Run Far Away from Sunrun
Literally everything about Sunrun is the worst. Their sales rep lied to us from the start about how long the process would take, to get us to sign up. Their activation specialist and project manager don't do anything to move your project along at all: they don't visit the site, they aren't proactive with the cities for permit issues, they just sit at home and email every few weeks. They don't communicate with you for months at a time about what is happening. Their incompetence makes you go to the city yourself to try to move the project along. Then, when you complain, their bosses are extremely arrogant, condescending, and rude to you. I will be holding a 25 year grudge against this company and will be quitting working with them the day our plan runs out, we just don't have the money to cancel early right now otherwise I would do that. I strongly recommend anyone that sees this to never work with Sunrun and find any other company to go through for solar. Most companies don't care about their customers anymore, but this company is the king of doesn't care about their customers. I will never have a worse customer service experience with any other company, there's no chance.

Do not use sunrun for solar services. They do not honor the terms of their warranty. They destroyed my roof with a faulty installation and are fighting every step of the way to compensate me. They have continuously lied about pre-existing damage that was never mentioned at the pre installation site survey. Their customer service reps will ignore all communication for weeks at a time. Complete scam artists who will not give a shit about you the second you sign a contract.

I have been waiting over 7 months for Sunrun to come out and fix the problem with my original system installation. Meanwhile, I am now being double-charged by Sunrun and Duke because the system is not producing the amount originally promised. Customer service is horrible! Everybody blames each other, and nothing ever gets resolved. I am still waiting for a supposed escalated ticket from upper management to address the ineffectiveness of our system after 3 runarounds. I would NOT recommend this company at all!!!

Customer service run a around. Have a battery problem. They have sent people out 4 times. Each time tech informs me that battery will fault again, and battery manufacturer will not authorize replacement. People at Sunrun give me the runaround. Very, very dissatisfied. Do not to business with them. Perhaps someone with the ability to resolve this mess will provide contact information.

⚠️ Consumer Warning: Do NOT Do Business with Sunrun Solar PanelsI am sharing my experience to warn other homeowners before they make the mistake I did by doing business with Sunrun Solar.Sunrun sales representatives approached me with promises of major energy savings and presented their solar program as a smart, low-risk decision. Based on what was explained to me at the time, I believed the system would lower my monthly costs and be beneficial long-term.That was not the reality.After installation, I discovered that:• The savings were not as represented• Key financial and performance details were not clearly explained• I later realized the agreement was far more restrictive than presentedWhen I raised concerns and requested that the solar panels be removed from my property, Sunrun refused. Despite the system not meeting expectations and the sales process being misleading, they would not remove the panels from my roof.I now feel trapped in a contract that I would never have agreed to if the full truth had been disclosed upfront. This is the worst run company I have ever encountered. I have paid over $1,300 in electricity charges in the past 4 years and I haven't had one solar panel on my roof in that time. I did a reconstruction of my roof and in 4 years they still haven't redesigned my system. They have even sent guys over to re-install my panels and when they showed up they realized the plans they have don't match my house, and better yet they didn't even have the panels to put up as they thought they were sitting in my backyard. The company is garbage and I can't get anyone to make any progress on redesigning my systems nor refund me my $1,300+ that I have paid. Customer service is horrible as I was just told that in the time I explained my case she could have sent me over to technical support because I explained how I didn't want to be hold for another 1/2 hour. The most inept, poorly run company I have ever encountered. It is almost comical what a piece of s**t this company is.

Honestly not sure where to start but to cut it short you should def keep moving along as from day one it has been quite the conniving ride.1st sunrun will do anything and everything to lock you in to a contract instead of selling you a system straight up. Everything from scare tactics; i highly doubt my system was $95k AFTER rebate.Another issue is that they lie when they sell things like batteries. You do NOT want a battery with sunrun. Contrary to what they will tell you (aka its going to save you $$) they lock them in useless standby mode. You are also expected to maintain wireless devices on your own wireless system while being denied access to them. Magic?How about not following agreed and signed plans on where these things are installed. This system went from taking a small corner to the entire side of my house on the opposite side of agreed plans.They also lie with paperwork, telling you it’s something just to fet things going when it is in fact the full blown contract.And the final and most important is that once this is installed there is no more sunrun. Literally impossible for anything that would appear as service. There is none completely. Never seen anything like it to be honest.So it closing all i can offer is the advice to take your $$ elsewhere.

I was told my panels would be up and running months before winter and they were not so now instead I have to pay close to $1000 in electric bills. There’s damage to my ceilings from the roof being installed and nobody fixed it deposit the water build up that I came home to. I had to take work off because something happened to my heat when they put in a panel. Whenever I emailed it would take weeks to get an answer if I ever did. I was told to talk to national grid about the delay and they said they did their part in august and my panels are now officially on at the end of December and never got an answer for that. I’m hoping the panels are worth it because right now I’m beyond frustrated. I was also told I wouldn’t get a bill for six months and that was a lie.

All the five star reviews that you see must have been written by people that have stock in Sunrun people you see they have no 2,3 or four star reviews.That is because it’s a straight scam every month. I’ve paid more for my power bill than I ever did before I met Sunrun. They lied and said I wouldn’t have a power bill for six months when in fact, I had to power bill bills for six months and have had two power bills ever since. Every month I pay them and every month I pay the Power Company they are liars. They are scammers and there’s nothing good they have to offer.

Sold an inadequate system
Sold an inadequate system by what seems to be a poorly run company. I've rarely had an electric bill for less than I'd been paying before the 12 leased panels and feel it was a big mistake to go with this company. Early on, I'd recommended it to two friends, both who were unhappy with the sales rep and went with other companies - much happier, getting more power and perks (backup battery). My efforts to get attention from customer service were unsuccessful. They don't follow up and didn't seem to care that their rep was lousy. I regret leasing from SunRun and advise you to look elsewhere if wanting solar panels in SoCal area.

