Canton Charter Academy is Profound!
My family and I can't say enough great things about this profound school. We have been apart of CCA for 9 years now. I have three children. One was academically intelligent but struggled with being motivated, another was naturally studious with an indescribable drive and one struggled with reading and comprehension which caused behavioral issues as well. CCA stood in and was there for all three of my little personality types. However, we as parents have to do the same simultaneously. Between allowing parents to volunteer, intervention programs to help students with their course work, teachers that have showed time and time again that they are passionate about their students, digitized platforms to assist parents in working with their students (we were always able to check grades and email teachers from the NHA app)...what more could we truly ask for?! They care, their technology is evolved and was in place prior to the pandemic, they help needed families within the CCA community (we were one of those families at one point) and they are graciously responsive while present. Throughout the course of the 9 years, I have acquired a masters while working full-time and watching our three children evolve in every way imaginable. My oldest who at one point struggled with her motivation is excelling in her third year of college as a Biology major, my second oldest who once struggled with reading now reads better than most adults...she will be graduating from CCA this school year as an athlete of many sports offered at CCA (she sings in the church choir also), and my youngest is still an all A student (2.8 and higher...unique grading scale at CCA) while being in Boy Scouts, chess, and Spanish (they offer languages as an elective or personal activity after hours). The experience at CCA is what we make it. They provide the tools and resources but it is up to us as parents to volunteer, assist and guide our own children. Also, there's a Student-Run Credit Union, amazing electives, money management guidance, fun field trips and support in every way. They are also insured as of the 9 years that we have been apart of the CCA family so when my children injured themselves at the school, medical expenses didn't have to be applied to our coverage. I can't thank God enough for blessing us with the leaders of CCA.

BE CAREFUL
This school is terrible for well rounded kids. They are great on paper... their test scores are amazing... but they greatly lack social skill development. The children are not ever allowed to use their own problem solving skills to remedy a social conflict. An adult is told and consequences are given. The parking lot at pick up is DANGEROUS!!! The parents are so tired of spending hours waiting in that parking lot that they “ROAD RAGE” at each other. A child in my car got hit by another car today. I yelled at the driver and she blamed me because I parked in front of her and she couldn’t pull out as quickly as she wanted to. She ran back to her car at dismissal and tried to speed out of the lot so she wouldn’t have to wait for the pedestrians to cross Ford Rd. She could beat them to the intersection. Unbelievable! The principal walked around the staff parking lot and told families that they were showing “poor moral focus” for having their car there. If there are empty spots in the lot I find it ridiculous to not let parents use them... it makes it quicker and smoother for everyone. Especially if you are turning right onto Ford Rd from the parking lot. Again people are really crazy in the parking lot. There is no working together.... it’s every man/woman for themselves. They really need to have a quicker and smoother traffic flow at pick up. My friends that have kids in other charter schools do not have this problem. Why can’t CCA get it together on this???

An excellent school.
The school focuses not just on education but on overall moral/appropriate behavior. The teachers for the most part are caring and wonderful to work with, and many of them have a long tenure with CCA.

Canton Charter is an excellent school. The staff is dedicated and works hard! I love that the specials teachers are so creative and pull the best out of each child!
I love the Market Day Project that 4th grade is doing! It has thoroughly engaged my daughter and she is motivated to do her best!

Teachers encouragement is not up to the mark
So far our experience with teachers at CCA has not been that great. In 4 yrs of our experience only one teacher (Mrs McGuire) pushed my child to improve her academics. She showed personal interest in my child's academic growth. My child needs constant attention and encouragement. Its a big loss for CCA to lose Mrs McGuire :(
I know that a teachers job is not an easy one taking care of 25+ kids. I wish and hope more push be given as I've seen this degrading over time !

More room to improve
The management and school staffs are continuously working to make the school a better place for the children. I would say my child is happy and is motivated to do well in school. The only concern I have is that they inbreed teachers within the school. As an academy or a nurturing environment, they should always bring in qualified professional from outside. This will open up the doors to more fresh ideas and improvement to anything that needs it.

The good thing about this school is the overall development of child both in academics and extra-curricular activities.
We as parents are very satisfied. Just wished if there was some arrangement of school transportation even if we had to pay to star with...

Canton Charter Academy wa a good choice
This is our 2nd year at Canton Charter. The school has met my expectations for education. My children really like the staff, the peers and enjoy learning. We look forward to growing with the Canton Charter Family.

This school is very organized, structured, and the enviornment is good for learning.
This school is very helpful for my child's acedemic growth, and he has made a bunch of new friends.
The teachers are very nice and the environment sets you up to achieve new hieghts.
The only problem is for dismissal. When the kids are outside, why can't they eat a small snack? They are hungry.

So far this year, things are similar to previous years at the school. The school always rated very high and was considered the best. I'm scared this year it will not rate as high and will not be the best anymore. I've chosen this school for my kids due to its history and I feel it is slightly askew this year.

My son is in college and aspiring to be an Art Teacher and now my daughter is off to High School next year. I like the school. The parking lot thing mentioned here over and over again is not ideal but look I don't blame CCA staff for this, given that there is no extra lane on ford road by school, what else can they do?? To those complaining, have you talked to any CCA staff about this? perhaps you should do that and offer your suggestions on the matter??
My personal experience: I get there at 3:10-3:15 at pickup time and am back on the road with my kid by 3:35, thats 20 min. (never 1.5 hour). Its less time in the morning, maybe 10 min, in & out..

Many concerns with administration
1). The leadership at CCA has recently changed long standing traditions at CCA. This has robbed students of creating important school memories.
2). Teachers get a lunch break only if a parent volunteers. This leaves an untrained parent in charge of nearly 30 students (including some students with severe food allergies).
3). CCA has already lost one valuable member of its teaching staff. Overall teacher satisfaction is more than 30% lower under new administration.
4). Teachers are not getting needed assistance with behaviorally challenging kids.
5) The negative impact of math ability group on student self-esteem outweighs the nonexistent benefit.
6) CCA needs to provide competitive benefits to teachers in order to retain talented staff, including teacher pay and time off.

CCA has very strong teacher team of elementary school. The teachers knew every student in details, weakness and strength. They helped my kids a lot in a professional way. The fifth grader teacher team is deserved a big praise.
