Horrible and beware
Horrible and beware. No sense of rapport building with a customer and just reads the policy and not taken each customer situation as different. Very nice in the beginning but not during the process of filling a claim. Have a call centers that pass you around. Never will recommend to anyone. Will be canceling and getting a insurance company when claim is completed

After a friend told me State Farm…
After a friend told me State Farm dropped them after they lost their home in California due to the wildfires!I was concerned that if something were to happen, they would drop me too….they started me at $238 a month for one vehicle, and said it would go down since I’m 55 or older, however, it increased to $267 a month, they lied to me,so I called them up about the price hike and explained I could get insurance for $100 cheaper with progressive, and they said they couldn’t match that price, so I switched to progressive, at $144 a month, a couple days later I get a notice saying I have a balance of $1169.24 that I owe State Farm for cancellation, hahaha when I was paying them monthly and never had an accident or claim and never renewed after my 2nd six months was up, they actually owe me $64 because I canceled before the renewal date this insurance company is a complete rip off. I warn people stay away from them, I’m gonna take them to court and sue them for overcharging me specially since I’ve been driving for 42 years and I’ve “never had an accident or claim”!!!!!!

State Farm denied my weather‑damage…
State Farm denied my weather‑damage claim after their adjustor told me, “you’re covered for weather damage, you have weather damage, but you’re not getting covered.” He even called himself a “scientist” and insisted “we don’t get hail in New Mexico.” Then he tried to show me what “real damage” looks like by poking a metal object through a shingle. After decades as a customer, this is the treatment I got. Be careful of bad neighbors who cheat, steal, and abuse your loyalty — I’ve moved all my policies elsewhere.

DO NOT GET STATE FARM!!
DO NOT GET STATE FARM!!! I was at a drive thru and got hit from someone with State Farm insurance, very minor accident, was only 247 dollars to replace a cover. It has now been 3 weeks of them wanting me to do a 100 things to get paid, even suggested me going thru my insurance. If they won't pay me 247, imagine if you had them and got into an accident. I filed a claim for extensive damage
I filed a claim for extensive damage. The claim consultant told me everything we need to do. I believe they try and deter you from filing a claim by having you jump through alot of hoops. All I want is my home repaired. I have paid my premiums for close to 30 year's. I am not giving up as they hope you will. I am determined they will pay for the repairs if we have to sue the company. It is pathetic that you pay thousands of dollars and get screwed.

State Farm Canceled Homeowners policy (reiterated 3x) and then Reversed Decision!
We received a letter, the day after Christmas, saying that State cancelled our homeowners policy without any explanation and would not respond to questions from our agent as to why. Upon writing to their "CEO" I received a response saying due to various financial problems in covering customers in California (presumably due to fire risk-we were not in the fire areas although they were nearby), they confirmed that they were not renewing. I then filed a complaint to the CA insurance commission and about a month later State Farm reiterated it's response and said they would not renew my policy. THE DAY AFTER I RECEIVED THEIR INSURANCE COMMISSION RESPONSE, my agent sent me an email indicating that they reversed their decision and State Farm WOULD renew my policy. So 3x they denied coverage and suddenly they indicate that they would renew WITHOUT EXPLANATION or any apology. ALL OF THESE LETTERS AND NOTIFICATIONS CAME FROM THE UNDERWRITING DEPARTMENT AT STATE FARM, INCLUDING HIGH LEVEL REPRESENTATIVES OF THE GROUP. Clearly, State Farm does NOT know internally what the right hand is doing while the left hand is doing something very different. Since my first learning of the cancellation, I have canceled my 6 other policies (auto, personal articles, umbrella, etc.) and obtained homeowner coverage from another "non"-admitted insurer. After all the stress and whip-sawing from State Farm, as well as considering actions in other claim situations (e.g. auto and a water leak), State Farm does NOT deserve my business or anyone else's for that matter! As a 30 year client of State Farm I expect better treatment but clearly they are only interested in money, of which they already have plenty (currently posting in excess of 145 BILLION dollars in net worth--2024). Given our experiences, they deserve a Zero Star rating. "LIKE A BAD NEIGHBOR, STATE FARM WAS THERE!"

No stars the worst customer service…
No stars the worst customer service ever they have nothing but young kids working answering phones. Don’t know what they’re doing. You can hear their family in the background. You could never get to the person who was in charge. Someone else will call. This is the worst insurance I’ve ever had.

I live in Atlanta
I live in Atlanta, Georgia and there’s a BLACK OWNED State Farm insurance agency in my neighborhood so I tried to patronize my own nationality for business…. Moving forward, car insurance in the Atlanta area is extremely high anyway, but my mindset check around I checked with a local progressive insurance and my full coverage on 1 of my vehicles was $130 cheaper with the exact same coverage !!! I DROPPED STATE FARM LIKE A HOT POTATO THAT VERY SECOND on all policies on everything I owned

Worst insurance ever
Worst insurance ever! They jerk their insured around. They don't have your back whatsoever when it comes to claims. It took them three months and then they lowballed me. I have gone through heck. The collision place is also treating me poorly and taking forever to put the vehicle back together with substandard parts. Then they collect premiums while the vehicle is sitting there and ask for mileage. I'm more than tired of the situation. I reached out to the party that was at fault, and they don't want to take additional responsibility. Do your research before selecting an insurance company.

Terribly high rates
Terribly high rates. Been a customer for 17 years. And they get higher ever few months. I pay 380 for 1 silverado truck, and 1 tow behind camper. Other companies quote me around 160. State farm doesn't care.

