Would like to give a no star rating
Would like to give a no star rating. Reputation has gone downhill you may as well say underground. Went for friend birthday treat. On morning of travel told 50 min treatments would be cut to 25 due to staff sickness and we could comeback on another occasion. Treatments not together as two doubles in group of 4 as expected, afternoon tea not too shabby however I noticed the maintenance and cleanliness was not as good or decent as first visit a couple years ago. Treatment was not very good by all account and for one not very relaxing at all as the therapist asked to turn of the music as it was doing her head in, f'ing and jeffing about how tired she was and then had the gall to disappear leaving me sat there for 30 minutes after the first 2 pals had their unforgettable experiences (not for good reasons), and the 3rd of us had gone in a room with their therapist. No one thought to check with me until it was too late. When calling and emailing to complain and possible refund, no manager available and no response. Appalling customer service. They must have gotten to greedy. Despite arriving 15 minutes ahead, we experienced delays and poor service at the front desk. I arrived at 20:15, completed the form, and waited with my friend. The receptionist was uncommunicative and dismissive in her demeanor. The desk staff failed to check that the therapist (Angela) who was allocated to me actually came to collect me. I waited and no one appeared; the receptionist left to go upstairs and did not return or inform Angela that I was waiting. One friend’s treatment was shortened and when she queried this she was ignored. Another friend’s treatment didn’t begin until approximately 20:40 after oils were refilled.Other staff members were courteous and apologetic however shift manager had left conveniently. Unfortunately the front‐desk service and management of the scheduling marred the experience

cam scam scam dont book anything there
cam scam scam dont book anything there. Me and my girlfriend booked a spa day and when we got there we were told that there had been a fire in spa in January and that we should have received an email which we did not, also that cliffard health spa and club had been liquidated and that regents health had taken over. So cliffards heath were selling spa days packages knowing that they were going bust and I assume regent new about this and didnt want to honour the packages so say they had a fire. Its all suspicious to me

Not a good experience
I attended Clifford health spa yesterday 8th Jan 2026.I booked a spa day for Myself and my granddaughter (not on groupon ) ,We both chose to have a facial, as I had been before and said how nice it was . Unfortunately this experience was not the same . The treatment was nothing like a facial I have ever experienced which was upsetting as I had treated my granddaughter for her birthday. The two therapists didn't even start the treatments together , my granddaughter's therapist was clattering around at the back whilst my treatment had started?!!I had 3 applications of something , felt exactly the same product, rubbed in and then a final liquid applied and that was it !! No exfoliating and nothing like before. I felt it was not for the full allocated time is it seemed to be over very quickly. My granddaughter has not had a facial before so did not know what to expect, but she was not impressed, its hardly not very professional to hang towels on the lights to make it dark ? !!! It seemed very back street ...This experience spoilt the very nice day we had up until this treatment. However I would also like to mention you have a relaxation area upstairs with 14 relaxation beds but ONLY 4 beds working , and also was unable to find 2 beds together downstairs that were working. I have used your spa with my sister before and had the best facial experience ...why are your therapists not all working in the same way ?Very disappointed

Place is a disgusting mess of a spa
Place is a disgusting mess of a spa! Filthy changing rooms, urine all over the male toilet floors, more steam rooms out of order than working ones, the ones that work are never up to a good temperature and all have a damp, mildew and mouldy smell none have a nice fragrance. The 50 minute massage we got was 20 minutes and despite raising this with multiple emails, I've still had no response over a month later! The afternoon tea you get is a joke, we were made to stand waiting for 20 minutes despite being booked in for that rime slot. The quality of the food in 1 out of 10 and the coffee is instant and tastes horrible. The serving staff tried their best and deserve credit, despite their obviously appalling management team that run the place on far too lower staff to cope with the volume of people. Place was always a bit rough round the edges and you get what you pay for, but this last experience is my last as this is just rock bottom. And now they've had a fire which highlights that the place is not being managed well and that they cut corners with costs and maintenance

