Best Way to Sell a Used Car
Over the past 4 years, I’ve both purchased and sold four cars with Clutch Auto, and every experience has been outstanding. Whether buying or selling, Clutch makes the process incredibly simple and—most importantly—trustworthy. Most recently, I sold my 2018 Honda Accord and received the full agreed amount, with funds deposited into my account just a few hours later (even though it was a Saturday). When it comes to buying or selling a used car, I can’t think of a better company to work with than Clutch.

I’m not expert at all when it comes to selling cars so like anybody else, I hit up the usual CarMax, Carvana, etc…..luckily I saw an ad for Clutch and submitted a quote as well. Instead of an automated message, I actually got a person (Clay) responding via text! I found out they were a local operation and they guarantee to beat CarMax’s quote and within 6 texts, I got a quote for my Toyota Highlander that was higher than CarMax! Everything that followed was just as responsive and efficient as Clay worked after hours to make sure all my questions and concerns were addressed. They even arranged to pick up the car at my house since I was local! Clutch and Clay will be my first contact next time I have a car to sell! Awesome experience and would 100% recommend it to anybody looking to sell.

Completely unprofessional, stay away
I got approached by Clutch representative on Autotrader with multiple offers for my car. Since offer was lower than the one I already had, Clay provided better offer. After I agreed and notified my previous buyer of that, Clay started to enquire about cars condition, scratches and dents. I found it strange, first making an offer and only after that asking for details and informed Clay about that. So he said OK, confirmed his offer amount and agreed to wait for title to arrive from DMV. When title arrived in the mail I immediately informed Clay that I have it and soon after emailed him the documents. Right after that he texted me that they run Carfax report and find out about previous minor accident on the report, so he could no longer keep his offer, instead he proposed much lower offer. What kind of dealership making an offer without checking the car history and inspecting the car? Totally unprofessional. So I informed Clay about me being unhappy with their process and that their unsavory offer cost me a buyer. He told me that they wanted to go back to their original offer, but when I asked if I can have it in writing, came up with excuses that office is closed and they can only send DocuSign when it re-opens on Saturday. (I thought reason electronic documents was that you can send it from anywhere).Needless to say that offer never came, another lie of Clutch representative. To summarize - they will offer you anything to make you loose real buyers and will back down from their words as soon as it's actual time to pay you.PS - nothing was "undisclosed", you had VIN number and could run Carfax or inspect the car at any time before making and offer. You didn't.

My experience with Clutch was ten out of ten. Wasn't sure what to do when I needed to sell my car. I ended up talking to a bunch of local dealers and got lowball offers across the board. A couple of weeks passed and I still couldn't get a fair offer. Submitted my info to Clutch and within thirty minutes an associate called me and gave me the highest offer yet. Communication was seamless and they picked the car up from my work on the day/time most convenient for me that week. Handed me a check on the spot. Will use them again. It was easy, fair and transparent.
