VRBO a NO GO!
Everthing about this experience was wrong. The platform is difficult to navigate. Hard to see what your guest is paying and what $$ you will be receiving. Took them almost 60 days to send my payout. Customer Service is a call center in Indonesia with agents using scripted replies and offering no resolution except to send it to management team. Mgmt. team does not follow up. Unacceptable delay and very poor customer service

I cannot get paid.
I cannot get paid for two bookings over almost 8 weeks since the first booking departed. Second booking still not paid and they left a month ago.Ringing help line is hopeless.They promise to escalate and promised to e mail but nothing. I have sent them all my bank statements but still nothing. I am doing all the chasing. They dont care. They have my money but won't pass it on. Legal steps next.

My singular experience with VRBO
My singular experience with VRBO was how I paid more in a security deposit then for the three days of my stay at Rosemary Beach, Florida. To add salt to the wound, it took nearly 3 weeks to get my security deposit refunded. Not a positive experience!

VRBO Sucks As a post with 6 properties they literally deactivated my account because of 2 cancellations i had to do within a 1 year time. Told me i was deactivated!Oh well Airbnb will get all of my business now.

Horrible. I cancelled within the cancellation window. VRBO returned their fee ($173); but the balance of the $1752 reservation is somehow to be refunded by the host. I did not consent to by credit card information being given to an external company to be billed. It has been months and no return of funds. VRBO is taking no responsibility. Beware.

VRBO destroyed our vacation !
We booked with VRBO in July 2025, VRBO cancelled my trip 2 weeks before the date, we received 2 mails, one saying our accommodation is cancelled the second we will get a refund in up to 10days!No explanation, no alternatives meeting their own criteria offered and no empathy to the 8 guests they have upset. Really disappointed!

I would give it zero stars if I could. Th support for hosts is absolutely terrible. I was now one hour on nthe phone for an agent to help me log in. The first agent had no idea and after half an hour told me he was at the guest's support, not the host support and would transfer me to the host support, then we got disconnected. Only on the third call after an hour I was able to get help. On the mail the guest received about a refund of €176 that I sent it said 176 British pounds. On the Vrbo app, when I tried to refund €176 it always printed €17.600. Nothing works at this site and the support is really terrible. I have had so many negative experiences with them. It is really sooooo frustrating.

Very poor customer service
Vrbo listed a property that was not available for a holiday rental. Unfortunately we only found this out when we went to pick up the keys on the day. Scrambling to get new accommodation was stressful. I had to call an international number to talk to someone where they kept me on the phone for at least 30 min before I had to end the call due to the high cost. No apologies from them. They did refund the cost of the property we couldn’t stay at but have ignored my subsequent emails to follow up on reimbursement promised to me of the new accommodation we had to rent. I will not be using this platform again. Very disappointing

Customer service is not helpful at all they give you the run around and cancellation fees are for everything no matter the reason of tbe cancellation. Do not list your property with them

Make the app work. Not possible to create an account or log in using Google or Facebook. Terrible experience, unable to respond to the property owner following a confirmed booking so they cancelled my booking. Telephone number given to me to contact the owner was not in use. Absolutely useless company.

BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE.
I could write a book on the horror stories as a property manager using VRBO.In a nutshell, VRBO do not care about guests or owners/managers. Their only priority is on how they can generate more profit for them with practices that in a sane world would be illegal. My latest gripe resulted from a property I added last May. It only took them 9 months to send my first request as an "INSTANT BOOKING". It was a booking I could not accept. The reason, no matter how justifiable do not matter to VRBO.As the property had been added by VRBO as an Instant Booking listing, by them and with no knowledge to me that this was the case, they are now looking to fine me $692. Their practice of initiating new listings as "Instant Booking" with zero advice to the owner/manager surely has to be a form of fraudulent entrapment? You only get to learn of this, once they send you a booking. God help you if you need to cancel because VRBO will not listen, they'll just deduct their chosen fine amount from the next payment they send.Where are th enforcement agencies on addressing scams like this that VRBO use?

i list on this platform, the customer service is the worst i have ever seen.............i cancelled a booking , the booker didn't mind...........because i double booked by accident, then vrbo suspended my account without any notification!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i only found out a month later by accident after i was curious why i wasn't getting any bookings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Avoid Vrbo. They offer no solutions for problems. They refuse to post negative reviews. The travel protection they offer is a total scam and waste of money, it’s complete fraud and has been reported as such.

I would give a negative review if I could. I made a location inquiry that somehow led to the property becoming booked. I did not receive a notification until it was too close to the travel dates to get any refund. I had also purchased insurance from Europ vacation which was a complete waste as they wrongly claimed that my injury was a re-occurring situation. So my nearly $2000 with VRBO is now something that I need to see if I can still get credited back to my card from VISA. I do not recommend this company to anyone as their inquiry system requires you to leave your credit card and fill out a form and clearly they cannot be trusted.

I have been dealing with a guy called Cristian in the VRBO support team regarding a cancellation fee.He does not read my messages properly, sends back cut/paste replies and is even patronising.I have 80 properties with vrbo. Incorrectly charged my ca $929!
VRBO incorrectly charged my card $929.20 on 2 places that don't even exist (apparently a website glitch on their end due to an update, and they admitted their error) and I still haven't been able to book a place. They told me I will get it refunded back on my card in 5-7 business days, (why does it take that long when it doesn't take other companies that long!) while they still expect me to book a place and put even MORE money on my card. Zero empathy for my situation, zero compensation and offered zero solutions, other than brushing me off and pushing and pushing me to book a place. UNREAL!

Appalling customer service experience
I wish I didn't have to give a star!! I made a reservation on 28 October and full payment was taken from my credit card. On 24 December (Christmas Eve) my accommodation in New York was cancelled as the owner had never received my booking request and thus had double booked the property. Vrbo initially offered compensation for the out-of-pocket expenses and the inconvenience of having to book alternate accommodation for myself and my children at late notice for Christmas while I waited for the owner/vrbo to refund the original charges. Despite this offer being initiated by vrbo, and after several hours communicating with representatives via the chat function, I received an email saying that they would not pay any of the aforementioned compensation. After expressing my dissatisfaction I was offered a goodwill amount of $200 (considerably less than I incurred on NY accommodation) in late January. Another month passed and after receiving no response to my follow-up emails, I reached out via their chat function to now be told that no action has been taken to request this payment and that - despite the earlier offer - it would now be added to my vrbo wallet rather than being paid to the credit card used for my original booking. I am appalled by the behaviour of vrbo and would strongly recommend that you avoid using this company.

Poor site values
Having booked a villa in Lanzarote for my family and having read good reviews and looked at the photos on the site, I was absolutely appalled to find the villa was filthy and very run down. The listing did say there was no air con and as we were travelling in February, I felt that would be ok as temps wouldn't be so high. The window frames had black spores growing, the condensation was horrendous as there was zero ventilation/extraction. The walls, skirtings and door were dirty and obviously hadn't been cleaned in what looked like years. Apparently VRBO do not check the properties before listing them on their site!We paid a lot of money for this villa and we're stranded with 3 children. I am disappointed, enraged and actually shocked that VRBO have such slack policies and there's no accountability from villa owners who use their site. I got no satisfaction whatsoever when making a complaint on my return home. I've asked for updates but I was abruptly cut off when given a reference number. I have no idea if this is even something that will be followed up as I've had no response yet. I won't use VRBO again.
