Star Book Writing is the subject of an New York Attorney General filing and complaint through my company for failure to deliver and breach of contract for publishing services. Delilah Hale, Richard Bentley, Duane Martin are names used to operate this scam.UPDATE: June 10, 2025Since my original review, a person claiming to be Star Book Writing's PR rep called my wife from a blocked number to intimidate us further. I have filed formal complaints with consumer protection agencies and New York law enforcement. Also, after being notified of my review here, they've written 2 threatening emails, pretending to be "in house legal counsel" creating false information from an online third party investigation service in order to intimidate. I mention this here in case any reader here experiences the same absurd tactic. They've now crossed the threshold into deeper criminal actions. I stand by my reviews of STAR BOOK WRITING and will testify the same in court - and as a witness for others who need to make similar claims.
Starbook writing did a fabulous job in helping organize, edit, format and write my book. This process was completed by Delilah Hale and her team. I thought they did an amazing job. My book got published August 2024. Please read my book and provide a review-Rejection Made Me Resilient.” Jameszetta James-Thompson. However, I did not like the book cover or design. I hired my own graphic designer for my book cover and design. I had to pay out of pocket. In terms of the publication process we hit a brick wall. My book was delayed with publication. It took well over 2 months to be uploaded on the necessary platforms. I paid $1900 for copyrights. Today, I do not have my copyrights certificate. I had to obtain a lawyer for support and direction. When this was done, execution finalized. From Amazon, I received $26 after selling over 100 copies of my book. Unacceptable and now I’m working to address the payments from Amazon in regards to publication and sales for my book. If I could offer any advice to first time authors, please sit down with a lawyer. Don’t go with cheap prices. As far as Starbook writing is concerned when I addressed the many issues with Delilah Hale, she worked to address each one of them and displayed a sense of integrity. I believe this is a new company that is trying to make a name for themselves as any company would do. Your feedback and reviews will support others decisions in working with them. I think they have what it takes to accomplish the goals of publishing a first book. However, the many strategic ways in money handling the customers is seen as forceful, aggressive, rude and disrespectful! If I could offer advice to this company for long term support- have a plan in place for dissatisfied customers to want to do business with you. For example, publish a piece of their work that won’t cost a lot of money as an example of what services you are able to deliver. Customer satisfaction is key in every business. If you want to retain customers ask them how you can support their design. I am also willing to help you guys with the customer delivery. The print of the book from Starbook writing was excellent and looked way better than the Amazon version. I prefer my books to be printed from them than third party clients.
We had and are still having a horrific experience with Starbookwriting. The editing was minimal to none, and my wife and I had to correct countless elementary errors ourselves. They promote Amazon KDP programs that don’t exist and try to get you to invest thousands of dollars. They present the program as real and market it similar to Amazons KDP worldwide distribution program that is free, which is misleading, especially for first-time authors unfamiliar with the publishing industry. Due to these challenges, we’ve since gained a lot of knowledge about the publishing process, but it was a tough this terrible learning experience.Additionally, the company lacks transparency. A web search yields no information on their employees, and they aren’t listed with the Better Business Bureau, likely due to withholding qualifying information. Buyer beware! Please take heed from those of us who have had negative experiences and are still dealing with the fallout. Do your research thoroughly before working with companies like this one.Furthermore, as noted in another recent review, they reportedly used my Google account credentials to delete a previous negative review, which raises even more concerns about their business practices.My post before I posted the above post.I was most likely hacked by this CompanyI left a negative review about Starbook writing and now it’s no longer available. After looking into my trustpilot account, I see it was deleted.My account was connected to my google email as well as the password. Last night I received a warning from google that someone tried to access my google passwords. It displayed a lap top computer I was not familiar with.At the moment I received the google warning I wasn’t able to access my Barnes and Noble Press and Ingram Spark accounts.Is this a coincidence? I think not. To be continued…Update: 10/28/24 Starbook Writing still has control of our Ingram Spark and Barnes & Noble Press accounts. They have control of our website.They have been paid for the assistance of helping us create and self publish. I have watched my parents deal with Star book Writing for about a year now. My parents have gone through such a nightmare with this company. Star book Writing has been very unprofessional, they have made numerous mistakes. My parents launched their book on August 15, 2024, and when it first went to print Starbucks writings put in the wrong file with errors. Since then they have made numerous mistakes and the customers from my parents website have still not received their books. I am one of those customers. I have overheard phone calls of the staff being extremely rude to my parents when they are trying to get through this process. Now, Star book writings has gone in and locked them out of their accounts, which is unacceptable. I advise anyone and everyone that is looking to work with Star book Writing to do their research about the company. You will not be able to find any of their staff online. Any reputable company would have a LinkedIn account, or would have articles written about them, especially in the publishing world. Alexander Clarke was especially rude to work with. Run the other way when it comes to this company. HORRIBLE
Horrible experience, i feel scammed. I paid to have them write a book for me and they simply copy pasted my work and sent it back to me as if they wrote. After about 6 month of back and forth and tell them i was not happy with what was happening, I asked for my money a back. And ofcourse, the stopped returning phone calls, emails and texts. Run from these people and don't waste your money.
Star Book Writing has been great to work with so far. We’re currently on chapter number 11 of my autobiography. I’ve been very happy with the process, although I know delays have been on my end. It’s been hard to find time to answer all the questions needed for each chapter. The team is very understanding and easy to communicate with. They’ve been a fantastic partner these past five months. Had a very good experience with starbook writing. The process did take longer than expected, but I can honestly say it was worth the wait. If you don’t mind spending slightly more than 2,000 on a book publication, this company is the one for you. Try them out and see if it’s worth it.
When I initially went to Star Books I was Leary about what to expect. I had never been on this side on the book process before and doubt clouded my mind. I did quite a bit of praying but decided to make a leap. After being paired with Delilah and she reassured that she would guide me I felt a calmness takeover.
