$170 for a queen of wrong species

The Ant Vault charged $170 for a queen that was a species I did not order. I had ordered a black carpenter queen with workers. The Ant Vault doesn’t even try to LOOK honest and told me that the queen had probably eaten the workers in transit. Don’t order from these scammers!

Extremely Disappointing and Borderline Scam

In March 2025, we ordered a golden tailed ant queen from Ant Vault for our son’s birthday. The queen was advertised as mated and ready to lay eggs. Our son had spent months researching and was incredibly excited. We placed the order on March 20th.Despite perfect shipping weather, over a month went by with no shipment and zero communication. We called and emailed multiple times with no response. Only after I filed a PayPal dispute did they suddenly ship the queen, still without responding to a single message. I let it go because we finally received the ant.We set her up properly in a test tube with water, cotton, heat, and darkness. She initially laid a few eggs, but every egg shriveled and died. Knowing this species can be slow, we monitored her carefully, but the same pattern continued for months. By September 2025, it was clear we had been sent an unmated queen, despite the guarantee.I contacted Ant Vault again using both emails and their phone number. No reply. I attempted another PayPal dispute, but it had just passed their six month policy window.Without the ability to produce workers, the queen eventually died after eight months of laying nonviable eggs. My son was devastated. What should have been an exciting, educational hobby for him turned into a huge disappointment because Ant Vault failed to deliver what was promised and refused to communicate at any point.DO NOT PURCHASE FROM ANT VAULT.They delayed shipping without explanation, sent an unmated queen, ignored every email and call, and refused to make things right. Their behavior cost my child his excitement for a hobby he was passionate about. This company’s customer service and business ethics are unacceptable. Avoid them at all costs.

Patently dishonest

I had bought a queen from this company that had died without ever pruducing a worker after half a year and thought that was the end of the story. I received an unprompted message from them shortly before Christmas asking about my purchase. I told them the queen was dead, and after a discussion, they agreed to send me a new queen with workers if I paid the shipping and signed up for a $39.99 food subscription that would be refunded after a year. I agreed, but they charged me the $39.99 and a shipping fee every month. I told them they needed to stop the shipping charge for the queen ant in January, and received no response, but thought they would fix the issue. Months later, I contact them again, and was told that the shipping was part of the food subscription - something that I was never told at the beginning. They also told me that instead of a refund, I would get a credit. I would never have agreed to that if the saleman had been honest with me upfront. They never once sent me an invoice over the 10 months of the subscription, and the entirety of the sale was done over the phone, so I was never able to see the details. DON'T BUY FROM THESE SCAMMERS.

Scamed and never received anything

I ordered a camponotus floridanus queen from The Ant Vault which got send to me (price more then 100$) but denied by custom clearance of my country. It got denied because the sender (The Ant Vault) didnt give information on the package to customs clearance so it got sent back to the USA. Many mails were sent to them by me on how we can make it work. They all just totaly got ignored. I didnt get a single answer, a refund or the ants. They cashed in my money and ignored all my trys to contact them. I strongly recommend not buying at this store, chances you wont get your order and be ignored are high. Not trustworthy at all.

DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT order anything from The Ant Vault! All they do is take your money. They over promise and under deliver! They do not respond to calls and emails. It's a scam and a ripoff!!!

Took our money

Took our money, never shipped supplies or ants. Contacted multiple times, always promises of tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow, but tomorrow never came. Had to contact credit card to get refund. Wow.

I Lance Campbell just recently ordered…

I Lance Campbell just recently ordered from this supplier not only did I not receive whaf I ordered phiedole Morrisi they sent me a componotous queen with no eggs I also bought into a year long prescription to receive several anting items and nest every month for 40 dollars a month, I didn't receive all the items have no date to send next months money and scared to! I ordered this product on December 12th 2024 and I didn't receive the package till December 29th and it was wrong I've made several attempts to contact the merchant and the Gan a few replies were made but still haven't received my pheidole morris

Overpriced and abusing beginners lack of knowledge

Heavily overpriced and abusing beginners lack of knowledge, species names are misleading and how do they even dare sell "worker ants", woker adoption works only in very specific settings, and how they present it is straight up money rob.

Very disappointed

Very disappointed. My kids were extremely excited for this ant. The first ant arrived with a missing leg. A replacement was sent but unfortunately I had a terrible time getting help with knowing how to get her larva beyond the initial stages. My last phone call the specialist was extremely disrespectful and since it had been over 30 days and they had my money helping me was no longer a priority.

Great service! Love their ants

At first I was apprehensive with buying ants (I have never done this before -- my 12 year old son convinced me to buy it for Christmas!) and we even had the queen dead on arrival; however, customer service was very punctual with a replacement order (completely for free), which is something I haven't seen with other ant queen selling websites. Amazing website that is very easy to navigate through, they also give lots of discounts and gift cards after your purchase. Love what they have to offer here, their incredible policies, and the guidance they gave me and my son for ant-keeping!
