Mimeo runs a close second to Apple.
I used to create and print my photo albums with Apple until they stopped the service without warning. So I tried a couple of other services but found the quality of their finished books was on the cheap and cheerful side. Editing a book with Mimeo is pretty good; my only sticking point is having to drag the page position window with that little thingy at bottom left. Also, my books typically contain sixty or so pages, which means there's lots of photos uploaded. It'd be handy if they could be organised in page or chapter folders. The Mimeo online experience is reliable, especially when my books often take a month to complete. (Snapfish once deleted all my captions after hitting 'Buy', then a few days later deleted the whole book. Not good for our relationship.) All in all I'm very happy to continue with Mimeo.

Disapppointing "improvements"
I have been creating a “Mimeo book” every year for the past 10 years, recounting the events of the previous year using their large-size hardcover format. The projects have grown steadily—my last one, completed in January 2025 and covering 2024, had 120 pages and 404 pictures.Unfortunately, since my last project, Mimeo have made significant changes to their templates. I used to love adding a single line of text at the bottom of each page, regardless of the number of photos. With the latest “improvements,” this is no longer possible without compromising the layout.• On pages with one or two pictures, the images are now smaller and leave empty background space unless you add more text.• On pages with three to five pictures, new templates force you to include either a longer paragraph or individual captions under each image, which further reduces photo size.I am very disappointed with these changes, and everyone I’ve shown my finished book to (received yesterday) shares this view. I suspect Mimeo made these adjustments to reduce printing costs—smaller photos, more text, and more blank background are likely cheaper to produce than larger images with minimal text.While some users may appreciate the new templates, I wish Mimeo had retained the previous options for those of us who prefer a more photo-centric layout with just a single line of text per page.
