Ethical and Professional Violations by Yoga Alliance Against International Members

I have been an active and fully paid Yoga Alliance member for years (E-RYT 200 / RYS 200).Twice in five years, my profile has been removed from the public directory without notice, damaging my reputation and work credibility.Yoga Alliance no longer responds to emails, has disabled phone lines, and ignores members outside the U.S. — while continuing to charge full membership fees. This organization has lost integrity and transparency.International teachers deserve equal treatment and professional support. As a long-standing and fully accredited member of Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 200 / RYS 200), I have paid all dues, followed every regulation, and upheld the highest ethical standards of teaching.I am also a Doctoral Researcher in Philosophy of Medicine, with degrees in Philosophy (B.A. & M.A.), Cultural Theory and Communication (M.A.), and Nursing & Medical Sciences (B.A. & M.A.).Despite my compliance and contribution to the global yoga community, my professional profile has been erased — twice in five years — without explanation. What @YogaAlliance is doing stands against the very essence of yoga: unity, truth, compassion, and integrity. This organization has turned into a profit-driven mechanism that silences international teachers, ignores non-U.S. members, and leaves ethical principles behind.I call for transparency, accountability, and a full review of their practices by regulatory bodies.Teachers facing similar discrimination — contact me directly: Dr. (cand.) Samuel Manley

Samuel Manley, who is a member of Yoga Alliance was accused drugging and SA'ing a young colleague before he quickly left his employer, Barnard Marcus (he is also an estate agent) in August 23. A disgraceful man who has a lot to answer for. I informed YA but no action taken, he is a danger to females and should not have access to women in these intimate classes. Please YA stop facilitating this access.

Yoga Alliance does not believe women- BE WARE. I filed a complaint about an instructor affiliated with YA after he touched me inappropriately. The yoga studio promptly fired him after I went to mgmt and owner about said incident. However, YA renewed his membership AFTER my reporting him, I've subsequently inquired about his renewal.

I signed up for an online yoga teacher…

I signed up for an online yoga teacher training which was Yoga Alliance certified. The training was by no means up to Yoga Alliance's purported standards for online trainings, so I reported the school and Yoga Alliance "began looking into it", supposedly. There were several other students who had already contacted Yoga Alliance regarding this online "school" (Yogamu). It became clear after a few months of emailing back and forth and talking on the phone and sending pages and pages of evidence that neither Yoga Alliance nor Yogamu was going to do anything to make the course meet YA's "standards". So that was disappointing enough. But then when the founder of the YA-accredited "yoga school" got upset and lost his cool over me bringing these (and several other) issues up, he suggested that I leave the school because of my race, of all things. I sent screenshots of that to YA as well. Still, nothing was done. The school is still misleading students and saying offensive things and/or gaslighting and attempting to humiliate students who speak up. Things have actually gotten worse since Yoga Alliance got involved, because now it seems that Yogamu has tested the waters and is aware that they can get away with anything and still keep their YA endorsement as long as they keep paying the fees. I used to think that Yoga Alliance was like the gold standard or something, but a school being YA-accredited really means nothing (other than the school pays Yoga Alliance a few hundred dollars every year). Unfortunately, it seems that you can no longer take the YA stamp of approval seriously when looking for a Yoga Teacher or Yoga Teacher Training.I used to have very high regard for Yoga Alliance, but I am absolutely disgusted with their business after this situation. I really wish they would have told me that they don't actually do what they claim to do, because then I wouldn't have wasted so much time on this matter. But I guess telling me that from the get-go would involve honesty, and that just doesn't seem to be where they're at right now.I will never register myself as a teacher through YA, and I have had no problem finding students without that endorsement. Maybe it's a good thing that I figured out how useless YA is before I'd spent years paying unnecessary annual tithes into it. This business really doesn't seem to have a proper place in the world of yoga. Stay away if you can.