They do not explain or communicate with…
They do not explain or communicate with us. Fire in living room began 12/18 - we have filed, for example, for housing reimbursement and about personal property process, and they do not call back. I am trying to talk to the manager out of Atlanta, but he is behind a voicemail too. Folks - you will not save money if something happens with this company. We have no idea what's going on.BTW, local people have no real power to help with national claims. Hard lesson.

Rosie Magee- State Farm total loss dept.
If you are assigned to work with Rosie Magee at State Farm, prepare yourself for frustration, delays, and a complete lack of proactive communication.I was given a firm deadline of February 6, 2026, to make a decision regarding my total loss settlement — which I met. I clearly and unequivocally accepted the settlement within the timeframe she imposed. What I was not told, however, was that there was no agreement in place with the repair shop and that several additional days would be needed to “figure out” storage fees, payment, and vehicle retrieval. That critical information was never communicated until after the deadline had passed. As a direct result of this failure to disclose material details, storage fees continued to accumulate — entirely due to internal delays and lack of coordination. As of February 16, 2026, the claim was still unresolved. No urgency. No accountability. No meaningful updates unless I pushed for them. This has been a masterclass in poor claim handling: reactive instead of proactive, vague instead of transparent, and slow when time and money are on the line. When someone’s vehicle is declared a total loss, they are already dealing with stress and disruption. The least you expect is timely communication and follow-through. Unfortunately, that standard was not met here.If you value clear communication, ownership of issues, and basic efficiency — you may want to temper your expectations.Extremely disappointing experience.

I recently got some dividend checks…
I recently got some dividend checks from State Farm. I deposited them into my Chase bank account. Chase is making me wait 10 days to access MY MONEY. Chase says they get a lot of fraudulent checks from State Farm. Is that true? Does State Farm issue a lot of fraudulent checks?

Fight for repairs
In November 2025, I created an auto damage claim via phone for my 2023 Kia Soul. I repeated numerous times that the front passenger door was damaged and was no longer able to open the door. Even the claim specialist confirmed the damage issue that was going to be submitted for the claim. I thought everything was OK. I took my car to Texas Collision Center to drop it off as instructed. The repair specialist walked around my car and asked if I wanted the small scratches and tail lights to be repaired as well as the front passenger door. I gladly confirmed and reiterated as long as the front passenger door is repaired. I left feeling confident about the repairs. Weeks passed. Finally Texas Collision Centers called and said the repairs were completed. I went to pick up my car and the front passenger door was NOT repaired, only the minor dings, scratches, and tail lights had been repaired and I was charged a cool $500 for minor ding and scratch repairs. I questioned about my door, and I was told the front door repair was never mentioned and state farm never submitted anything about the front door repair!!! Apparently state farm had completely ignored what I had repeatedly said needed to be repaired when I created the claim with them. I immediately called State Farm after returning home, and I was told that the passenger front door damage was never mentioned when creating the claim and they refused to fix it unless I created another claim of which they insisted I would have to pay another $500 for it be repaired. I was like you cannot possibly be serious... I was completely shocked and beyond livid. Since they refused to help me no matter what I said. I got off the phone and submitted a Better Business Bureau complaint for State Farm. About 2 weeks later State Farm called and said they would fix it without charging another deductible of $500. I asked what changed their minds. Apparently the BBB complaint lit a fire under their you know what. I was told that they listened to the recording of when I originally made the claim and said that I mentioned the passenger front door damage like 10 times and the claims agent confirmed it the same number of times. I thought well duh why would anyone submit a claim for minor dings and scratches and throw away $500 for something so minor. They admitted they were wrong and screwed up the claim because of miscommunication with Texas Collision Centers. After almost 4 months, the front passenger FINALLY was repaired. The point of this long a$# review is to say that State Farm is in the business of fixing what they want to fix despite what you submit a claim for, unless you are down for a massive fight to get what you want repaired. I'm sorry I do not want to have to fight or beg anyone to repair my car and it take almost 4 months for total completion. I have never had this much trouble ever in my life or much less ever had this happen with any other insurance company. I am still shocked that I was put through an utter nightmare for State farm to repair my car.

I am reporting a serious lack of…
I am reporting a serious lack of integrity and transparency at the Dave Shivers Agency. After a $200+ premium hike, I discovered blatant contradictions in my records. The Facts:Data Inconsistency: The office claimed they used "third-party" data for my mileage, yet they didn't have my 2024 smog certificate info—which is public record.Conflicting Stories: Business Manager Alyssa Shivers claimed in a voicemail she HAD my 2025 reading, then sent an email stating, "We do not have that number."Unprofessionalism: When I tried to address the $200 error, Alyssa refused to provide corporate contact paths. Another staff member, Jordan, refused to let me speak with anyone else, trying to force me back to the manager I was complaining about.I have filed formal reports with the CA Department of Insurance and State Farm Corporate. Consumers deserve honesty and transparency, neither of which I found here

Claim service in NJ terrific. Prompt, thorough and helpful.
Great experience with recent claim with State Farm. They explained every step of the way what was to happen and what was needed from me. Excellent services.my only complaint is the what they describe as their A1 bot messaging service. Trying to contact the kind and competent claims agent is the worst. It insists on voice then doesn't respond for almost a minute. Most unbelievable was there was no way to reach an extension given on emails and letters from State Farm. Filing a claim is nerve racking enough but this messaging service is a record breaking insufficient system. Suggestion : Maybe pay less for Jared commercials and invest in an effective, efficent and helpful messaging service for phone calls to claims agents THANK YOU
