Autism, inclusion and acceptance
We flew in from Ireland to take our autistic son on the Old Trafford Stadium tour, He is a man united super fan and this was his fist trip out of Ireland and for years has asked to go to Old Trafford , Any trip like this is a worry to parents of children with special needs but there is absolutely no need to worry when visiting Old Trafford. Our son wore the sunflower lanyard and the inclusivity and understanding started as we walked up to the stadium where one of the security guards outside the store noticed the lanyard and came over to offer help , he walked us around to the area where the tour begins . We had booked the tour for the three of us and explained we were bringing a child with needs, there was no charge for our son , we were met straight away and had a chat with one of the staff we said we had a son with needs and were told they understand and that everybody is welcome at Old Trafford , there was a group of around 20 people waiting for the tour but we were led to the side where the staff member explained there was a member of staff coming down to meet us to give us the tour . Richard who arrived to give us the tour is fantastic , he was brilliant with our son , the tour was so interesting and he made it all about Craig , it was fun , informative and he made it a day both a very proud Mum and Dad and Craig will never forget , Craig hasn't stopped talking about his day in Man United or his new best friend Richard ,i don't think Richard has ever been asked so many questions by someone on a tour before ! i am not a football fan so my opinions are not based on supporting Manchester United but as parents of a child with needs we were blown away with both the levels Manchester United have gone to to promote inclusivity and acceptance and to Richard you have given our son memories he will never forget we cannot thank you enough . i wont talk about the tour as that's for you reading this to go and enjoy but any club is nothing without the right people working there and with Richard and everyone else we met including the lady in the red cafe who was lovely to us and found some badges and cards for craig . You have the right people and the right beliefs and understanding when dealing with people with additional needs . Thank you all for everything you did for Craig. As always the last words go to Craig " Best day Ever "

Did the old Trafford tour on Sunday 23rd Jan. Alan was our guide and my god he was a wealth of knowledge. We all learned new information from it. I would highly recommend this tour and Alan.
