I have been racing at Cartmel since 1970
I have been going to Cartmel races since 1970 and the family have enjoyed many many race days. Thank you Cartmel. However, myself and a friend wanted to go racing only on Friday 27th June 2025 only to be told that it was impossible to separate the racegoers only from the entertainment, and that we would have to pay for the entertainment whether we stayed for it or not. That is disgraceful. Cartmel Racecourse is for racing enthusiasts and family days out racing, not for after racing entertainment. I am furious I cannot attend my racing.

If you purchase an annual membership…
If you purchase an annual membership like I have with my partner and wish to camp on the racecourse there is no function to buy camping only which means you have to buy additional tickets which you do not require which is absolutely ridiculous and the team within the ticket office are clueless..

BBQ’s
24-08-2024We have been attending the race course for over 6 years we always bring are own bbq but this year we were told that the Bbq had to be put out 30min before the first race when did this come into effect? As we have never been asked before regrading not being able to have the bbq on when the horses are running, the explanation given is that it affects the horsesIf this is correct then why can the venders ie pizza hotdogs burgers stalls still operate when racing is on??

I used to visit every year manyYears ago and loved the family atmosphere. Retured this year 2023 with my family and highly disappointed. Fairground average price is £5 per person per ride, how can you justify these prices. We paid for parking only to be told at the end we can't leave as we have to wait for the people whom parked for free to leave and then exit before the people that paid. As for the horse racing loads of non runners and the betting odds are not worth betting on.

Tantamount to fraud
A refund for tickets for an event that Holker / Cartmel Racecourse had to cancel - through no fault of my own - was initially refused. They even had the cheek to write and say "should an alternative [date] be secured then your tickets for this year will still stand – irrespective of your wishes for a refund – for whatever reason". What about the reason of not being able to make the date that you chose to re-schedule for? Completely unreasonable and unacceptable. Had to send email after email (most messages were simply ignored) before they eventually backed down and issued the refund that was owed. It seems I am not alone and many other have had to fight unnecessarily. It's not a good way to treat local people, unless you're goal is to generate lots of bad sentiment within the community.

Having made a genuine mistake in…
Having made a genuine mistake in booking tickets for the August bank holiday fixture 2022 with camping.I inadvertently purchased tickets for the two day meeting not realising it did not include camping. When I realised my mistake I re-booked to include the four night camping package expecting not to have a problem with a refund on my original purchase. Not the case I am afraid!!! Cartmel (Holker group) refused point blank to reimburse my payment of £182.50, (not a small amount) even though it was a genuine mistake on my part, the camping package has cost close to £500, so it is not as if I have changed my mind about visiting Cartmel races, a thing I have wanted to do for many years. Having emailed multi times the sales team seem to refuse to answer my mails. Very poor customer service, 'NO!' 'zero customer service' which has really soured my visit to the course next year. Come on Cartmel, is a refund of £182.50 really going to break the bank of Cavendish. Lot of money to me though!!

Disappointing
I appreciate we have been in lockdown due to COVID-19 but I think it is unacceptable for an accounts department (which would not have been furloughed in full) have failed to response to three requests for refund especially now lockdown has been lifted and racing behind closed doors has resumed. Just disappointing.
