My name is Joshua I.I have also experienced the wrong doings by American Long Distance Moving and Storage, starkly parallel to others experiences. It would be redundant of me to explain the same story others have had. Furthermore, If you're seeking resolution to the financial implications/emotional distress imposed by American Long Distance Moving and Storage, then contact me @ joshuaImholte@gmail dot com. I have been in correspondence with multiple U.S Departments and Attorney Generals, and will be moving forward with a Class-Action Lawsuit.Thank you,
SCAM ALERT ........... FRAUD ALERT........... SCAM ......THEY WILL QUOTE A FALSE PRICE TAKE YOUR “non refundable deposit “ then double your quote!!Already contacted my bank BBB PUC and DOT also made a police report with Oakland park police department..DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE CROOKS AND NOT HONEST!!Can not believe this company is in business still. They took advantage of my mother. Their initial quote was $6000. Their second quote verbally was $8100, then their third quote was $9800. This company changes their quotes and their prices like it’s a thing to do. I will be reporting them to PUC, DOT and BBB because they are stating that they are not refunding us the money from the deposit that my mom left. I was told and I was on the phone today with a gentleman they said we can get a full refund of our deposit if We call 48 hours prior to the move they are declining it and telling us that we will forfeit our $1600 that we gave. This company is a scam stay away from this company.
I normally don't post reviews when everything goes as planned but I gave the guy that got me scheduled (Greg Baker) my word that if everything worked out I would let people know. I hired ALD to move me from Sacremento, CA. to Jacksonville, FL. in October of 2021. I had a few more items than I anticipated but I was still within the space they allotted so there was no additional charge. Good group of guys that packed us up, me and the wife ordered them lunch and insisted they take a break after they had been packing my 3 bedroom house for 3 hours
STAY AWAY. STAY AWAY. STAY AWAY. STAY AWAY. After my daughter gave them her inventory they decided she needed a bigger truck and then they did absolutely NOTHING!!!
Don’t fall into the same trap I did. Find a reputable company to move your goods. It will save you time, money and most of all - Peace of Mind.I called this company in July 2021 to book a cross country move from CA to FL. I paid the deposit and was given a 3 day window of August 15-17 for the pick-up. They didn’t show and each time I called they said it would be the next day. I finally had to arrange to move my property to another location as I had sold my house and needed to vacate. On September 17th they finally picked up my goods, charging an additional amount of course. The photo is of truck that showed up. It is now November 22nd and they still have not delivered my stuff. Every time I call I get an excuse; no trucks coming to my area, truck broke down and will take 2 weeks to repair, no drivers, busy moving time, they have 30 days to deliver, it will be within the next 10 days, it is safe and under security in their storage facility etc. I’ve been told my stuff is in CA and in TN.Last week (November 19) they told me they were loading up this last weekend and I would get delivery this week. When I called for an update today, November 22, I was told it would be within 10 days. They tell me I have to call the carrier which goes straight to voicemail and I never receive a call back. Texts do not get answered. I can’t even get the location of my property so if I wanted to get it myself, I couldn’t.I have bought a house in FL but can’t even move in as I don’t have my furniture. I don’t have my clothes so am having to purchase more clothes since the weather has changed.I plan on filing a lawsuit against this company and if anyone is interested I will also begin a class action lawsuit to get your money back and payment for damaged goods. This company is a scam and doesn’t deserve to be in business.Pat F.
Do not use this company, they will ruin your life! They will take your deposit. Then they will double your price. Do not under any circumstances wire transfere money to them, you will never see it again. The salesman lied to me about every single thing. The driver will not show up, they will call you everyday and tell you there coming, they never show up. They will then when they do show up tell you that you have to pay shuttle charges, never discussed. They will not let you use a credit card so your protected. Any review you see for them that is positive is canned and made by a robot they pay for that service. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE, YOU WILL REGRET EVER TALKING TO THEM!
We experienced a typical bait-and switch scenario. The price was more than tripled ($2600 to $8700) from the initial quote and services were delayed and storage was not rendered. Items were damaged and one item is missing. No answer back as of today. Plus additional cost of $275 we had to pay to our home buyers to extend our stay for the delay.
Please if you never take advice again DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Picked up my 91 year old Dads belongings in Texas moving to Tennessee on October 5th with the promise his belongings would be there by Friday of the same week! Dad still doesn't have it and they don't know when he will!!
