I submitted my credential evaluation to SpanTran in December and my verification is still not completed after nearly four months.My reference number is 002436421. I also paid an additional expedited verification fee, but the process has still not been completed.I was informed that the delay is due to my high school not responding, but I have been actively contacting both my school and SpanTran to resolve this issue. Recently my follow-up emails have not received responses, which is very concerning.My university application deadline is approaching soon and this evaluation is extremely important for my application. I sincerely hope SpanTran can review my case and help complete the verification as soon as possible.Thank you.

For the past month, I have been trapped in a loop where I am asked for "one additional document" at a time, only for my evaluation to remain "On Hold" even after providing exactly what was requested.Most importantly, I was explicitly told at the start that the evaluation would begin while waiting for my official transcripts. My school has now sent my transcripts directly to SpanTran, yet my file is STILL on hold with no progress.To make matters worse, your customer service is non-existent. I have called dozens of times and was even hung up on by a representative when asking for an update. This is professional negligence that is jeopardizing my future. I need an immediate update on Case #002501890 and a final confirmation that my file is being processed.

I am extremely disappointed with the evaluation report I received (Reference No: 002498054). SpanTran has demonstrated a complete lack of attention to detail and professional negligence.First, they completely ignored my official transcripts from Northeastern Illinois University (my exhange year), even though my university sent them directly and I provided proof that SpanTran received and opened the email. Consequently, an entire year of my degree is missing from the report.Second, the report contains clear clerical errors. For a French grade of 15/20, their own scale mandates a 3.67 (A-), yet they assigned a 3.0 (B). This is a direct violation of their own published conversion standards.I have filed a formal appeal, but I have not received a timely response. This invalid report is currently jeopardizing my university admission. I demand an immediate recalculation and the inclusion of my US coursework.

I never leave reviews but I went out of my way to find a way to leave one so that alone should say something. This is the most incompetent company to exist. They're slow at the service they provide, they clearly do not know what they're doing. Lack of clear and cohesive communication. I'm failing to understand why a top university would recommend using this company. The delay in carrying out the service is way too long- it's been since December and I'm still waiting. Honestly if you love your peace and like things to operate smoothly DO NO I repeat, DO NOT use this awful company.

I would give zero stars if that were an option—because that is exactly what SpanTran deserves.To start, the company itself seems confused about its own identity. Their name is used interchangeably as SpanTran and TEC, even by their own representatives.Their processing timeline is unreasonably slow and has caused missed deadlines. More concerning, their practices feel deceptive. Applicants are required to begin an application and pay a $200 fee to “start” the evaluation, supposedly pending receipt of official documents. They insist transcripts be sent via DHL only, despite the availability of other reputable international courier services.If you use any courier other than DHL, you quickly discover that SpanTran does not appear to have a staffed office in Houston, as they claim. Instead, the Houston address is an unmonitored P.O. Box. Their customer service operation is based in New York (929-480-6977). Although they claim business hours from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, hold times routinely exceed 20 minutes. If you’re lucky, your call may be answered by someone named Roberto or Diego—who collectively seem to make up the entire “Customer Service Department.”Email inquiries are often answered in broken English, which is alarming for a company whose core function is evaluating academic transcripts.Once transcripts are mailed using any service other than DHL, SpanTran conveniently claims they never received them—despite the fact that international mail rarely takes more than 30 days from anywhere in the world. At that point, applicants are pressured to pay an additional $85 for electronic verification services. These services come with extensive disclaimers and explicitly state that timely results cannot be guaranteed.Despite all of this, SpanTran refuses refunds, asserting that “the evaluation process has already started.” Faced with looming deadlines, most applicants are forced to abandon SpanTran and seek another NACES-member organization. Meanwhile, SpanTran keeps the original $200 fee for providing little to no actual service.

