There are plenty of fish in the pond (mind the Ulysses), each offering a different set of features but all aiming for the same goal: to help you write, edit, and organize. Still, most users seem to circle back to just a few. I’ve used both Scrivener and Ulysses for a while. Scrivener, while powerful and feature-rich, feels more like a robust WYSIWYG tool — and in the end, I often find myself reverting to the old-school combo of folders + LibreOffice.Word processors today don’t look or feel right anymore — not in the way Inspire Writer does. And those small (or maybe not so small) details — the elegance, clarity, and flow of the interface — matter a great deal, especially when inspiration is hard to find.Ulysses, which I’ve used extensively, clearly inspired the developers of Inspire Writer. But that’s not a bad thing. Quite the opposite — Inspire Writer brings that streamlined, focused writing experience to the Windows world. It’s a pity there’s no Linux or macOS version yet.Even more surprising: Inspire Writer is rarely mentioned in the same breath as Ulysses, Scrivener, or iA Writer — and it absolutely deserves to be. It is a gem.

As a writer I can't tell you just how badly formatting trips me up. I have actually sat down and timed exactly how long I spend on changing formatting, styles, image alignment, what have you — and it took me 45 minutes for a 1500 word post with lots of pictures! This drives me INSANE. I can't stand it. As a freelancer, time is money, and I can't afford to waste it. Google docs is the gold standard in the industry but it is SO clunky when it comes to fonts and formatting. I used to use a Mac, now I use Windows and thanks to Inspire Writer replacing Ulysses, I have ZERO regrets about changing tech.For anyone who's interested: I've tried Butterdocs (export quality is terrible), iA Writer (I dislike their fonts) and MS Word (who uses MS Word anymore?) Inspire trumps them all!
I just discovered this Inspire software and it’s really great!a unique program of its kind because I have been looking for a long time for software capable of listing texts in a simple way while having a multitude of possibilities to enhance these texts with images or annotations which allow you to find them at a glance. eye a written with disconcerting ease.What I like most are the import and export options with a wide choice of formats that help with the task.Huge time saving when importing an entire file (word for example) containing several texts.And I must add that the automatic recording of each entry allows you to free your mind and devote yourself fully to your productions without worrying about mishandling which could lead to loss of data.In addition, Inspire has a clear interface, backups do not take up much space even if you create several hundred sheets.The file tree panel is very practical because it allows you to switch from one folder to another and move sheets just by copying and pasting.The integrated and fast search engine instantly displays results for keywords or phrases contained in the sheets.Practical, light, easy to access and without frills (compared to other software that I will not mention :-)) without having to be a computer expert and being sure to find your notes or texts very quickly are the best elements of this program.Thank you for successfully creating a real library tool for writing enthusiasts like me!
I tried it because windows is my working OS, so after search some review and introduction, I decide to try it. after three to four days, I think it will be the important tool for my work. I use it wrote about 4000 word in 2 day. it's impossible before. the dark mode and teletype mode is excellent.the markdown is very simple, easy to type in and for a draft, it is enough. i can paste picture in the article, no need to link a URL. if I need arrange the group or level, it is not so complex, but enough, maybe somebody need more detail. but it is okay for me.I think the best environment to write a paper before deadline is : a blank room with a chair, desk, a computer with inspire, and have music you like, keep phone silent. simple is important when you need focus on the target. just type in the keynote, like a mind storming, use the headline as the paragraph topic, list the topic adjust the order, fill with detail, then dump as a word doc file. INSPIRE give the enough function, not too much , but enough. you can work with it without learning hours.

program highlight:Note previews on the sidebar. Can view other note content and jump between them so quickly.I really liked how each page displays on your sidebar with a few lines of preview. As a forgetful person it is important for me to be able to see snippets of different documents at a time, as opposed to having to jump between them again and again. On this note, the transition between pages is seamlessly fast, being that they are just rich text pages. This is opposed to multiple heavy word documents that you much flip between.What I don't like however, is how from what i remember, you must keep exporting your files to be able to read them on other documents. I remember having to do this to read on my phone, due to a lack of a mobile app. I do appreciate that things can just export as text documents. I say this because it could have been like mobile app I have which exports all notes to a single file, filled with app-to-read formatting jargon...Not sure I'll use the blogging integrations, but I just liked the app as a writer for a collection of small tidbits that I can jump between.The word count progress is a cool feature, and the tags too which I have yet to use properly. Users of a simplistic, older looking UI will appreciate how inspire looks, compared to the look of Joplin.
