue a stop payment on it. Now we wait.....bank says could take up to 10 days to resolve.
My company is new with Fortis and have reached out to Shea several times with questions regarding chargebacks. Each time, she has been absolutely wonderful—patient, caring, and incredibly knowledgeable. Shea took the time to guide me through the process and consistently went the extra mile to explain everything in detail, making it much easier for me to fully understand how it works. Her customer service is truly exceptional, and you don’t see that level of dedication very often anymore in this industry. Shea is phenomenal at her job and deserves recognition. We have been clients with Fortis for several years. In attempt to save on our fees each month, we switched to a different vendor. After two months, we are returning to Fortis. The portal is much easier to use and has better features that work for our practice.
I have spoke with Shea Drayton about chargeback because in 6 years of service with fortis no one has explained it to us how chargeback works and everything we needs to do to protect merchant from charge the way Shea has. I really appreciate everything she has helped me with and covered all the area that I needs to know. Thank you, Shea!

First time I have been in this type of issue with a large amount that was received as a first payment for a job done to one of our clients. Fernando was very professional and very fast in resolving the issue. I had to reach out to biller genie to figure out how to get the information needed and James was very straight forward guiding me thru the account.
