Justin at NBKC was fantastic!

Justin at NBKC helped me get the best interest rate and mortgage better than any other lender. He was upfront and honest while other lenders were very misleading. He completed all the requirements on a tight timeframe perfectly. I could not give him a higher recommendation.

Former customer of Bank of America, NBKC is 100x better than them!

I was a long time customer of Bank of America. When I started my business 11 years ago, I quickly learned how they are anti-small business. To solve simple problems would turn into long hold times, transfers to multiple departments and still no guarantee that anyone would help. I finally got sick of being treated like my business didn't matter and moved to NBKC 6 or 7 years ago and have never looked back! You can call and speak to a live person very easily. When you have a question or need help with someone, they make that VERY easy. Most of the time they can solve the problem with the people that take the calls, but when they can't, the person who gets the call takes ownership of it and you can count on them following through. They don't use AI bots to replace humans. They care about you as a customer and they understand small businesses.Their online portal is easy to use and navigate. The most recent update made to their online system wasn't the best, but it's workable. I just love working with the people there and try to make a point of making sure their excellent customer service is known anytime I get a chance. It's so rare to work with a business that understands the value of human interaction but also taking ownership of solving issues with the customer.

I recently completed a home refinance…

I recently completed a home refinance with NBKC, and the entire experience was exceptional from start to finish. The process was smooth, transparent, and surprisingly fast, with every step clearly explained and handled with professionalism.A huge part of that great experience was thanks to my Loan Officer, Ryan Ament. Ryan was absolutely amazing — knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly responsive. He took the time to walk me through all my options, answered every question thoroughly, and made sure I always understood what was happening next. His guidance gave me total confidence throughout the process, and he genuinely made me feel like a priority.If you’re considering refinancing your home, I highly recommend NBKC, and especially Ryan Ament. He turned what can often be a stressful experience into an easy, positive, and even enjoyable one. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome or the service I received.

Indiscriminate account closure

As a small business owner, I was receiving payments made from various forms. Cash, credit card, checks, etc. One check i received from a customer's turned out to be fraudulent and I filed a police report. However this bank saw this as a high-risk and terminated my account. I found out about the check when I received a "hold" notification then started tracking the source of the check. However, sometimes these customers are pretty good at deceiving people. Anyways, when I called the bank customer service, we confirmed why the account was closed. They said they tried to email me several times but the email bounced back, never reached me. Then what about the other emails and notifications I receive from this bank? They got through. It seems this bank was just coming up with excuses to find ways to terminate my account in an expeditious way, not notifying me and not calling me. They punish small business owners because of the stupid actions of our customers. I never had a problem with this bank for the past 4 years but then this happens? I will be glad to take my business elsewhere and I hope they learn a valuable lesson in how they adjudicate account actions.UPDATE:NBKC replied to my review. If you read toward the bottom where they said "we tried contacting you this week..." is inaccurate. We did communicate this week. As a matter of fact, I called customer service Monday, February 2, 2026 around 3:45 PM EST They did not try to work with me to resolve the problem they blatantly said that they closed my account and the bank wishes not to pursue a relationship anymore. NBKC, get your facts straight and don't gaslight your customers. I called but you are not acknowledging my call. This is on you and you only. You will lose more customers and I will do my best to share your bad customer service with the public.

Great Service and Easy-to-Use Interface

Today I had two calls with the NBKC Helpdesk. I am unfortunately terrible with names, so I can’t seem to remember them at the moment.Nonetheless, both operators were Knowledgeable, Helpful, and Efficient! Too many positives to list, but I will try.Ty was an outstanding loan officer and a true asset throughout the entire process. From our very first conversation, he made everything clear and easy to understand. nbkc Bank was upfront with their best pricing immediately, with no games or haggling required, and they beat Chase right out of the gate.Ty stayed on top of every detail, including items outside of his direct responsibility, and consistently went above and beyond expectations. Unprofessional

Comparable loan terms, but the reaction after declining to proceed was inappropriate and unprofessional. Guilt-based comments and assumptions have no place in a client relationship. Not recommended.

We were the first priority

As we were researching lenders for our upcoming home purchase, we were given a few different options. As we reached out to each one, we were given a list of additional documents and such. However, the very first call from Todd and NBKC was questions on what OUR needs, desires, plans, and thoughts were. Todd and NBKC was more focused on us than how to get our money. We made the choice without hesitation.

5 Stars For Sure! :-)

My previous bank branch was sold to a bank I had NO interest or intention of patronizing, so I did some serious researching of local banks. After evaluating the benefits offered plus customer reviews and professional reviews on a number of bank evaluation web sites, it became clear that nbkc was the clear winner of my search for a new bank. Everything — from applying on their web portal, to the approval times for my new account and credit card, to the knowledgeable and friendly staff at my preferred branch — has made me glad that I chose nbkc for my new bank. Keep up the good work, nbkc! :-)

Best customer service in the industry! (maybe any industry)

I called and was disconnected before speaking to anyone after a several minute wait. This was frustrating. This is not the first time this has happened to me when trying to get in touch with someone (not specifically NBKC)...BUT, this is the first time someone has ever called me back before I ever spoke to someone!! Robyn is a customer service gem. She ferreted into my problem and didn't stop until it was resolved. Her customer service and communication skills are excellent. The experience that I had with Robyn is part of the reason that I use NBKC. I had a lost incoming ACH - and with her help - the missing money was in my account quickly.