AVOID
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Avoid at all costs. We travelled specifically for a spa day that was meant to include full use of the facilities, a treatment, and afternoon tea. From the moment we arrived, it was a disaster. We were refused entry for over an hour due to a supposed “gas leak,” leaving us — along with many other guests — standing outside in the rain. When we were finally allowed in, the reception staff were cold, unapologetic, and offered no explanation or compensation for the lost time. The facilities were appalling. They were visibly dirty, with floating skin and bodily residue in the water. The stone beds weren’t warm, several rooms were out of order, and overall hygiene standards were shockingly poor. The treatments were just as bad. Ours was cut short, cheap products were used, and the therapist appeared unqualified — the entire treatment felt improvised and unprofessional. As for afternoon tea, it was the final insult: dry, low-quality food served on plastic plates and cups, completely unworthy of being called “afternoon tea.”This was a complete waste of money and time. Do not bother booking — you will be sorely disappointed.

Lovely morning
Lovely morning. Our group had been split for the treatments but when we asked this to be changed, we were all changed to the same time. Steam rooms and saunas lovely. Food nothing special but was fine. Very good for the cost.

❌ AVOID ❌
A spa retreat is supposed to be a relaxing & enjoyable experience, this is anything but. So overcrowded & busy that you’re constantly vying for places in the spa rooms or relaxation areas. I’d rather pay more & do other spa retreats as the difference is night & day, Atleast those experiences are pleasant & relaxing as you’re not stepping on toes in everything you do for the whole day.

Good spa very bad treatments
The spa itself is very good but it’s too busy at a weekend, they have invested quite well in the facilities. The afternoon tea isn’t great but it’s adequate. My issue is with the treatment areas and the therapists. The room was quite chilly and the products they used were cold it was a very unpleasant experience. I have had treatments at other places so it isn’t my first time. I felt like the therapist wasn’t interested and she seemed to be making it up as she went along, I couldn’t wait to wipe the product off I just felt like I’d been dipped a vat of lard, I couldn’t wait to get out of the room. The towels in the room were very old and threadbare and smelly I didn’t feel comfortable having them touching my body.

The most appalling Customer Service…
The most appalling Customer Service ever experienced. Booked a spa day for two which at the time of booking said ‘no expiry’. Purchased it early, at what I felt was a great price, to use when my daughter graduated. When it came to booking the day, was told my spa day voucher had expired as it was only valid for a set time period! Was given the customer service department contact details to try and come to some arrangement where I hadn’t spent over £100 for nothing. I have sent SEVERAL emails requesting contact and explaining and, to date, despite additional reminder emails, haven’t even had the courtesy of a reply from this company. Any comments on their social media accounts are immediately removed to maintain their ‘wonderful’ ‘good value’ profile! Would still appreciate a response to my emails but won’t hold my breath….looks like I’m out of pocket by over £100!

1 star for a mediocre massage
This one star is basically for the mediocre massages, the spa is an absolute con, you go to complain, nobody responds, try go public on social media and you'll get blocked! So they only have "glowing positive reviews" on their media pages. Leaking GDPR information then getting blame for dietary requirements, which they messed up at the afternoon tea and "can't do anything because you've already eaten it" is disgusting. Luckily, it wasn't a severe allergy but I think unfortunately, it's probably going to take someone dying before they act! The staff do not want to be there and are constantly miserable, half the spa equipment doesn't work. I've been many times before but unfortunately I will put my money where it is worth spending and will no longer be returning, too many attempts and too many chances.