I was looking for a very simple Markdown writer app as a fiction writer. I have recently taken up the Obsidian notetaking app, and enjoyed learning Markdown with that. I wanted a simple but speedy writing app to take over the complexity of Scrivener. I can write in Obsidian but there are still many issues - tables in particularly are difficult in Obsidian's markdown format. After trialling Inspire Writer for 7 days free trial I was overjoyed to find that I could simply map to my Obsidian notes folder on my PC, and writing in both has real time saves. Write a new note in Inspire Writer, and it appears immediately in Obsidian. Inspire Writer adds some additional benefits - tables and footnotes are really easy with a popup box to input into. Much easier than even Obsidian's Advanced Tables plugin. Inspire lets me tag files (called sheets) with inhouse tags also (not affecting my metadata tags inside of Obsidian) which I use for other purposes. Inspire publishes to Medium and Wordpress also, a huge bonus for blog posts. The only downside to Inspire is its image view and insert functionality. Inspire only deals with external images (hosted on the web, so only URLs). Obsidian holds images inside the Obsidian folders for copy/pasted/dragged images. Inside of Inspire the same note.md file only shows the Obsidian URL for this internal image, and does not show the image. The ease of doing markdown tables and writing quickly when drafting made me take the purchase option for Inspire Writer.
Inspire Writer App for WindowsThe Inspire Writer app is a smooth joy to write with and I'm a more productive windows platform writer than ever before. I'd become interested in using a dedicated minimalist markdown app recently when recommended for my blog and content writing. Initially, I found AI Writer with a windows version based on reviews and testing out the download. Ulysses had no windows option. Unfortunately, it took me some time to discover how lacking the other apps were for windows. I reviewed several online and tested a couple landing on the Inspire Writer. It's marvelous and is built for writers and functions effortlessly with all the features working on windows. Google Drive, WordPress, and Medium output publish options are terrific and efficient for my work. It comes with several fonts and I like the various save modes and windows too. Last month, I published a book and this is such an improved writing experience compared to how I wrote my first paperback. I'm very happy with Inspire Writer and likely will utilize it for work on my next food marketing book that I'll begin in 2024. Last night, I actually hurried home from a family social event to write before going to bed - I've never written at night prior to having Inspire. The Inspire Writer is a low-stress tool to produce content. It also has a helpful free download and trial that allowed me to test it on my computer. I was able to get it from their Inspire Writer website.
I've been using this app for two years now and I love it :). I use it both for specific projects (blog posts, reviews, articles) and to gather ideas and small loose texts that I wouldn't know how to archive if I used other heavier programs like Word. I especially like it for first drafts, where I can write quickly, without having to dwell on formatting or presentation details. Once I have finished the first draft, I export to Word, for example, and finalise the details there; but for the first draft, Inspire is my first choice.
Inspire Writer, surprise! This software product is very easy to use, and here's what really surprised me:1. Interface Design:(1) the division of plates is reasonable. Inspire Writer's interface is compartmentalized, and all project materials can be found quickly without having to search through layers of folders system to ensure that writing is not interrupted.(2) simple interface. Inspire Writer's interface is clean and free of complex menus and buttons, and it doesn't distract from writing. 2. Functional design:(1) function adequately and sparingly. Inspire Writer builds the necessary editing around the task of writing, and optimizes the editing to provide the support the Writer needs. Controlled feature design makes me more focused and productive, thanks to Inspire Writer!(2) the edit function supports keyboard shortcuts. The editor of Inspire Writer provides keyboard shortcuts that allow me to keep my hands on the keyboard as much as possible, which is essential, especially for longtime writer who are adept at using the Inspire Writer, it's even more advantageous.In conclusion, I'd like to say that Inspire Writer's positioning is smart, and breaks away from the big and general design ideas to specifically address my most real and specific needs in the process of writing.All in all,Inspire Writer has given me a very friendly experience and hopefully it will become more elegant! That's how I use it, and I hope the designers of Inspire Writer products read it. Thank you!One suggestion: it is recommended that you insert hyperlinks in the text that relate to various types of local files, such as videos.I’d appreciate it.

A writer friend told me about Ulysses and some other writing apps on the Mac app store. I was fascinated reading the reviews but didn't have a MACintosh computer or a MACbook. So wanted a similar Windows writing app.I did a lot of Google search, installed and tested many writing apps, and ultimately found Inspire Writer. I instantly fell in love with this app, and knew that this was the one I would be using.There are very few Windows writing apps that support Markdown. But what makes this app shine among those are the other features you read above. Get this app and try it out. I used Inspire Writer for the duration of the trial. My work moves between Mac and PC. Ulysses is my preferred writing app on Mac and up until now I have not found an equivalent app for PC. But, thankfully, Inspire Writer is the perfect answer. There is a seamless transition between my Mac and my PC with my writing projects. Inspire Writer is the gorgeously elegant, distraction free writing tool for me. I cannot recommend it highly enough.Patrick Griffin,Ireland.
