Life changing volunteer and travel experience Mission Discovery offered a meaningful, hands on volunteer trip that combined service work with cultural immersion
I had a wonderful experience on the Guatemala missions trip. Seeing the hands of God moving through us as we impacted the lives of the people we encountered. Working with Missions discovery was a honor, and i thank the organization for the opportunity for my team and i to serve along them. Pastor Chris was amazing and did an awesome Job with coordinating and organizing the flow and mission assignments for the week. Only thing i thought could have been different was the peanut butter and jelly sandwich most days lol. Maybe they can be more creative with more lunch options. That was minor, overall the entire trip was amazing. I loved the gathering every night to worship and hear the word to receive a refreshing from God to start over again the next day. I had Wonderful experience and left feeling fulfilled, renewed and humbled. I would do it again and recommend others to as well.
I really appreciated Josh, Hough, & Annette, and all of their help on our recent mission trip to Guatemala. It's always great working with Josh. The organization and caring attitude that Mission Discovery brings to our trips make them enjoyable for all and much easier for us to plan. Look forward to more trips in the future!
Bulembu & Kruger Park were incredible! Mission Discovery always delivers!
I believe made my experience great was working with Josh Mission Discovery. He was very passionate and you could tell he cared. Also,I believe being able to work with the people in Guatemala every day made a huge impact on why I think I was able to be helpful.
As I was serving with Mission Discovery in Guatemala, it was as if the Bible came to life before my very eyes. I didn’t read about those who were hungry and were fed. I was a part of it. I didn’t read about the apostles teaching others about Christ. I was a part of it. I didn’t read about comforting those who needed comforting. I was a part of it. I didn’t read how the love of Christ was spread to the least, the last, and the lost. By the grace and mercy of God, I (and my daughter) were a part of it. You can be a part of it. How? To love is to serve.
Everything about my Mission Discovery trip to Guatemala was perfect! The emails were always very detailed for planning and I didn’t miss a thing! I met the leader in the Guatemala airport along with the rest of the group for the week (I was a solo traveler). The week was just perfect from the group to the activities to the worship at night. I will 100% be doing another mission discovery trip!
We love Mission Discovery. We know once we get on the ground the team will be taken care of. We appreciate that there is daily structure and evening worship services. Many of our team said this was the best experience they’ve had to date. They felt it was the most spiritual trip yet. Our team particularly liked seeing a project go from start to finish building a house. We made great connections with Myra at the Kairos School. Guatemala is a place our team would like to go to again. Our team loves welcoming individuals into our group for the week. This trip was different for me in that I came from Ecuador this year. I was so sick, but I knew if I got to Josh, he would make for sure I arrived at the hotel safely. Knowing that there is a coordinator on the ground preparing things is super helpful.
10/10, it was great
I am doing this under my uncle’s profile. My name is Nick and I just got back from Guatemala. It was my first trip. When we go there everything was already organized and it helped us jump into work immediately. I had the opportunity to pray with people in the community and it changed my life. Already saving for next trip!
The people who are serving beside me are the best part of the trip. Josh is always amazing, calm, and patient, and makes sure we are all OK at all times. One suggestion I have is eating dinner, and going right into worship then small groups. With all the work we are doing, and how early we need to get up, I think that having more time in the evening to rest, versus staying up until 9 or 10 would be a good idea.
Guziak family is very happy with the Mission Discovery trip to Guatemala with Jimmy & Kyla and Shelter Rock. It was a fantastic experience. Everything regarding the daily activities was well organized. Worship was beautiful and the God Sightings concept fantastic. I talked with the family and we have only have two suggestions. First, the key activities, housing, house visiting, and VBS, were not well organized. There was no assigned leader, no one to help us understand what we should do and how. I understand that God will lead the way but He also designed for us to have leaders in place. I believe that we would have been far more effective and consistent if more time and effort were shown what we would do, how we would do it, and what we should and should not do. Instead, I felt that we are all thrown into supporting others without the proper knowledge or preparation. This was something my whole family agreed should be shared. The overall event, times, bus schedules, were all well organized, just the activities and how to deliver them well could have been done so much better. (it requires more than just a translator to be with you). Shelter Rock connection was fantastic and we felt so included from day one.
It was awesome time
Mission Discovery overall is very well run and their organization and planning makes the experience that more fulfilling. The spiritual elements of the week added greatly to the experience.
Once I (we all) finally got there, our missions trip was awesome! It was obvious the enemy was doing his best to keep us away, but God . . . This trip was a little different for me. I was a solo traveler two years ago, but that team was mostly made up of little groups. This team had a large group of members that already knew each other, so I felt a little more like I was on the outside looking in. Again, but God . . . It all worked out just the way He planned it!Mission Discovery handled everything - the missed & re-routed flights, the missing luggage, the activities, everything - perfectly. The group came together and supported each other and the ministry and had fun, too. I don’t know if I will go back to Bulembu again (although I’m already feeling that tug) but I know that God will put me where He wants me to be. 2027?
So this was my first Mission Trip! It was an experience that I don't think any person can go into "prepared" for! It was the best experience I have been a part of! I recently started a committed walk with Christ within the past couple of years and after some hardship, I found myself knocking on my pastors door in August of 2024. Here we are a year later... If you would have told me I was going to be traveling halfway across the country to help serve and grow relationships and fellowship with a various type of all Gods children. I would have said everyone is crazy! God is so REAL and so BIG! I went into the week thinking that we were just gonna be full throttle helping do odd and ends type of projects and that was it... Then the Spiritual aspect of the trip hit me full force! It's not about what we can get finished in the name of Jesus but what we do and wake up to continue to do everyday that we wake up we seek Him and build up our GOD FAMILIES while doing so! And giving a hand not even just when we see it is needed but also in those selfless moments when it's least expected... Before this trip I was skeptical about how to approach people when it comes to asking about their faith and if the believe Jesus died for our sins. I have learned that really there is no right or wrong way to do so. As long as we are humble and seek God He will guide us through anything. I wasn't sure I would be able to go on this trip and it was a silent but loud blessing for me to be a part of this experience! Never would I have thought or believed it possible but God Moves are the Real Moves! So many experiences happened this week so much more spiritual and mental than I thought and probably could ever get prepared for or put into words!!!!!Thank you Mission Discovery for the blessing to be able to help serve in more ways than I even understood or may ever truly understand!Thank you Joel and Heather SchnellThank you thank you thank you Bruce for not giving up on me!!Most of all Thank God for being a God who never stops loving!SincerelyBrother through Christ!Zachery Stream
I had an amazing time and getting to know people that I would have never gotten to know other then mission trip!
My mission trip was spectacular and excellent. When it comes to doing God's will, it is an awesome and amazing experience. I love to share about the Gospel and especially seeing the lost soul surrendering to Jesus. Painting and cleaning up were also awesome and fun.
It was my first overseas missions trip, and I can’t imagine having a better one! Guatemala is such a beautiful country with incredible people, and this missions trip helped me see that. The people I met blessed me more than I could have ever blessed them. My leaders were so kind and knowledgeable about the country and the people. I felt safe and welcome the entire time I was there.