Very disappointed, the whole place is neglected
We came as a couple for Christmas present todayVery disappointed with lots of sauna rooms blocked off, lights not working, foot spas not working, many of the heated loungers not warm., changing rooms dirty, afternoon tea average at best, massage was OK but otherwise the place looks tired and not cared for, we won't be returning

Clifford Spa Long Eaton RIP OFF /AWFUL
Clifford Spa sell packages and DO NOT DELIVER and when you complain DO NOT respond. Absolute con. My friend and I bought a package of 90 minute full body massage, Afternoon Tea and full use of Spa. Just before arrival Clifford Spa called to say they were short staffed so treatments would be cut short to 40 mins. Unable to change date as I was already en-route on train travelling from London. On arrival I asked as a gesture of goodwill if they could give the towel/robe free as opposed to paying the £15 to make up for the short treatment but this was declined. The treatment provided was only at a push 30 mins, the Spa crowded, Afternoon Tea running late with queues. Not a pleasant or relaxing experience at all. I sent a written complaint afterwards, followed up with emails and calls and its been several weeks and Clifford Spa / Customer Services have declined to respond to any of my emails, complaint and when I call the Spa reception will say someone will call back but never do. Disgusting way to treat customers and awful no customer service. They are happy to take your money upfront but are not delivering what you have paid for and don't care as clearly are not bothered about customer satisfaction. Don't waste your time or money as total rip off.

Awful experience and poor after sales service!
We visited for a spa day on 26th Oct 2025. The spa itself is ok but very busy. When it came to our treatments they reduced the time by 20mins. I complained at the desk but they tried to fob us off. We spoke to other people in the spa and they had the same thing happen and were told they had over booked people! I complained when we left and was told our complaint was in the system and someone would be in touch. I’ve since sent 3 emails and have asked for the Managers details and I’ve had no response! This place is a disgrace and would urge everyone to avoid it!

Avoid, not a good experience
Sadly, would not recommend this place and would instead say avoid like the plague. Not a relaxing or enjoyable experience, and actually we left 1.5 hours before our time at the spa had ended. I have emailed in the hope to rectify this with a refund of a future voucher but no reply so I will be going through my bank for a refund through charge back. Hot stone massage was misadvertised as it was a normal massage other than for 5 minutes of hot stone use. Areas were overcrowded, many things did not fully work, water was tepid, afternoon tea was poor, it was incredibly disorganised, some staff members were not very friendly or helpful and there was significant misadvertising of how the spa looks on social media.

I would avoid this place
I would avoid this place. We were double charged for robe and towel hire and for prosecco with the very average cream tea. When I rang to ask for a refund I was told I could only do that by email. I have emailed 5 times since October, all of which have been ignored. I will be reporting them to Trading Standards. The spa itself is OK but nothing special.

Cheap and nasty imitation of a spa
Cheap and nasty imitation of a spaThe afternoon tea is a joke. The cakes and sandwiches are cheap and poor quality. The treatments I cannot comment on because we left long before we ever got to that stage the robe and towels that you get when you’re there are going to be paid for they are not part of any package you have to take a padlock because no locker has a lock on it. They don’t offer at £1 deposit locker like most places Wood the whole place feels like a very cheap public leisure Centre. We were so disgusted with the place that it was filthy overcrowded and the staff on attentive that after an hour we left and when we did so the staff provided a refund for one of the robes of hotels but not both and literally threw the money across at me when we left the staff that I checked us in an hour earlier never even mentioned why we were leaving earlier or if there was any issue or reason why we were leaving soon. Save yourself the money on a crap day out and don’t go to this place find one with much better reviews and it’s more suitable. This place is a sausage factory on the inside ironically it’s an old factory from the outside as well.

Gone downhill I’m afraid
I would have rated this place 5/5 a couple years ago. But it seems that what are seen as offers are downgraded when you come to claim them. Also confirmation of treatments the day before and even though replied immediately to change, shut down to say not possible. My husband called and they changed no problem which just said to me too lazy to help. I don’t think I’ll be rebooking which is a shame. Really gone downhill.

Thank you, Emma!
I'd just like to thank Emma, publicly, for dealing with, what was, a logistically difficult calendar planning problem.Even though this was done over the phone, I could hear her smiling as I took at least ten minutes of her time to sort out varied tricky issues.Give that lady a raise, I say.