Extremely poor customer experience and communication
While the final academic translation and transcription work was excellent and quickly completed once underway, the customer experience and communication were severely lacking. The entire process was delayed by nearly 20 days (far exceeding expectations) because I needed to modify the initial scope of documents, and the slow pace of replies, often limited to one per day, greatly protracted this back-and-forth. The most significant flaw, however, was the document review process itself: I was allowed to pay for the translation of an academic prize certificate (550$ in total) that the company's policy prohibits from being included in the final report. This failure to notify me immediately, before payment, led to unnecessary expenditure and wasted time. Furthermore, when this issue was brought to their attention, they refused to refund the cost of the useless translation, stating that my case was already closed and services rendered.I would only recommend this company if the receiving institution strictly requires their service AND the client is 100% certain of the required documents beforehand. Otherwise, I strongly advise seeking an alternative company that offers competent client communication.

HORRIBLE DO NOT USE. DO. NOT. give them your money.I had a course evaluation done from an australian university, which uses the High distinction-distinction-credit-pass-fail grading system. Since the USA uses letter grading, and there are 10 possible letter grades (including A, A-, B+, B etc...) I was absolutely appalled to learn that they arbitrarily decided that the grade below an A (High distinction) was a B+. Meaning A- was just... skipped. So, despite having earned 83/100 on a couple of my courses (85 being an A grade), I was given a B+ and therefore missed out on important grade points.I am applying to extremely competitive colleges and those points matter A LOT. when I emailed them they sent a curt, honestly borderline RUDE email saying "no changes need to be made," "this is based on 35 years of research." Also you will NEVER EVER be able to reach them on the phone. I used WES for a different evaluation and though they took forever customer service was at least medium ok.

We used SpanTran for the evaluation of our daughter’s Belgian high school diploma (ASO), hoping for an accurate and professional assessment of her academic background. Unfortunately, the result we received was extremely disappointing and, in our view, academically misleading.SpanTran failed to recognize the major structural differences within the Belgian secondary education system — specifically, that ASO (General Secondary Education) is the most academically rigorous track, preparing students for university-level studies. The grading scale conversion applied did not reflect this at all. It appeared to use a generic one-size-fits-all model, likely the same as for less academic tracks such as TSO or BSO, which differ greatly in curriculum and difficulty.When we raised these concerns, we received only generic responses that referenced their internal methodology and longstanding experience, without addressing the substance of our argument. There was no willingness to engage with the educational context or provide clarification on how track differentiation was (or wasn’t) taken into account.We ultimately feel that the evaluation does not accurately reflect our daughter’s academic performance, and that the process offered little more than a mechanical conversion — something we could have done ourselves using publicly available tables.Very disappointing experience, especially given the cost and the critical role these evaluations play in university admissions.

They are absolutely trash. They completely miscalculated my GPA and absolutely no response. Trying to call them for three days and no response and completely ommitted one of my degree. NACES should revoke their licence. Absolutely pathetic. I hope somebody can figure out how to report them.

I submitted my college coursework and diploma to SpanTran over eight months ago for transcript evaluation and verification. Unfortunately, the experience has been extremely disappointing.I was referred to this company by the university I am applying to, trusting that it would be a smooth and professional process. Instead, I’ve been met with delays, vague updates, and unhelpful copy-paste responses. Despite multiple follow-ups, SpanTran has not provided any specific information—such as when they contacted my university or what actions they've taken since.Eight months is far beyond reasonable for a verification process, especially when there is no transparency or accountability. Because of this experience, I will be contacting the university that recommended SpanTran and sharing my concerns about how unreliable and unresponsive this company has been.

Like majority of people here, I didn't have a good experience. I didn't read the reviews and honestly I regret it. My university issued me the documents in English and they want them in Italian (?). Why is it so complicated? Why do you Need to complicate things? Do you want me to pay again for the verification service?

Told me my academic registrar's official email addr was not the registrar's official email addr and to resend it again, which was untrue. I had to explain what the email domain was, the website was, and why it was the official email - plus shown them an email of which MIT accepted the documents from my university's registrar email. Really really stupid people navigating the evaluation process, seems to not care a lot to research about the institution or the official email.
