Closure without Cause
I have been with Chime since beginning of 2020. Had zero issues and absolutely loved them. Everything came to a standstill a few weeks ago when, to my literal shock, I get on my app and there is a notification across the top saying my account is being closed, I needed to transfer anything there and they would not accept anything to come through with a date of official closure. No notification otherwise mentioning anything of the sort. Not one call, not even an email. I was so confused and distraught over the entire situation. A week or so later I finally realized that I needed to know, there was nothing done differently and felt I it was time to get with support and address the issue so I could stop beating myself over it, especially when I know I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary or in violation of any terms. There was one more big push for me to get these answers.. I find someone else venting over the issue and just as surprised as I was. Then others poured in. Did something get leaked? Did accounts on high scale get hacked of some sort? Is there more to this? I had never, in 6 years, EVER heard of a closure of accounts in this size and with no information or explanation to the very people that got them there. There was zero way to appeal it and no logical reasoning behind closures in this multitude to happen.Now, I’m in no way saying this is information is what happened, this is my opinion only, just to be clear. Although, this is more justified than what is happening. So I reached out. The person I spoke with looked at my account and said she could see no reason for the closure, therefore she reversed it and told me chime would be emailing the information for the incident. I was excited and was so happy I reached out and the result of being able to keep my account active and no closure over this technical glitch. Or so I thought.A week in… there is it again on my app. I reach out and get the same response from the first person, then was transferred. The second person lets me know the decision is final and closure will be on stated date. She would not give any details on why or answer anything, even why it was reversed the first time. Again, some promise to get an email with reasoning behind the decision. Again, never received. So, heads up to their current and future customers. Since they will not give notification, respectably inform customers, while just shrugging it off, I felt it was worth sharing and holding my integrity and dignity high. Account holders deserve to know. A closure could be detrimental to a customer that has no other bank account or another elsewhere, this is a potential loss of and big blow to their credit, for example. I will end this here, one last hooyah: Hey Chime, even if I hate that it’s come to this. I do however, urge you guys to inform customers of ANY kind of account action and the valid reasoning behind drastic actions like. Maybe, consider appeals for both parties, thus making sure that decisions are fair, dependent on a case by case basis, utmost professionalism and transparency for all. I hope there is a resolution for my case not resulting in closure, high hopes and disappointment from this soon to be former Chime members.

Had a Capital one checking and savings account & Chime to, Anyway closed my capital 1 account 2 years ago & only use Chime now. Far superior to Cap 1, direct deposits are 3/5 days early, my pay is also spectacular & lock features on cards the best. Thank you Chime Rob

Like Chime Bank 🤔 but........
I have been using Chime Bank for about 2 years haven't had any issues and really like the features, the only problem I have constantly complain about is the tipping system,i wish there was a way to create the amount you would like to tip, instead of preset amounts,i frankly believe that Chime would generate more money versus a person not tipping because they are offended by the preset amounts

Poor Customer service
If you need a payment stopped for legitimate reasons, it will not definitely happen at Chime. Unlike a "Real Bank", you have to wait until the charge is no longer pending, then file a dispute. Which even if you have documentation, does not matter.. they start a LENGTHY, DRAWN out "Investigation" of your disputed charge. So, be very aware- of what you are getting yourself into. They are all happy "We are one big family", until you need something done. ~N.M.-Chime Member, Unfortunately for now.

Services for non-customers is better than customers
Without an account you can receive and transfer money immediately for free. Once you open an account you need to wait 3 days for standard ACH. Why is functionality worse for actual customers?Also, requiring the use and activation of a physical debit card to use any features that transfer money is archaic and risks fraud. I’ll be closing my account immediately.

Add linked account nicknames.
They need to add the ability to assign a “nickname” to linked bank accounts. It is impossible to tell the difference between two linked accounts from the same institution. Also, need to raise daily cash deposit limits. Update: Thank you for your response. As a side note, one can see the last four digits when managing linked accounts, but not when selecting an account during transfer. I have brought this issue to the attention of Chime customer service in the past and it has not been addressed. However, if Chime corrects this issue by allowing the user to assign a nickname to the accounts OR makes the last four of the linked accounts visible when moving money, I will be happy to update my review and give Chime a higher rating.

I'm giving you a 5 star review because you gave me a chance with a debit card 5 years ago when my own bank would not because of my credit. You let me have a credit builder card and it has helped my credit. The spot me perk has helped me out countless times and I am very appreciative of you. I hope you guys keep it up! I have been with chime for seven years…
I have been with chime for seven years, all was great with them, I was able to use all the facilities that they had to offer until an unfortunate life even caused me to come for bankruptcy. At that point they pretty much cancelled all my extra perks and have never restored them after a full year into recovery. I have spoken with chime support over this and advised there is absolutely nothing can do. I would recommend chime but seeing that they don’t given their loyal patrons real support I feel that it’s time to take my banking elsewhere.

Can't Close Account Foreign Based Customer Service Continues to Hang Up
The person that responds to these reviews needs to actually work the Customer Service Department. I tried to close my account but you can't do that online. You have to speak with someone. Called customer service and they said they could help me. Was transferred once, then that person put me on hold for over 20 minutes and when I spoke and asked if they were still there I was hung up on. Why is this so difficult?

Have not really had bad to bad experience with them till now, customer service is horrible and pretty much useless. just answer phones with no real help. received email from them asking for tax documents & state id, to verify my tax information. They have my return and are holding it till they feel like it (there phone personnel have no idea of time frame, per them). Once deposit are made will be closing account.

At 65 years old, I've had a number of different bank accounts. I've been using Chime for over a year now, and i think it's my bank from now on. None of the Expected Banking Fees. With my small SSI income, that's a biggie. My check is scheduled to be deposited on the 4th Wednesday monthly, but with Chime direct deposit, I get it on the preceding Saturday. No overdraft fees. Occasionally, I run out of money before my next check, but Chime covers me out of my next check, interest free. That's a biggie too. Overall, since I do almost all of my purchasing online anyway, Chime has been perfect for me. If I need cash, I stop by an ATM just like anyone else, but I don't have to pay a withdrawal fee either, because Chime is affiliated with ATMs all over the country, so I don't have to pay the normal ATM fee that others have to pay. Chime? I can't beat it, IMO.