Hi all. I will never recommend trusting on this company and scheduling any service with them. They are the worst I will say. You will not have your stuff moved in time and receive on time. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING WITH THEM.I am sharing my story with you all so that you do not fall into trouble as we did. I want to share my experience with this company in short with you.May 12th 2021, I had made my booking with American Ling distance moving and storage as I had to move to Austin from LA.I had paid all my deposit and per our agreement the movers were supposed to come and pick up our stuff on July 22nd and/ or 23rd latest. We were going to leave for Austin the next day that is July 24th and had a good road trip planned.Week of 12th of July we started calling them to follow up to check if the pick up way on time as we never got a call from them to confirm their arrival time. We never got any responses to our calls. On July 22nd, we got a call from them at 3.30 pm PST that they were not able to come the day as planned. It was a shocker for us as we were not understanding how we were supposed to move ahead. The reason they gave was that their truck broke down and could not make it the next day( which was so unclear to us as we expected them to make an arrangement for the next day like a back up plan thinking how they can just let their customers get stuck due to no contingency plan from their end)I couldn't catch the name of the lady I spoke to but we requested Her to try to book something for the next day 23rd at least as we had a 2 day tentative pickup. But they had no arrangements for us and were not helping us out in any way.In fact out of no where she recommended us to cancel our booking and go with some other company. Now at this point if we opted for another company that would be so expensive for us and the amount others were offering us for a next day pickup was way higher than our budget. My wife called them again to request them to make some arrangements for us as we were counting on them to be on time. She spoke to a man named "Sam", she explained him the entire situation and requested him to talk to the manager so that is the customer service wears unable to help, we could possibly speak to the manager as we were on a schedule as our apartment lease deadline was on 25th July and if before that our stuff was not taken out we had no place to keep our stuff. Sam was not coorpertaive and when asked to put us on. Ahold to talk to the manager he literally without us completely our sentence switched the called and out us on the waiting line, we waiting for 50 minutes to talk to the manager but we're not able to make it through and had to hang up at the end. In a panicked situation we called them back again. This time we spoke to Britney, we explained her the situation and what she had to at was that their company is not responsible for when the truck will arrive. I don't understand if we are making all the payments and spoke to them way before the actual pickup date there is no help from them
This industry seems to have a lot of shady companies PLEASE DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE and DON'T MAKE A QUICK DECISION. Look the company up on BBB... Trustpilot was a great resource... and a simple Google search can uncover a lot!I hope our experience helps others.OUR EXPERIENCE: My husband entered an online quote request and we started getting calls from different "movers" within 30 minutes. American Long Distance Moving & Storage was first. The person was very professional. Asked very detailed questions. Gave me a quote that was lower than I expected (a pleasant surprise). Explained everything. Seemed great! But wanted me to sign a binding agreement right then. Unfortunately (and thankfully) my husband wasn't home so he agreed to hold the pricing for 2 hours.Within minutes of hanging up, I get a call from "Tony from Mayflower" on my cell. "Hi [my name]. I got the request for your move on the 26th..." he did a quick search and didn't have any trucks that would be in the area but could get us a truck for around $5,000... "Okay," I replied. Then he asked if I had received quotes from anyone else and how did that compare. Hmmm... Yes, actually I had received another quote and it was lower. Can I ask who from and how much, he says. I said American and about $3,500. "American Long Distance Moving & Storage I hope." "Yes." "They're one of our biggest competitors and that's a really good price. If I were you I'd call them back and lock that rate in." "Yeah, I thought you might say that," I responded. And then I asked how he got my name and phone number. He said I filled out a form online and came in as a lead. But here's the thing... I didn't. My husband put our home phone number and his name on the online form. I gave my name and cell number to the American Long Distance Moving & Storage agent because my husband wasn't home and realizing that once we moved the home phone would no longer be valid. There was no other connection to my name, my cell number, and moving except the info I just gave the American Long Distance Moving & Storage agent.I am so grateful for that stupid call... I was sold. I would have discussed w/my husband when he got home and we would have signed up. But instead I became suspicious, mad (and a little freaked out) and immediately got online and started researching American Long Distance Moving & Storage. I found way more negative experiences than positive experiences. Then I started reading the binding agreement closely... it had baby items on the Articles List (we don't have kids.) The agent sign-off on the paperwork didn't match his phone line message. Obviously I didn't sign with these guys - but way too much didn't add up. Again, I'm just hoping sharing our experience helps others. Please just be careful... research... get multiple quotes... and read all the fine print so you understand what you're agreeing to. Good luck! Also, most of the "moving" companies that answer online quote requests are brokers and if they're not good brokers, you'll end up with bad trucking companies, which can mean missed schedules, damaged cargo, etc.