I am posting this to warn other consumers: Sunrun Solar is one of the most unprofessional, negligent, and frustrating companies I have ever encountered. If you are considering solar, please read this before signing anything.Sunrun damaged my property—not once, but multiple times.The first major issue happened when they removed my solar panels for a roof replacement and destroyed my deck in the process. It took MONTHS of constant pushing just to get them to address the damage.Then my panels stopped working. Instead of sending someone out to fix them, Sunrun spent MONTHS charging me “presumptive usage” fees—billing me for energy they guessed I used, even though the panels were not producing at all. Completely unacceptable.But the final straw was when they reinstalled the system after my new roof was completed.Instead of putting the piping back along the roofline as it originally was, they slapped ugly piping straight down the siding of my home, defacing the entire side of my house. They told me I would have to PAY to fix their mistake and demanded that I “prove” it wasn’t installed that way before.Who has pictures of their roof lying around? Fortunately, I found a before photo a month later and sent it in. They said someone would follow up—and shocker… no one ever did.Sunrun’s customer service is the worst I’ve ever dealt with. They ignore emails, dodge responsibility, and never call back. The ONLY time they respond is when they’re calling to collect money.Because of this, I stopped making payments. It was the ONLY way to get their attention, and even then, they still refused to fix the issue.Sunrun has cost me time, money, stress, and the appearance of my home. And for what? Minimal electricity savings and endless headaches.My advice to anyone researching solar: Run far away from Sunrun.They do not honor their promises, they do not take accountability, and they absolutely do NOT respect their customers.

My girlfriend was absolutely tricked by this company to get solar installed in her home. every verbal promise was a lie and I wish I read through their contract. SERIOUSLY TAKE A LOOK AT ALL THE OTHER ONE STAR REVIEWSThis company preys upon people who can't afford their energy costs with a short term solution that costs you more money over the span of 25 years. there is only a "deal" being had for the first 5 years, and even then, you only get "credit" towards your electricity bill, which expires, so you're also not really saving as much as they claim. meanwhile, they offer barely any support, they get your tax credit, while they boast "no money down". please, don't be fooled by these parasites and their contracts. another terrible company pretending to help the poor while taking advantage of them. i'd say i'm surprised, but alas I am not. terrible.ignore their reply, if they cared they wouldn't lock people into predatory contracts.

This is a terrible company they charge for nothing. There are no savings. I have had a bill in collections because I refuse to pay for panels I have never had work or save me anything the whole time I lived at my property. Unfortunately they came with my house and now Brittany Myers with Sunrun is telling me they will take legal action if I don’t pay the bill but I never got any savings from my panels. They have never worked ever!! I pay my bills when I am paying for a service that works. This company needs to be put out of business and sued for false advertising and threatening legal action instead of actually doing their job!!

Sunrun had the worst billing and collection procedures I have ever experienced. 4 years ago I had my roof replace and I had sunrun come and take down my panels and then reinstall them. Seemed to go just fine I waited a couple months for the invoice to arrive so I could pay the installer. Finally, I contacted them and asked for an invoice. The guy I talked to said it had already been paid. So OK. Didn't think much more about it except it was part of an insurance claim for hail damage to the roof. Assumed the insurance took care of it as nobody said differently. Well, about a year ago here comes sunrun with a bill for $2700 - the one I thought was paid 2 years after the job was all done! Had a lot of conversations with sunrun - all I got was had to pay it. I am 82 years old and retired. I am on social security, They wanted their money right now! So, I had to get a job. I went back to substitute teaching but since I hadn't taught in a couple years, I had to reapply, got through security checks, get finger printed, and pay licensing fees. Then there was the waiting period between getting jobs and a paycheck issued once a month. All the time sunrun was bugging me with phone calls - I told them the procedure several times. I know it was probably going to be February before I received a paycheck and since I am a sub I never know how much. I started this battle with then in November of 2024. I told them I would give what I could afford. I even skipped one meal a day for a couple months which was hard since I was working. I started making payments in Oct 2024 averaging $200 a month because I was skipping a daily meal. I am working now except during the summer. What was annoying, the last day or so of the month even though I was sending payments they would call me and ask me for the payment. I got paid the last day of the month. I told them over and over an over they would get paid when and if I got paid! They would not stop even calling me when I was in class with students AND THAT WAS UNACCEPTABLE! I finally blocked their phone number. I have been making payments and have paid $1700 to date. In the summer I had to skip meals again because school was not in session, I have no faith in the accounting system. They have the owed amount in full all the time in one heading and the individual payments listed below. This is not a statement. This is only a history. There is non calculation of owed vs paid. They even lost one payment and I had to bug them to find it. Therefore I am doing my own bookkeeping! I still believe this whole billing fiasco was at least partially their fault - 2 years is a a very long time to wait to send a bill and it his me very hard. I will still have to work another 5 months or so to get this paid given my health holds up. So I will not recommend sunrun to anyone for these reasons. It has been physically and mentally stressful. Also, after a routine inspection earlier this year, the technician found that the monitoring system was not working and had not been working for several months so I had no data. Sunrun had not even been monitoring the system WHICH IS THEIR JOB but it appears that data was being collected and I was getting production. But was told there was no recovery option for getting that data. So they didn't do their job. Of course I got no restitution for that. Think sunrun is sloppy so I have to hope nothing goes wrong and I don't die in the next few months before I finish paying off the bill that I didn't know I had 2 years after the service.
