I wish I could have put 0 stars!!!
I wish I could have put 0 stars!!!I visited McDonalds at Gatwick before collecting my girlfriend from Gatwick North, which i do sveral times a month. As on this occasion, I was early and my daughter was hungry, so I went in to in McDonalds with my daughter, bought some food and validated my parking. When I exited the car park, the barrier didnt open, so I pressed "THE BUTTON".Several weeks later, I received a £100 fine. I obviously appealed even showing them my McDonalds receipt for food and my Gatwick Short Stay Car Park bill. They rejected my appel and sent me a follow up message, equally as aggressive and threatening, saying that I could now pay £20 because I pressed "THE BUTTON"!!! as it didnt open and I needed to get to the airport to pick up my girlfriend.I paid the £20, just for this to go away and then they charged me a further £0.10 to get a verification text for my payment. I mean, you couldn't write this stuff. There is no phone number to challenge them on any of their correspondance letters, apart from the automated payment number with no option to speak to a human, not that I believe they employ humans!!!I chose to pay this charge as they are clearly thieveing charlatans and they need the £0.10 more than I do!!!Good luck to you MET Parking and McDonalds, as I will never frequent that place again and I am at the airport 3 times a month at least!!!Well done you!

Misleading markings and unfair fines – MET Parking withdrew my case after I challenged them
I had a shocking experience with MET Parking Services at the McDonald’s Stanmore Cornerhouse (Site 896). They issued me a £100 parking charge for allegedly parking on double yellow lines — but the spot had two sets of conflicting markings: fresh yellow lines and old white bay markings still clearly visible. Any reasonable person would assume it was a legitimate parking space.I appealed, explaining that the markings were confusing and misleading, supported by photos. MET Parking rejected my first appeal and insisted the fine was valid. However, when I escalated my case to POPLA, they suddenly withdrew their claim entirely — effectively admitting that their position couldn’t stand up to independent review. This shows a deeply unfair and dishonest practice: issuing fines in unclear areas and hoping people will just pay up rather than fight back. It feels like a trap for drivers, not genuine enforcement. If you ever receive a charge from MET Parking, don’t just pay it — appeal it!Their own withdrawal of my case proves they know many of these tickets wouldn’t survive proper scrutiny.

Scandalous. Already paid to park
After you have already paid to park at the brewery in Romford (about £3.50) they now go around and check if you are perfectly parked. This works for habitual abusers of spaces. However, I always use the end bay and hang over because I got a dent in my door from the car park next to me. So I block nobody and there is ample room (3 lanes) on the side I slightly overhang.I have no choice but to pay as my car is leased. This is why I try and look after it. So what is my complaint:Your bays are too small. You can’t have SUV’s and vans in these bays and open the doors. Who will pay for my dent? You could have kicked off with a warning note left on the wiper. I use 4-5 days a week and pay a fortune to park here. Go get the people that sit in the disabled or family parking and the taxi pick up. When you have done that sort out the moped and scooter drivers racing around and paying nothing.I will take this further with the Havering MP and Sainsbury’s as I believe they are stakeholders here.