If you want someone to actually move you and not steal your money, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! Check BBB before you even talk to anyone here. They want you to wire a deposit so they can get your money and then not provide the service. A wire cannot be recovered, works the same as cash. Do not be fooled by the "positive reviews" on the internet. I have filed a police report against this company for theft and failure to render service. They are thieves and this is a moving scam. I was scheduled to move on 9/25, no one showed and no one called. I have since been dealing with this sorry "company" trying to get my money back since they have not fulfilled the contract. THEY ALL LIE! From the sales person Paris, to Sam, Holly, Melanie, and Jordan; all LIARS. They will be so nice up front, tell you what you want to hear, promise to have movers on time, BUT then they do not follow through. I have been told they can't get a truck, we are still working on this with dispatch, your area is hard to get a truck to, there are unforeseen delays, we haven't heard back from dispatch, etc....This has been going on since 9/25. They now avoid my calls, send me to other's vms or leave me on hold and never come back on the line. This past Friday they had some random, third party moving company call me saying he was on the way to move my stuff. NO ONE with American ever called to confirm this day or time with me. My original move date timeframe was the 24th to the 27th. Out of state moves are not easy to reschedule, so them cancelling on me and not showing screwed with my finances and my life. It was after 4pm on a Friday while I was working when this random person called. A company cannot do this to someone. No notice, no call from American. The "mover" they had call me is not who I booked my move with. I don't know this apparent "company" or if the person was trustworthy, has insurance, nothing. They deliberately scheduled this without confirming with me so they can later say "We tried to schedule her move. We had someone available." This is part of the scam. Who can just and move without notice or confirmation from the company FIRST, verifying with the me, the customer, that this day and time works. These "people" are the most horrible, lying, pieces of trash I have ever dealt with. They prey on people's hard earned money to make their living. Reach out to me on here if you want more information. I am happy to provide anything and everything that will save someone else from going the hell I am going through.
SCAM. DO NOT GIVE MONEY.They will take your money and no one will show up.
RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS SCAM OPERATION. All of their reviews are vague because they are fake. This company is actually NOT a mover or a shipper. They are scam salespeople working out of a well oiled call center in a small Florida office. They sub moving work out to whoever they can find. Most of the time they actually STEAL your money by being a no-show (like with me) or increase the price dramatically after signing. Listen carefully, I hired attorneys and HERE IS THE SECRET TO WHY THEY ARE NOT IN JAIL. They refuse to accept credit cards which have legal recourse and consumer protections, instead they DEMAND A WIRE TRANSFER. When you do that, the FDIC and other banking laws take affect that give you ZERO RECOURSE for a refund. My bank admitted they were running a fraudulent operation and said there is NOTHING they or anyone can do after you wire them money. DID YOU FOLLOW THAT? They found a legal loophole that allows them to STEAL your money and face NO consequences!! If they did it with cash, checks, or credit cards, they would all be in jail, but the direct bank wire process has a wormhole and these crooks figured out how to exploit it. I am in the process of establishing a Class Action Lawsuit with a Florida law firm that specializes in that area. Also, you cannot comment on this site unless you give at least one star, which is stupid. They deserve NONE and if you read this and are dumb enough to use them, then you deserve to lose all your money. BTW, those review and ranking sites you read that listed them by name as credible and trustworthy, are actually CREATED AND WRTTEN BY THEM. They owe me $1,620.00 and of it's not paid back by 10/15/21, my lawsuit begins it's filing stage. The firm took it pro-bona after seeing the truth and finding the owners identity and their substantial assets. Many hidden and disguised but were uncovered through RICO and FOIA. PS. It took my attorneys 2 weeks, because of various fronts, but I learned who the owners are behind this "business "and where they live. They will release the info publicly once filing the case and when they try to find other victims to be plaintiffs in the class action case. Stay tuned.
This company has taken my money and is two weeks past my pick up date. They have not communicated nor given me a legitimate pick up date. Everyday costs me and my business money. I fear that I have been robbed. This company is not to be trusted. I do NOT recommend choosing this company for your move.