The main plus for me is that the way that Inspire’s side bars work the previews for sections show 3-4 sentences, and this lets me put key points in those sentences and be able to view them while another section is in full view. I’ve been searching a long time and the only other software I know that does this is Bear, but that is Mac exclusive… Dark mode is highly appreciated.While there's plenty of markup functions available, but all I like to use is headings and lists because they let you jump between them like bookmarks. I mostly just use Inspire because of the section thing and the clean interface lets me write without waffling about with formatting, I don’t use Inspire to polish or tidy up text, I think it more it specialises in just taking notes or letting you bang out a 2,000-word literature review in 4 days (True story!). The tidy interface let’s me just write without caring about constantly checking grammar or changing the font. The spellchecking within Inspire... is not very smart, so I don’t have this option enabled. I don't think it needs to specialise in this area though.Some advice: for content with a lot of science terminology, I recommend turning off the option. Maybe I haven’t checked enough, but I would love if there were multiple highlighter colours, but I think there is just one. I would use markdown for emphasis, but I don’t really like how it keeps the code there instead of just applying the formatting. Eg. “*Text*” remains instead of just making “Text” bolded.Inspire is very much a text note taking and organising program. I always must choose the right note taking program to suit each subject of mine. Inspire works well for literacy or code-based subjects, but not so much for biology subjects that use a lot of diagrams. The RAM it takes up is also marginally smaller than that of Word or Onenote. Not a big deal, but it gives peace of mind for some reason.
Writing was always hard for me, because I either gets distracted by constant formatting in WYSIWYG editors like Word, or I would write my text in Markdown, and then I would spend an enormous amount of time organizing my text files, images, and writing scripts to convert my Markdown files into Word, HTML or LaTeX. This overhead is so distracting!I discovered Inspire today and I was inspired, because it hides all this unnecessary complexity and gives you a sleek interface that focuses on writing and writing only. You don't have to think about the formatting, export to different formats or version control. You don't even need to think about file names! You write 'sheets' instead of files that can be arbitrarily split or merged as you go. You don't have to think where your images are located and how they should be named - Inspire handles that for you! And you never have to remove you hands from the keyboard to grab a mouse - you just don't need it. Just write!The user interface is very simple, yet well-thought and elegant. There are no cluttered panels for every possible function. You just go through a well-written 10 minute tutorial and know everything you need.Overall Inspire is an amazing editor for text writing, and I'm very happy that I discovered it!
After a couple of years using mac I had to move to the windows system. All apps were moved ... but there was one big problem: ulysses. What kind of app is able to replace my favorite writing tool? I use this app for academic writing and writing sermons, so I need an app to handle footnotes and organize my sermon archive. And: I want to have fun on working. That means: I’m looking for an aesthetic writing tool with functionality.I testet iA writer, scrivener, typora, (word focus mode - this is not a real competition for long documents and flexible handling), but none of them works for my complete satisfaction. I like the look and feel from iA writer and typora, but the handling with footnotes makes me crazy. Scrivener meets the functional requirements but makes no fun. Searching for other solutions I found inspire writer. But there are no tests on youtube and no recommendations in the usual platforms ... why not? An app that seems to be the windows version for ulysses, without big advertising - I was concerned about that. But I downloaded it and began writing. Wow! It feels like ulysses. I found an app to handle footnotes, organize my sermon archive and I enjoy writing. Now I can shutdown my mac.
I've been searching for Evernote alternatives for years, and I've tried Notion(offline not supported), Simplenote(images not supported, and no folder organisation), OneNote, Nimbus Note, etc, then I came across Inspire.First impression is that I like the interface a lot. It is similar to the Apple Mail interface, and the dark mode colour is not completely black like Evernote. And there is a lot of colour to the Inspire formatting. The headings are light blue, and the bullet points are orange, for example. I wish the developer would breathe colour into the icons on the sidebar as well, but as of writing this, the icons are all greyscale and dull.One drawback of Inspire is that there is only desktop version for Mac and Windows, and there is no mobile android or iOS app that would give a seamless experience to go anywhere. I work mostly in desktop environment, and I carry my laptop everywhere, but there are moments when I want to quickly look up my notes on my phone. Also, I am used to markdown formating of using single *bold* for making bold on WordPress with EditorsKit plug-in. Inspire uses double **bold** and make the bolded characters orange, which makes me use extra keystrokes, and the editor does not hide the formatting at all after typing, leaving the #, *, _ and so on visible in the editor. Single *bold* does not give me bold; it gives me italics instead. I could not find any option to toggle on/off the formatting, nor could I find a way to customise the markup input or colour. So it’s not going to be easy just copy/pasting into Gutenberg Editor, or publishing directly from Inspire to WordPress because of the conflicts with markup.Inspire organises notes under Library(we can only one library) and groups(comparable to notebooks in Evernote), and there is one default group called ‘Inbox’. It comes empty, and there is no explanation at all about what it is. I cannot rename the ‘Inbox’ to something else, unlike the ‘Introduction’ group which has tutorial guide on how to use Inspire.Evernote does not make it easy to export my data out to import into Inspire, but Inspire does have import option of word docx and html pages. I haven't tried migrating my data from Evernote yet, but I am more pleased by Inspire than by other note-taking programs that I've come across before. The program feels light and not bloated compared to other competing note-taking apps. The drawback of there being no mobile app is the point of convenience that can hold back some from adopting Inspire into their workflow.
