This started life as a 2 star review

This started life as a 2 star review. We were contacted the day before we were due to collect our car to be told there wasn't a car available, jeopardising the next stage of our holiday. After insisting that this was Enterprise's problem not ours they eventually booked a car from a different company. On our return home from Vancouver Island we wrote to complain. The response from Zach, the regional manager on Vancouver Island has been exemplary and has restored our faith in the company.

best avoided, common themes here.

Very, very poor experience.I am leaving a one star review as zero stars in not an option.Six weeks before the required date, I reserved a car through Enterprise for a two week period, one way rental, starting in Bordeaux, France, and returning the vehicle to Nice, France.All of the hire companies offered similar cars for similar cost for the rental period required but went with Enterprise because of locations for pick up and drop off.Up to this point, I had received several emails confirming the reservation, how to find the Enterprise counter at the station, the usual documentation for these things.We arrived later than the nominated time due to previous flights and connections being late.On arrival at the Enterprise desk at Bordeaux Saint-Jean and presenting the reservation number, I was informed there was no car for me.Inquiring why, I was told I was four hours late and the that the reservation is only held for a period of up to two hours beyond the nominated time.It was bluntly pointed out that it was in the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.I asked for the staff member to point out the specific term to confirm this but other than repeat the same that I was more than two hours late, I got nothing.I asked why I had not received anything to my email or phone number that the reservation had been cancelled, I got the same "you're late".I then asked if there were any other rental options as time was now becoming an issue for onward travel commitments.I was informed there was nothing available.All the while the agent focused on the computer in front of her.The final insult was the token and possibly sarcastic, "have a nice day" as I left the desk area.Once outside, a quick search showed cars in most catagories and price points avaiable for rent from this location on Enterprise's website.A month later and I still have not received anything indicating my reservation has been cancelled.Ended up hiring from a rival company and the experience was very different. The staff member here went out of her way to make sure we could get on the road as soon as possible.A quick look through other reviews indicates others have had similar experiences with this company where cars have been reserved but not delivered.Avoid