Scammers, used bot reviews, all they do is steal money from people. This is a obvious scam and I’m surprised that people actually try to move with these scammers. Ngl tho their phone service employees kinda nice tho they do a good job of scamming I guess 💀💀 too bad we taking em to court 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Terrible experience would never use this company again. They showed up 3 days late then wanted to charge an extra $2500 to a $2076 quote when the cubic feet amount of the shipment was nowhere near more than double the estimate. They then refused to take what we wanted and left keeping my deposit. Terrible customer service as well !!! It was a bait and switch as the subcontractor they hired were terrible to deal with and just wanted more money when they showed up.
We originally signed a “Binding Estimate” with Paris from American Long Distance Moving and Storage (Job No A4355128) on 4/18/21 for our move from Houston to Jacksonville on 7/03/21, with the promise of delivery on 7/05/21. We had not realized American Long Distance Moving and Storage was a broker and had contracted Tx Moving and Storage for our move. Tx Moving and Storage arrived 7/03/21 on time to load our belongings in an unmarked van and told us everything (including our SleepNumber bed) needed to be packed in cardboard boxes. Our clothes were wrapped in garbage bags so I ran to Lowes and spent $167.67 on large boxes. After repacking our belongings, TX Moving and Storage informed us we were over our cubic feet allotment and the price would increase from $2,199 to $4,137.55, nearly double the quoted rate. Additionally, we were then informed our belongings would not be arriving in 3 days on 7/05/21 (as stated in our American Long Distance Moving and Storage contract). Instead they could take up to 3 weeks (21 days) to arrive. I attempted to reach American Long Distance Moving and Storage but they were closed due to it being the Fourth of July weekend. This put us in a difficult situation as we needed to move that day and could not find another company to work with on short notice on a holiday weekend. We were also told we would lose our $1407.72 deposit if we went with another company. Against our better judgement we signed the Tx Moving and Storage paperwork and again repacked our belongings to try to find items we would need during the next three weeks. Having not heard from TX Moving and Storage after 21 days, we were told we were misinformed and they meant 21 BUSINESS days (not stated in contract). After 21 business days passed, they said they had 30 business days. It has now (8/15/21) been more than six weeks (43 days) without our belongings. We have been forced to sleep on an air mattress and have had to repurchase countless essential items to get by. Attempts to contact with Tx Moving and Storage over the last 12 days have been unsuccessful; they have not answered the phone - having called nearly every half hour - nor responded to emails sent to 4 different email addresses. American Long Distance Moving and Storage states they are also unable to reach TX Moving and Storage and would only “escalate” the situation after 30 business days. I would like other customers to be aware that you will never talk to Paris after you sign the contract, no matter how many times you call, text or email him begging for help. We received a text message at 12:11am 8/16/21 from the main Tx Moving and Storage number telling us to call another number for Miguel. We called Miguel and he stated our belongings would be loaded that evening. I received text messages of pictures of our items to see whether they belonged with our load or not. The following day we received a call from the driver letting us know he would arrive that evening 8/17/21. I inquired about payment and he stated they only accepted cash. I was confused because everywhere on the contract listed cash or Post Office Money Order were accepted. I was very skeptical of giving this company cash with all of the problems we have had up until this point. It was then we learned that Tx Moving and Storage was not delivering our belongings, they had hired Miki Movers out of Miami to deliver. Simone from Miki Movers was very kind, knowledgeable, and worked fast. There was only one person delivering so my husband had to help carry our heavy furniture. The boxes were very damaged but luckily nothing was harmed and we received most of our belongings, a miracle after 45 days.We hope no one else gets stuck working with this company like we had to. Please use this review as a warning. If the prices seem cheap up front for a reason, you will pay for it later with the doubled rate upon pick up, and the cost of repurchasing your belongings when your stuff does not come for a month and a half. Please use an actual company instead of a broker where you can read the reviews of the company that handles your belongings. I have noticed that bad reviews disappear so I would like to reiterate that my job number was A4355128 going from Houston on 7/03/21 and delivered to Jacksonville on 8/17/21.
