As a former IT Administrator with years of experience managing complex systems, I can confidently say that Anima is one of the most poorly designed platforms I have ever encountered. It is not just "clunky"—it is fundamentally broken.The primary goal of a triage system should be to streamline the patient’s journey, yet this system acts as a barrier. The search functionality is non-existent; searching for "Pain" or "Back Pain" returns zero results, and incredibly, a search for "Arthritis" suggests an "HRT/Menopause" review. There is no clear way to select or discuss existing medical conditions, leaving the user in a loop of frustration.It is clear that this system was either never UAT (User Acceptance Testing) tested by actual patients or was pushed through without any regard for accessibility or basic search logic. Forcing patients to use a "guaranteed slot" timer while fighting a broken search bar is stressful and medically counter-intuitive.I am at the point of switching GP surgeries purely to avoid this software. The NHS and local practices need to seriously review their contract with Anima. It is not fit for purpose.

Anima is clearly designed for the under-50s. Every time I put in my symptoms, it asks me if I'm pregnant, no. Have I done a pregnancy test? No How do I know I'm not pregnant? I'm 76. Undeterred it ploughs on. Have I given birth in the last 12 weeks? No. I'm 76. It then tells me to dial 999 and call an ambulance. I don't need an ambulance; I need a GP appointment. I tried going into the surgery in person to book an appointment and was told I would have to wait a month. However, I could use the Anima tablet there so they could triage me, except the Anima tablet wasn't working. I gave up. So, I'm either in such an acute situation, I need an ambulance or it's Ok to wait a month. Back home, self-medicating, in excruciating pain, but definitely not pregnant.

Easy to use and the best thing for me is not talking to someone directly as I stutter so this suits me perfectly and able to still use this service when working instead of being on hold to the surgery for ages and getting told to call back etc. It has numbers for alot of departments that can help and thats also very helpful.