My daughter in Illinois wanted to move home to Texas after her boyfriend died in April, so I volunteered to help her. Boy, did I make a huge mistake! I contacted American Long Distance Moving and Storage at the end of May to obtain a quote. She was only moving a few items that she couldn't part with, like pieces of furniture that her boyfriend had made, which had a great deal of sentimental value. I was given a quote of $1658.85, with an initial deposit of $588.84 to secure the moving date of July 29, as she had to be out of her apartment by July 31. The next payment would be when the items were picked up by the actual movers, and the last payment would be due at time of delivery. That seemed fair. This company would only accept an electronic funds withdrawal from my checking account, which seemed very odd, but I went along with it. I was told when the movers showed up, they would only accept a money order, which was an inconvenience for me. I should have trusted my instinct. Why don't they accept credit cards? Then I had to sign the "binding moving estimate" electronically from my phone. Why was it called an estimate, rather than a contract, and why was it "binding"? Red flags, which I ignored. Then I flew to Illinois on July 17 to help my daughter pack, donate, and dispose of things. We actually had fewer things than what were listed on the estimate, so I emailed the company an updated list, but they never responded. And they wouldn't tell me the name of the moving company they had enlisted. On Sunday, July 25, they called to say they couldn't find anyone "who wanted to work" unless I paid an additional $500! This call supposedly came from American Long Distance, but when I called them back at the number they called me on, they answered the phone "Independence Van Lines". I talked to the same lady at both companies! Again strange, but I didn't want to believe they were scamming me. She got her manager to agree to $400. I had actually talked to her a few weeks earlier when I called American to ask them not to use Independence Van Lines, as they had been harassing me with voicemails (even though I had blocked their number) to recruit them as my mover. When they sent me an email, I called them to ask them to STOP. The man was very rude, and then told me to reply back that "I found another mover", so I did so. Now I believe they are part of the same scam operation. They had me over a barrel, either pay an additional $400, or lose the $600 I had already paid, so I angrily consented, after telling her that I was going to report this to the Better Business Bureau. She seemed unconcerned, and didn't even apologize. We called American on the 28th, since we hadn't heard anything from ANYONE about the move the following day. They were supposed to call 24 hours in advance, with a two hour window of delivery. We were told they would call Dispatch and get back with us, but they never did. We kept calling, and they told us the movers had until July 31 to show up. The move was requested for the 29th, as she had to be out by the 31, and we needed time to clean the place. They told us the movers would be there on the 30th, or at 7:00 AM on the 31, at the latest. Then something told me to click on my "revised" estimate again, and it had disappeared, replaced by small letters that just read "Thank you for your move of July 29"! Obviously, I didn't move on the 29th, so when I mentioned this to the agent, she just claimed it was a "system error" and not to worry about it. Well, THEY NEVER SHOWED UP at all, and I now believe they had never even secured a mover for us! When we tried calling them as soon as they opened on the 31, they wouldn't take our calls, as they could tell who we were by our phone numbers, so the call went immediately to music, saying all agents were busy. My grandson kept telling me I had been scammed, and I finally had to agree. He rented a truck, and moved her things to his house, as the apartment had already been rented, so we had to vacate immediately. While her son was driving the truck to his house for storage, we had to get a ride to the airport, with only about 45 minutes to spare! Now she is in Texas, with only the clothes in her duffle bag, to begin her new life. And now I will have to arrange for yet another move! My bank refunded my deposit, God bless them, and I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and Better Business Bureau. This company needs to be PROSECUTED and SHUT DOWN!
Yep. Me, too. I fell for it. I was all set to move using U-Box storage containers when a moving quote came across my phone from American Long Distance Moving & Storage. Interest piqued, I called them back and after some reticence on my part, I was finally given a “military discount,” which was equal to the amount I intended to pay for the U-Box storage containers. Great!—“just stay on the line,” said Amy (customer service) “so we can get your checking account and routing numbers for a 50% deposit. And, btw, here’s my direct number. Text me anytime, and if I can’t respond, I’ll have someone else get back to you.”Ha! Texted her, never heard back. Finally, six days before my move, I heard from Michael (quality assurance) who, after plugging my moving list into a computer, up’s the price of the move by $3800 based on the inaccurate list put together by Amy—bringing my total to way over what I would’ve paid for the U-Box storage containers. (Incidentally, this company appears to charge by item rather than weight.) Fine, I’d like to cancel.“Okay,” says Michael, “you’ll forfeit your entire deposit. What?! Okay, how much of my furniture will you ship for the $2000 you’ve already taken from me?“Oh, no, ma’am. It doesn’t work like that. It’s all or nothing,” he says. Fine, I’ll try to whittle down my furniture. But, I never heard from Micheal again. So, two days before my move, I finally realized this company really couldn’t be trusted. I made the difficult decision to chalk this whole thing up as an expensive mistake. I called the the customer service line to talk them to cancel the truck, after which I was kept on the line again with all sorts of attempts to retain my business, none-of-which included refunding my money. So, there it is. If you want to move forward with this company, I highly suggest you refuse direct payment from your checking or savings account. Because, if something goes wrong, you’ll never get your money back.
